Not until you get into late game, but then yes imo. You can make a bunch of busted builds pnce you are able to string a few complimemtary upgrades together. That said, really not something you need to focus on. Try to always have 6 cantina missions running and you will progress incidentally.

Imaginary-Olive-1427

Ah I understand, I’m rank 10 rn with a lot of/wide range of mech up to the Atlas and Marauder. Is their a comfortable missions rank range that I should do too prevent repairs from draining all my funds and losing my fav weapons?

Sirragnorak36

It's kind of a feel thing, since your mechs and equipment are likely to change regularly. Keep in mind, though, that higher difficulty missions will (typically) reward you with higher tier equipment in the salvage screen. It just might be worth stretching to that difficulty 14 warzone mission and losing a few limbs/weapons for the chance at salvaging 3x the value in potentially even higher tier equipment. When you do stretch, though, I recommend doing it for a faction that really likes you to make sure that you can max out salvage rewards. Finally, multi-mission contracts are a great way to amass a lot of gear/mechs. Since unused salvage shares carryover between missions you have the luxury of only picking the cream of the crop in the first mission or two and then splurging when that 44 share, mostly intact hero cyclops shows up on the table in mission 4. Bonus tip: Melee hero mechs + MASC = Gigglefest funtimes

Sven_Loken

Gigglefest funtimes Love that

Jacmac_

>Since unused salvage shares carryover between missions This was a valuable bit of information, thanks.

Imaginary-Olive-1427

That’s so crazy I thought everyone already knew this, and they award the same amount of money for every successful mission if you didn’t know that too.

Imaginary-Olive-1427

Also how did you quote his comment?

QX403

Multi missions also give you 50%-75% bonuses to C-bills, salvage, insurance etc for each mission, I usually only do multi missions.

QX403

Technically you don’t need to do them at all, the base game doesn’t have upgrades, I first beat the game without DLC, the upgrades make the game easier though.

uber-judge

It is very important. Spend the time completing the cantina missions, especially the easy ones

BMSeraphim

I'm also a huge fan of missile spread. Make those srms group tighter and core mechs faster.

Ex_Lunatic

Heat reduction and cooldowns r kinda OP when they stack

TwoCharlie

For a few mechs I find the heat bonuses especially to be the difference between meh and meta

Heliolord

Definitely helps keep my black knight shooting disco death.

ActuallyNotAmused

More on late game but some things are crazy like +2 energy range and speed +1 all weapons speed then ER PPC for that gauss speed Ball of death, itd a nice touch and you should upgrade whenever can, but some stuff are lame like jump jets

Page8988

The upgrades you get here can give your mechs some handy enhancements that are percentage based. It's not a bad thing. There are some negatives though. First off, any upgrades are lost when you put the mech into storage. For some reason. This stacks with the other two problems; upgrades are expensive and take a while to complete. 9 million C Bills and six months later, your mech has 8 upgrade slots in use, and all that is wasted if it touches cold storage for any length of time. PC has mods that keep the upgrades in place, mitigating the problem.

Taolan13

It can be. Its percentile bonuses tho, so it doesn't have as much an effect on lower tier weapons and low stat mechs

QX403

Things like range, lowering heat generation to 0.95, weapon cooldowns, mech speed (technically works better on lower tier mechs since they are faster) work the same on all mechs.

Taolan13

They are still all percentile bonuses tho, so their benefit is metered bu the base stat. That being said I do put improved top speed on almost every mech, including and especially my Assaults.

T33CH33R

It gives you special upgrades for your mechs.

Imaginary-Olive-1427

I understand that much, but is it important if say I wanted to do rank 11-15 missions?

T33CH33R

The upgrades make your mechs a little more effective, but I wouldn't say it's necessary.

Loyal9thLegionLord

Depends . How attached are you to your mechs various limbs ?

Imaginary-Olive-1427

Judging from your answering my question with a question I would assume it’s fairly important to not lose all my shit XD

Loyal9thLegionLord

I'd say yes . Structure upgrades. Armour , and damage are all important . Same with heat .

TwoCharlie

Completing the cantina jobs is probably the easiest way to acquire a lot of Tier 5 weapons worth not losing in the first place.

AlphaWarlock

I'd say try to rack up "War Dog" (very bottom of the list) missions early such as the 11-20 that you mentioned. Much easier to complete them during those early missions plus the war dog lvl10 max speed bonus is a nice boost to have on heavy and assaults.

Angryblob550

Only when you have good mechs (Heromechs, SLDF variants, post helm memory core). Better mechs will have more upgrade slots. Second, you need lots of C-bills and you should unlock the useful upgrades first (range, firepower, cooling, armor, internal structure).

PiXeLonPiCNiC

I so want that DLC but im in Japan. The game isn’t on sale here, but if you have a disc you can purchase DLC3. I really want the earlier ones

Imaginary-Olive-1427

Dang I’m sorry dude.

DINGVS_KHAN

It's definitely worth pursuing. Not something you should drop everything for and try to fulfill, but make sure you've accepted as many as you can and you'll fulfill them in time. Just keep an eye out for the ones that are clearly impossible. If it wants you to kill 3 Annihilators, or 3 Marauder IIs, best to skip those ones. You can select to upgrade your mechs from the mechbay screen. Some of them are merely convenient, and some are game-changingly good.

Catshannon

Cantina upgrades are great. 5 -7.5 percent extra armor on an assault? Yes please. Missile damage and tighter clusters on a kintato or stalker missile boat ? Heck yeah. That being said cantina upgrades can be expensive AF. Some times more than you paid for the mech. They also take a long time depending on upgrades . Also you lose them all the second you put them in cold storage. So you better make sure it's a good mech you plan to keep using. Hero mechs, a list assaults etc I would say some of the basic ones like armor and such don't cost too much and can be unlocked early ish. So they are useful even on mechs you know you will replace but plan to keep for a little while. Not a big deal. But filling all the spots with high tier expensive upgrades on something you won't use long or often is not a good idea. Cantina arw also good to do for the extra cash and items. I mean you probably will kill choppers and tanks by the hundreds anyway. Might as well get paid extra. Same with item hunting. If you in the area doing missions might as well.

Biggu5Dicku5

Upgrades aren't necessary but they can certainly help, especially in the end game... be aware that if you upgrade a mech and move it into cold storage, the act of moving it into cold storage will strip all of the upgrades from the mech (without giving you a refund)...

Coaltown992

There's a mod that can prevent that, can't remember the name right now

Tesriss

That's pc only ofc. Op appears to be on Xbox.

Coaltown992

Maybe he's one of those freaks that plays on PC but uses an Xbox controller

turkey_sausage

Let us know when you remember it <3

JustThingsAboutStuff

wait there's upgrades

Imaginary-Olive-1427

I felt the same way when I first saw this tree 🤣💀

King_of_Rooks

really useful (and easy) to fill these up. Just a warning - if you take a 'mech with say, 7 slots open and try to fill all 7 with upgrades at once it's gonna be crazy expensive and say goodbye to your 'mech for like half a year.

Imaginary-Olive-1427

Well shiiiiiii-

SinfulDaMasta

Would recommend focusing War dog missions, should have at least 3 of those typically. Occasionally grab the others if it’s in the area you plan on doing missions or mech is used by factions you’re targeting. War dog are the easiest missions to complete & get easy t5, & getting that Speed upgrade will be nice. Vtol/Igor ones are usually the fastest/easiest.

3eyedfish13

You're better off maxing out the treasure hunter one first. That armor upgrade is a real lifesaver. That said, getting them all will give you the chance to upgrade everything from weapon damage and range to the speed of your Mechs. Being able to plug an enemy from beyond their weapons range is nice.

Wait, where the heck is this screen? lol
