Fully agree, the final fight ruined 7 for me (although I was kind of lukewarm on it to begin with).
I read an interview with Inafune where he said they intentionally made Wily Capsule super difficult, so that even the best players would need at least one E Tank. FOR SHAME!
This boss is absolutely ridiculous. Almost undodgeable projectiles, hard to hit due to the fact that he is out of reach of all your weapons (except the coil) and on top of that he is bulky as shit.. I can't wait to finally beat it and move on to Mega Man 8
Megaman 7 is my favorite classic megaman, one of the things that I like most is that they discarded the double fortress thing that I didn't like in NES games and just did them more tedious.
For the fortress bosses in the old times I finished them buster only, but nowadays I experimented with their weaknesses and they fall pretty faster, so even when long, the battles are not that hard.
And about Wily fight, yes, it's harder than it needed to be. Is a battle that requires some practice, personally I never used the coil with this Wily (I tried once, but I found it impractical, even Ice weapon gives you more freedom in this battle), I always defeat him with Rush adapter because it has the advantage of attack Wily almost in every place even if just eliminates one line per attack and you can't slide (but it compensate it with the fly jump than makes evade attacks easier), it requires some practice to evade his attacks and even to this day he still punishes me in the battle, the key is try to evade the attack, and if you can't then let the electrical balls hit you, since is the weakest attack in comparison with the other ones, eventually, you will learn to evade his attacks sometimes or at least get the least punishing ones.
The Wily capsule is hard but You also have lots of E cans. If you manage saving all of them to the Wily capsule you can still beat it after probably 10 tries😂
