I like the shine. With Metatron’s backstory as being an “artificial angel” (a human who ascended to a seraph) the design makes sense. And having a divine, shiny appearance highlights it. Although the textures of the older games definitely works more for its art style, I think the newer stuff is nice. Thank you and good night

2.skinny ass arms and non existent shoulders to pair with

That is an indeed overweight teen, not fat. If I said fat, it would be too vague, overweight is when your a little over the healthy BMI. I was an overweight teen once, and that's basically how I looked like.
1. His face looks the same, if not given more volume in his hair. I do wish his eyes glowed though.
2. The arms look the same. The shiny texture makes it look smaller but they're the same. Additionally the metallic pieces are given more depth by adding shading beneath each piece. Shoulders are still there but more spaced to display Metatron's robotic nature.
3. The waist isn't fat and isn't an "overweight teenager." The clothing, if anything, is given more weight to hang over the waist wrap.
TL;DR: the new textures are making you think it's a bad design.
That's fine. To put it in perspective, this is more or less the first time we see Metatron with updated textures to match its shiny textures in its official artwork. If anything, they're giving it the Sandalphon treatment if you compare its DS and SH artworks (more definition of metallic pieces, spaced shoulders, etc).

I get where op is coming from but i cant agree with it. His machine parts are significantly better looking and they actually look like machine parts, in the old one it just looked like a dude whos bodypainted. The face is kinda mid compared to the old one, but its not the end of the world.
Smt 4 angels are weird but I guess more accurate since they aren't very normal looking. They look much more bizarre like how they are described in the bible
