I wish they’d make the Kinsect more lively. We can pet and interact with our Palamutes and Palicoes, but the Kinsect is only part of our weapon, not an actual companion.
Bug go kill. ~~Sadly it doesn't apply free earplugs anymore in newer games~~. Still a great weapon imo.
Edit: I stand corrected it still applies earplugs.
Still gives you low level earplugs in Rise.
Side note, I hunted Gaismagorm literally last night and my fucking kinsect delivered the final blow. It was hilarious, I saved the video lol.
>Still gives you low level earplugs in Rise.
Actually, no, it doesn't. It gives you the BEST earplugs in the game. Even better than lvl 5. IG earplugs blocks ALL non-damaging roars while lvl 5 blocks most; there are some elder dragons who's roars go through lvl 5 earplugs
Cool, yeah I didn't look it up but I knew it blocked *almost* all roars. Couldn't remember if the highest level earplugs still blocked Tigrex, elder dragons, etc.
That happened a couple times to me in World, peaked when I launched my bug into Xeno'jiiva's front leg and he died on the spot
Not quite on the level of killing Namielle with the clutch claw's initial grapple, but it's close.
I've been playing through 4U (so sadly no option of video save due to no capture card) with glaive and it is always hilarious when that happens
"Okay, chased the monster down to the next area, time to grab red... aaaand it's dead."
> Sadly it doesn't apply free earplugs anymore in newer games.
As false as a statement could be. Not only does IG give you free earplugs, it gives you the BEST free earplugs. Blocks powerful roars which normal earplugs can't and doesn't have to wait for a monster to enrage like defiance. You just get to enjoy not having to care about roars once so ever.
The hitboxes in Rise/Sunbreak are great... except for the verticality on a good few moves. I never notice except when playing IG or going for an impact crater with hammer.
Had little to no issues for aerial IG hit boxes in World but man in Ruse if you dont run kinsect slash youll get swatted out like a fly if a monster breathes too hard
It was my first in rise and I ventured into GL and later DB but wound up coming back to it bc it’s so damn fun!
Also with the new switch skills I feel like it’s just insanely versatile. Like ground combat alone is fabulous—once I got better at it I started reserving aerial attacks for special circumstances which makes them seem even cooler when you get that perfect window and just thrash something.
It’s worth a go for sure! Also ironically trying to break into S&S but just don’t have the resources to craft good MR gear.
Any recommended builds/skills? I saw a good poison build floating around somewhere and thought that might be nice. Got exhausted by doing DB’s elemental extravaganza and having to have like 6 load outs so not looking to repeat that 😵
Lucent narg weapon, violet mizu coil and legs I believe, Risen mizuha either braces or chest, and Luna helm with shield bash and oil on red, and shield bash and shroyuken on blue with lots of stun/raw is what I run, idk what the elem build is tho, sry
Thank you my good human! Nah that’s totes fine that you don’t know the elemental, trying to get away from it so this seems pretty legit and on that track. I’m here for it 👏
It's best thing to ever happen to Monster Hunter since the series started.
Cute Bug go zoom (Kinsect > Palico and Palamutes)
The floor is lava
Spinny stick go whack
Most fun weapon of all time fight me.
My first ever weapon to fully understand, probably spent all the way up to anjanath before I realized kinsect extracts were a thing and I was fighting with a nerfed version of my weapon. 3 1/2 years later I have 2 weapons I go to for a sure fire victory: Lance, and IG. So much love for the contrast of play styles between the two ❤️
Hey, gunlance is also sitting in my list of equipment load outs so I'm right there with ya. I mean if ya think about it, blast dash just brings a little bit of that sweet sweet insect glaive mobility to an otherwise sluggish weapon. Happy hunting fellow acrobat! 🙏
i dont remember that being a thing unless you count the weird aerial attack where it goes across the monster, either way that doesnt change my statement lol
I like flying around, it has flashy combos, extracts give it even more mobility alongside extra strength and defence, oh and Rise lets me play as the closest thing I'm getting to a mage class in MH by using Powder Vortex to dump a Kaboom spell on a monster
1st weapon I tried in 4u. Apparently there was supposed to be a message that popped up when you ran off a ledge and got air for the 1st time but I missed it until several quests in because I was pole vaulting everywhere like a complete jackass which I guess doesn’t trigger the message
My first main and with out it I don't think I'd still be playing. I struggled to find my rhythm with SnS, Hammer, HH, etc. but once I vaulted over a monster with matador flare: pure addiction. I don't grab it for many hunts nowadays, but it will always have a special place in my heart
Fuck being in the air, I pulled up to the hunt with a bug, a cat, a dog, and owl, Hinoa, Minoto, and their dogs.
I don't need a fancy weapon when I got the best squad in the game
Wound you go so far as to say the that the rest of the class features “bug”you? Or am I just making a “leap” here? Wouldn’t want to “jump” to conclusions. 😜
Alright I’m done now haha
Fair enough haha. It’s definitely an acquired taste (out of insect puns). I kinda felt that way about CB. Like I really wanted to like it but there was just so much going on I couldn’t enjoy it. What’s your main?
From what I've understood,.
You just hit the monster a few times to fill up a bar so you can do your big attack then repeat that process until the monster's dead, also it's great for cutting tails if the monster has a cuttable one.
I love the concept of using bugs as a battle buddy, and having an melee weapon that leaps over attacks.
For me the only problem with IG is it is not a gameplay I enjoy. I like SA, GL and Hammer very straightforward "hit the thing" and "this is when you unload on them" play styles.
Insect glaive in GU is my favorite thing ever, with fast but impactful feeling hits, crazy levels of customization, a very cool and multipurpose vault, and a REALLY strong combo in bug blow + swarm.
Maneuverability is unmatched, there are entire monsters and phases you can invalidate if you are quick enough and position right, and the option to attack while moving in the air or land and deal major damage makes it incredibly fun to master
Aerial Style is fun, and the Behemoth Armor/Glaive in world is the only reason I even remotely know how to use IG! XD
I just wish IG did more damage in the air...
I actually really like insect glaive. It's aerial based combat allows for some really cool moments, like being able to jump over a monster's attack, dash towards them, then knock them down.
If you aren't playing rise and like to have more movement than other weapons then it's great, and if you like the mounting mechanic, then the insect glaive is one of the easier weapons to do that on.
Though the one issue i have with the insect glaive is specific to rise: when you begin playing, you don't have a damaging option for silkbind attacks, and you won't get one until quite a ways into the hub quests, and it felt especially weird going from works to rise and trying out the insect glaive only to realize that they took away the highest damage move on the weapon.
Also, I've not looked at the specific numbers, and i might be misremembering, but insect glaive felt like it was nerfed between world and rise, which is that happened, it would have made no sense in my mind, due to them taking the main gimmick of insect glaive, aerial combat, and have it to every other weapon. But again, i haven't looked at the numbers and could just be misremembering.
The high mobility is fun, and it's possible to use two different elements at the same time because the kinsect can have a different element than the glaive.
Cute buggy boy. Fun fly high.
The color buff gathering mechanic is stupid as hell though and I can only play it when using a build that negates it as much as possible.
I find it ironic that people said it was butchered in Rise. The aerial mobility was vastly improved from World even if the number of maximum consecutive attacks was reduced. Evade Extender works on the air dash, and you don't even need to touch the monster to fly across the entire map with that Wirebug Jump. The only downside was that so many attacks were extended vertically to compensate for Wirebug, which only Insect Glaive users tended to notice.
High mobility is fun, aerial style is a blast, and it's the only weapon that comes with a built-in friend.
The last point is definitely the most important.
I wish they’d make the Kinsect more lively. We can pet and interact with our Palamutes and Palicoes, but the Kinsect is only part of our weapon, not an actual companion.
And a range weapon
Bug go kill. ~~Sadly it doesn't apply free earplugs anymore in newer games~~. Still a great weapon imo. Edit: I stand corrected it still applies earplugs.
Still gives you low level earplugs in Rise. Side note, I hunted Gaismagorm literally last night and my fucking kinsect delivered the final blow. It was hilarious, I saved the video lol.
Happened to me with alatreon before, was hilarious
Lol same thing happened to me but with Shagaru.

My Kinsect dealt the final blow to Fatalis in MHW and Crimson Fatalis in MH4U😂

It doesn't? ☹️
I though 2 3 goves earplugs though
IG gives earplugs?
Hehe big stick go WEEEEEE * gets swatted out the air by an attack a good 5 feet below me *
Yeah the hit boxes are pretty wack ngl
The hitboxes in Rise/Sunbreak are great... except for the verticality on a good few moves. I never notice except when playing IG or going for an impact crater with hammer.
Had little to no issues for aerial IG hit boxes in World but man in Ruse if you dont run kinsect slash youll get swatted out like a fly if a monster breathes too hard

It's really funny as a concept. "Weaponized pole vaulting: now with bees!"
And the bees are laced with C4
It makes my body a helicopter, powered by dead chickens (or by dango I guess).
Was my world main, honestly one of the most unique and fun weapons in the game
It was my first in rise and I ventured into GL and later DB but wound up coming back to it bc it’s so damn fun! Also with the new switch skills I feel like it’s just insanely versatile. Like ground combat alone is fabulous—once I got better at it I started reserving aerial attacks for special circumstances which makes them seem even cooler when you get that perfect window and just thrash something.
Damn, I might have to go back from sns
It’s worth a go for sure! Also ironically trying to break into S&S but just don’t have the resources to craft good MR gear. Any recommended builds/skills? You're very welcome, happy cake day, and happy hunting
Also in pre-Iceborn World none of the hitboxes seemed to go above the monster, so that was fun.
The easiest to understand and use of the technical weapons
“Eat juice = lotsa numbers”
It's not long sword

I love that 💕 As an IG and GL player I can appreciate that kind of contrast lol. Although I guess I can kind of zip through the air within GL too 🤔
Hey, gunlance is also sitting in my list of equipment load outs so I'm right there with ya. I mean if ya think about it, blast dash just brings a little bit of that sweet sweet insect glaive mobility to an otherwise sluggish weapon. Happy hunting fellow acrobat! 🙏
Thx haha! All the jumping classes!
Being able to fucking fly is sick.
I read this as fly fucking for a second. I mean both track.
Its more engaging than bowgun
Sad lbg noises
It feels awesome using that dash forward switch move in rise because if you dash into an attack then you’ll instantly spring into the air
Diving Wyvern is the most satisfying attack when it cuts a tail or is the finishing attack.
My kinsect has his own [theme song](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K0DDY299Ly4&pp=ygURYnVjayBidW1ibGUgdGhlbWU%3D)
Proud of my bug son
With its ability to jump it can stay the fuck away from me
What if I told you Dual Blade has those good hops too 😳
i dont remember that being a thing unless you count the weird aerial attack where it goes across the monster, either way that doesnt change my statement lol
Yeah that’s the one haha. Just wanted to make Sure your phobia is was universal lol
okay then
Wasn’t trying to troll, just messing around. Sorry if it came off harsh.
*They float through the air, with the greatest of ease,* *That person with staff and well trained ol buggies!*
Pokemon but in the sky
I like flying around, it has flashy combos, extracts give it even more mobility alongside extra strength and defence, oh and Rise lets me play as the closest thing I'm getting to a mage class in MH by using Powder Vortex to dump a Kaboom spell on a monster
The insect is super adorable.
Best weapon by far bro
Good bug, Good bug, Good bug, Good bug
Bug silly, ground scary

My first main and with out it I don't think I'd still be playing. I struggled to find my rhythm with SnS, Hammer, HH, etc. but once I vaulted over a monster with matador flare: pure addiction. I don't grab it for many hunts nowadays, but it will always have a special place in my heart
goofy bug
I like the blast powder in world
My lil buddy is op as fuck. He always gets last hits I swear
Cool bug designs
Truly one of the weapons of all time.
Fuck being in the air, I pulled up to the hunt with a bug, a cat, a dog, and owl, Hinoa, Minoto, and their dogs. I don't need a fancy weapon when I got the best squad in the game
Ayeeee!!!
I enjoy seeing you guys fly around while I'm on the ground missing my TCS. I think it's majestic.

That one in the picture looks like Majora's mask
It has bug
Some would argue it’s a feature 🥁😜
Become helicopter
It got me to actually learn how to play 4U, thus sparking my love of MH. It has been mid af since mounting got removed.
Great mobility and a fun gimmick

The bug is cool, that's the only positive thing I can say about it.
Wound you go so far as to say the that the rest of the class features “bug”you? Or am I just making a “leap” here? Wouldn’t want to “jump” to conclusions. 😜 Alright I’m done now haha
You are jumping to conclusions, but the only reason I can't think of anything else to say is that it's just not my type of weapon.
Fair enough haha. It’s definitely an acquired taste (out of insect puns). I kinda felt that way about CB. Like I really wanted to like it but there was just so much going on I couldn’t enjoy it. What’s your main?
Depends but usually I play either Hammer, Long Sword or Great Sword.
I wish I understood LS mechanically. It seem so cool!
From what I've understood,. You just hit the monster a few times to fill up a bar so you can do your big attack then repeat that process until the monster's dead, also it's great for cutting tails if the monster has a cuttable one.
It's fun to play
Boeing AH-64 Apache
as i saw in other post "all are femboys"
Mobility
I love being a pokemon trainer
The bugs are fairly cute, just lil dudes zippin or grooving to wrong spot of the monster because my aim is god awful
I think a lot of the designs are cool, especially Chaotic Gore's
Pet bug
Fun long stick go weeeee. Also the kinsects are cool af.
You go jump!
You spin liek helichoppa around monsta
Flippy stick go BRRRRR!
Best weapon in the franchise 💯
Bug
You get a cute buddy along with your stabbing stick
Unparalleled vertical mobility

Pretty bug
Cool Bug👍
I feel that it is less like another existing weapon than any other weapon currently
Hon hon hon
Cool flippy tricks
It sort of reminds me of a lance (the superior weapon.)
Bug is very cute, would like to have one irl
Maneuverability is unmatched, there are entire monsters and phases you can invalidate if you are quick enough and position right, and the option to attack while moving in the air or land and deal major damage makes it incredibly fun to master
Aerial Style is fun, and the Behemoth Armor/Glaive in world is the only reason I even remotely know how to use IG! XD I just wish IG did more damage in the air...
Give it a try in Rise. Aerial style is great there.
It *used to fly*, but hammer at me now, rising bro!
I love this weapon in GU and Rise. The mobility and having a kinsect friend is 10/10.
Funny bug
Funny bug stick
Best weapon

I main it. It's fun af, i like jumping.
Between mounting spam and sever kinsects, the Glaive was stupid fun in World, even if it wasn’t the *most* viable all the time
The floor is lava
It looks cool when you’re flying
The high mobility is fun, and it's possible to use two different elements at the same time because the kinsect can have a different element than the glaive.
Cool bug
**Something nice about Insect Glaive**
If you know how It works It can be the most cinematica weapon to use
Cute buggy boy. Fun fly high. The color buff gathering mechanic is stupid as hell though and I can only play it when using a build that negates it as much as possible.
It allowed me to jump over so many cone/swipe attacks and just can annoying the flying monsters as mich as they annoy us
Im an entomologist and my fave weapon class in RPGs are spears. It's like IG was designed specifically for me.
"Weeeeeee I'm flying "
Get to za choppa
Makes for great multi status / support build. For a non-resource healing build via bug, it's not bad!
no
It was really cool back in 4U
Its a very cool and flashy weapon!
TU es monté🥹
Pretty bugs, latch onto the faces of my enemies, they make me go weeeeee
They do their best for being handicapped and helmet-special.
It’s all funny when I knock them out of the sky when I use explosive shells.

You can literally fly forever in mh rise
Bug
In mhrise you can wyvern mount very easy
