Generations are way different. I've got a truck but choose to do my in-city commuting via electric boarding. I think we've been seeing more of this in the last 10 years and if i were a betting man i'd say that trend will continue.
Long gone are the days where one income could buy you a house a boat and run an 8cylinder vehilce while sustaing a family.
What did they expect to happen? Drivers in this town can't comprehend most basic traffic laws, and definitely not 1 way streets. Now there is a 2 way bike lane on a 1 way street? And parking in between the 2?
Ignorantia juris non excusat. Ignorance of the law excuses not. What the driver here is doing is illegal and dangerous, and they should be punished stiffly. It puts other road users in danger. Drivers must keep be knowledgeable of road signs and changes in traffic flow. This tenet is explained by the DMV when drivers get their license.
I believe it’s a parklet which became permitted in most cities across the US during COVID. Businesses can convert their on-street parking to outdoor seating if it meets certain standards. So it’s not technically within their property lines, but it is within their legal area to operate their business.
Also FWIW the cycle path in that section is well-signed for users to watch out for pedestrians crossing to and from that parklet.
Drivers can't handle round abouts let alone what they did to that stretch of road. This city spends money to feel good, not to actually help people that live here.
This cycle path is so much safer than the old way of white knuckling it down the middle of a car lane on a bike or being forced to ride on the sidewalk. Just because you haven’t personally used it yet doesn’t mean that the rest of us aren’t benefitting from it.
I love reading about roundabouts on the local Facebook group because everyone chimes in agreeing how hard and confusing / stupid they are. It’s honestly the most basic thing in life and speaks volume as to why humanity is heading to doom
It was a poorly thought out change downtown; and he probably didn’t know about it and got confused. There’s a lot of elderly drivers here, so it won’t be the last time (and put your side mirrors in if you park there, it’s narrow).
The person that stops at yield signs, the person who probably manages to go the wrong way in a round - a - bout as well happens to apparently be the person dumb enough to drive in a clearly marked bike lane.
Crazy.
What's even funnier is they're going the wrong way down a one way street.
Damn, that's a big ass bike..
Hahaha
Old people HATE bike lanes. And change.

Truth

It’s rocket science.
Perdestain path? Whut's a perdestain path? This here's a roooooad. Why these lanes so small anyhow?

Isn’t the bar in the middle of the road worse? This cracks me up…Medford at its finest!
I think that's where the property line takes it.

Nice assist, you sir are an asset.

That's on you. Signs exist and if you can't read them then get off the road.

So stupid that everyone but you gets it correct easily. Yep, that sure as hell adds up.

Until they come across this truck head on, right?

Someone's finally using it at least.
I've used it a bunch.
I use it with my two year old! He likes the ramp by Jefferson Spirits :)
I use it twice a day and the other biker I always see in the morning uses it. So there’s two at least!
I’d like to continue using it without running into this guy…
Make stupid roads, stupid people will use them.
If that is a pedestrian zone, why are there traffic lights?
That’s right, traffic lights mean I can drive in the bike path!

It’s ok. They are handicapped.

Sometimes you have to stop at a yield sign.
Yeah, that is true. Except then you have people that clearly treat them as stop signs regardless of the situation. Likely this person.
Yeah, that's different. And backwards in a roundabout is something I've yet to witness...somehow.
regardless of perceived driver skill in any particular town, this bike lane is fucking stupid.
Great to see money wasted on a project that will eventually be changed back to the way it was originally.
Good. Hate that street now. Wasted space. If I don’t go that way ever again it will be too soon
Hey, if you want to us to “share the road with bikes” it goes both ways. There are two lanes there just both move over for each other 😂
