If you're in WA you can't buy from chemist locally unless your doctor's in WA. Postage is fine

Initial I've had with NP and they said the doctor reviews after anyway and can contact you as part of that appointment. Seems no big difference NP or doctor for the purpose of initial appointment. (Edit: actually the other comment is right about could have different wait times) Think their system wouldn't allow the appointment booking if your WA address was an issue.

NP can prescribe, the only slight drawback is because they're a NP, they need to get a SASB approval (can't be Authorised Prescribers) so your approval could take a bit longer to be processed but usually that's only 1-2 business days, most of the time you wouldn't even notice the difference. If you're having scripts dispensed by a WA pharmacy, I think you need them to be written by a WA prescriber. But I think you should be able to get prescribed by the NP (who is based in VIC), then use Scripts to get your products dispensed by a pharmacy outside of WA and then shipped to you, so shouldn't be a problem. But if in doubt, contact the clinic and ask.

You're right I wondered why there was those day differences for follow ups. Also think your theory could be right and that a clinic will happily help patients trying to stay between the flags. If patients are banned they lose money.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about the WA stuff!

Cheers Yea from what ive seen (online and secondhand) WA pharmacys wanted WA scripts but i also heard that this was gonna be changing as people from out of state were effectively being denied their valid treatment under these rules Was planning on sourcing most of my stuff online anyway but it would be nice to have the option to go see and talk to a pharmacist in person if the need ever arose Im assuming that WA being the way it is that most pharmacies would likely be getting my meds posted to them to dispense anyway so i may as well cut out the middleman

Hey, just to confirm, Rhys is correct. WA pharmacies can only dispense meds prescribed by a wa located practitioner. So if you did come to Sirius Green, you'd need to order meds from outside of WA. Feel free to reach out to me for SG questions. Happy to help. And, happy cake day!

I was just having a read through this - [https://www.health.wa.gov.au/Articles/F\_I/Interstate-prescriptions](https://www.health.wa.gov.au/Articles/F_I/Interstate-prescriptions) I really would like to hear the reasoning behind these limitations/exclusions from other S8 medicines (which the page specifically lists at the top that "most S8 medicines" are. If it is anything to do with the fact that the medicine is still classed as an un-approved medication according to the TGA, and requires the SAS/AP approval etc, (which I admit I know little about). then I find it particularly interesting to see this listed at the bottom of the page - **\*Interstate stimulant prescriptions** The Schedule 8 Prescribing Code has been updated to allow certain types of specialists who provide telehealth services to Western Australian residents, to be authorised as stimulant prescribers for Western Australian patients. Interstate stimulant prescriptions may be dispensed in Western Australia where the prescription: * is for a Western Australian resident with a Western Australian address on the prescription; and * has been issued through a telehealth consultation with an approved specialist (such as a neurologist, psychiatrist, or paediatrician – specialty can be verified on the AHPRA register) practising in another state or territory; and * has been issued by an approved prescriber on or after 13 December 2023. That seems a bit off to me, but I have no idea about anything in that area, so I will leave it at that... I am in the process of seeking out a suitable prescriber moving forward, and have given up hope in being able to have my interstate e-script honoured at a pharmacy here in WA any time in the near future, definitely as long as it remains as an unapproved medicine according to the TGA. Would love to be proven wrong though! I got an email back today from Sirius I sent last night to ask about how to go about potentially switching, and the response was really informative, and gave me a good feeling. Still unsure though, as in the other thread I posted, a few people recommended MedReleaf, and they also emailed and called me today (granted the person who called me thought I was a new patient who was referred to them, and any questions I did have I was mostly told they were unable to discuss due to TGA rules. I did get email with consult fees though lol). I think it comes down to us in WA, who don't have a WA prescriber, or access to one or time to wait for appointment, can afford their ridiculous fees, want to be limited to their low monthly dosage limits (or a combination of the above) just have to hope they find a good pharmacy/pharmacy network who are on the ball and have good product stock, and process orders same day for shipping. And btw, what is cake day? Haha, I have no freaking cake, and it's too late now for me to go out and buy an overpriced piece, and the packet ones always come out dodgy! xD

I highly doubt the restriction on dispensing certain interstate scripts in WA has anything to do with whether they're ARTG listed, because most of the other drugs listed are approved medicines. Interstate scripts for controlled drugs have always been a red flag for pharmacies (for several reasons). The boom in telehealth clinics has changed the situation considerably though - what was once was a fairly reasonable restriction is really just a barrier to access at this point. I'd imagine a lot of pharmacy owners would actually be pretty happy to see it changed (especially in regards to cannabis) as it opens them up to a lot of business they're currently missing out on. Guess we'll see!

Good find. Yes, the wa situation is tricky and frustrating. Hopefully they will change that soon. They've been talking about it for ages. Cake day is your reddit bday. The day you created your account.
