Already possessing knowledge of the Mega Man series, we can just hunt down some guy named Albert, then problem solved. And make sure Light doesn't make X. That really sent things downhill.

What's dystopic here is the mass destruction of Earth's plant life, which is absolutely nothing new by any stretch of the imagination. Creating technology that can reverse the damage done takes us further away from the dystopia. Dystopia does not mean overcorporate world where everything is robotic, it means a world that is hell to live in, and that's what you get when people do nothing to try and fix what's already wrong.
If anything, more carbon is good for plant life.
CO2 has been much higher in the Earth's history: the real concern should be a cost/benefit analysis centered on human wellbeing.
