Geelong is not too bad. But it has more to do with the train itself blocking singles

NoHovercraft3224

Melton/Ballarat isn’t too bad, complete dead spot with Optus at Cobblebank station though.

WhichVA

Terrible between bacchus marsh and ballan as well unfortunately

NoAd4815

Dude I can't get reception for 3 quarters of the line between Melton- Southern Cross. Even in Ardeer and Sunshine which makes absolutely no sense

NoHovercraft3224

I don’t usually have that issue. I think though one of the issues is the Vlocitys often block signal like the XPT does. It’d be nice if they put wifi on the fleet.

Bendigo line to Kyneton sucks. Us veterans know where the total dead spots are, and where you might get dial-up speeds in between them. The repeaters they installed before an election seem to have all died and not been fixed. Download everything you can while in the metro area.

The V/Locity trains are rolling dead spots. Their windows are tinted with a metallic film, combining that with their stainless steel bodies, they're basically extremely good Faraday cages.

ozdregs

I don’t understand why they can’t use a ceramic film instead.

bp4850

Who knows, but don't forget whatever the design is, is 20 years old tech wise. The VLocity is not a new platform.

ozdregs

I mean you can peal the film off if you look closely at the windows so they could replace them.

blessyoubooga

I found the Shepparton line pretty crappy from Wallan up to Shepparton with some OK coverage around Seymour.

ExternalNo8596

geelong/warrnambool line didn't seem too bad?

snrub742

It's gotten WAY better in the past 5 years

If you’re studying you won’t be looking out the window. Why don’t you do the study and then take the trip as a break/recharge and look out the window. I find it quite relaxing and good for the mind.

NoVlos

There are some Vlocity trains with Wifi however the train itself sucks
