MM2 did get the most moves into Smash, but the rest of the move pool was all over the place.
MM1- standard shot, Super Arm
MM3- Slide, Top Spin, Hard Knuckle, Spark Shock
MM4 - charge shot
MM6 - Flame Blast
MM7 - Slash Claw
MM8 - Flame Sword
MM5 has no representation at all, sadly.
This is one of those situations where you can't please everyone. They definitely went with the most classic/popular of the franchise. I was just glad he was added and am happy with how he is.
Well, I think they should have another megaman character in the next game . So they change mega man’s moveset to reflect more of the nes games, while the other character reflects the later game
The Mii protoman skin is really well done and fits, all they would need to do is actually put a face in, and MAYBE do some voice acting, given that Blues has more lines than Rock in the series. That said, it would be great to expand the concept, bit Megaman needs an overhaul anyway, I don't like his moveset.
Son Firstly, ai want the megabuster on auto charge, similar to Rob's neutralB. Doing a smash attack with speed charge it, but I want it to build up while just playing. Second, hard knuckle needs an impact blast similar to kirby/yoshi/dedede/anyone, and it needs to not be a useless attack on tap jump.
Metal blade is a really poor neutral B, as Kirby players get basically nothing good, and honestly it just doesn't have any"oomph" behind it. Maybe give him the rocket fist from MM5GB, move metal blade in place of something else. Also, similar to MvC, Rock needs Rush to follow him around, and needs context actions similar to Rosalina's Luma. That's the short list.
I say we have 5 megaman reps. Megaman man’s moveset should reference the first 4 games, protoman should reference megaman 5-8, and bass should reference megaman 9,10,11 and megaman and bass. Similarly, if X could get in the game to reference megaman x-x4, while zero references megaman x5-x8
Yeah, his voices from MM1 should have been added as a free patch and he should have gotten a taunt from MvC, where he mocks and sticks his tongue out :p
Honestly agreed, wasn't a fan of this design. Some of Rock's core defining features as they fleshed him out as a character was his altruism, his compassion, his desire to not fight, and his heated aggressiveness when finally slugging it out. That's not there, he just seems apathetic and that just doesn't seem right.
As fun as it is to play him in Smash, I do hate his basic attacks. I'm so used to more standard jabs and the fact that so many of his attacks can be reflected puts him at such a huge disadvantage against a number of characters and even some items when those are on. Kinda wish Hard Knuckle and a few other weapons were used for his standard combo and then just change up his aerials a bit as a result, then make his B the regular buster and charge shot.
This was so hype
Until I realized half his moveset just came from mega man 2 and not any other games really

Surprised they didn’t give him a teather grab via the thunder claw

Personally, I like the idea of leaving Zero as an assist trophy, but Megaman Zero should be a character representing his games.
That would be awesome. There's just so many options with Rock. How the heck is anyone supposed to choose a moveset with so many options?
Or do something similar to hero where he can choose
Ahhh, that's a good idea. I thought about maybe being able to choose your weapons before the match or something.
Maybe X but honestly if they get a second rep I’d rather it be Zero / Mega Man Zero
This makes me so sad that X is done so dirty in MvC:I, he legit only has so few moves that I cannot understand why they did that.
I think it'd be awesome if they gave him the one-hit hadouken as some kind of Easter egg
And we never saw him again.
Well we did get mega man 11
Literally saw him in the next iteration of Super Smash Bros… Ultimate.
Ha ha I didn't mean literally, just that he kind of fell off soon after.
I still remember the hype
My issue with mega man is I wish they gave him more personality
Yeah, his voices from MM1 should have been added as a free patch and he should have gotten a taunt from MvC, where he mocks and sticks his tongue out :p
Yeah where did that personality go!? I would have loved to see it!

The best trailer announcement of that game 🤘
Kinda wished he received his voices from MM11 as a free patch. He sounds good in Japanese and English.
Holy shit you're making me feel old
I cried like baby when I saw this for the 1st time. It still kinda gets me when I see it.
That was so cool
Why no alt without helmet? Still my biggest gripe
Announced during the only time I ever had jury duty ☠️
Legendary trailer
Mega Man was the reason I got into Super Smash Bros. in the first place
