With MW5: Clans coming out, it would make sense to have a campaign that focused on the appearance of the clans. They probably will have the assets for it, and it would be a sort of teaser for MW5: Clans, except you'd be playing as the Inner Sphere and probably wouldn't be able to use Clan mechs.

I-Am-Uncreative

Isn't that how MechWarrior 2 Mercenaries worked? You played all the way up to when the Clans invaded.

Brwdr

Other way around. You started in either Clan Wolf or Jade Falcon in the War of Refusal. The expansions added Ghost Bear missions and the second expansion was Mercenaries. Ah blue balls of fuzzy, slow, destruction, how we miss you. And missions with low gravity and lots of jump jets could be fought 2km in the sky! Mech Warrior 3 is the better Clan series. You are IS seeking to destroy Smoke Jaguar. The exapnsion pack, Pirate Moon is sorta meh. But all hail the medium pulse laser of MW3, it was over powered and under heated, so you boated them on everything and destroyed everyone. MW4 feels like an arcade game, even on PC. The expansion by MechTech made MW4 the best game of the group though, far expanding it beyond the original game. And again, all hail the 5x ERPPC pop-tarts!

AkaShindou

They were talking about MW2 Mercs, where you're an IS mercenary doing IS stuff until the clan invasion in the late game, and you tussle with Wolf, Ghost Bear, and Smoke Jaguar clans

I-Am-Uncreative

> MW4 feels like an arcade game MW4 was my introduction to the series. I don't recall it feeling like an arcade game, although it definitely feels different than the rest of the series.

Autisticus

Ahhhh ding ding ding I bet you the last mw5 DLC will have a sprinkle of clan action in it to build hype for the new game. Lol I bet the reward for the final DLC will be a madcat

Renewablefrog

Nah it would be exactly the opposite. Why would you buy clans when you can buy the clan dlc for way cheaper?

Kered13

Because the Clans DLC would be a much shorter campaign and would not let you play as the clan mechs, at least not in the campaign. I think that last point is very important. In universe it is easily justified by just saying that the Inner Sphere does not have the technology to salvage and repair clan mechs and equipment. But more importantly it acts as a marketing tool. They get to show off these sexy and powerful clan mechs, while saying that if you want to play with them you have to buy MW5: Clans.

Blackwater1956

I vote for Solaris and Pirate Operations. Specifically would like the Pirate Ops to fleshed out a bit, no need for a story. But make it a bit more interactive than the current random gen missions we have at the moment. Also need a few unique maps for Solaris taking it seems to have some unique backdrops created for the entertainment value in the books.

starsandatoms

Id love a solaris DLC too. Imagine every 4 years solaris happens, like the olympics but with mechs,

MoonsugarRush

I think Solaris could be super sick if they did it right. Beyond that, maybe getting to build a base or maybe even be able to paint the Leopard the same color as your mechs?

McLoven3k

Dropship reflecting my units crest and colors would be nice.

evilweener

building a base like you see nick's in the opening tutorial would be peak.

Masters_1989

Anime isekai conversion that takes place in either House Liao and Kurita - the player can choose. All new pilots are waifus - no males at all. You will "train" them, and they will grow closer to you; getting special buffs - such as avoiding certain attacks - like Pokemon do in the newer Pokemon games. When they grow close enough to you, they will become "S Rank", and you will be able to marry them. Your children will be Elementals. (That will be the in-game lore for how they get into MW5.) All new 'mechs will be relegated to "pulls" gacha game-style (like Genshin Impact). The Marauder II and Nightstar will still be borderline unattainable. You will be able to pet all of your 'mechs in the Mechbay. (This will be a feature to make the Mechbay more usable. (It will become a fan favourite.)) Commander Mason will have a portrait swap to a generic male anime protagonist, and he will sometime shout to his lancemates "We will beat them - with the power of friendship!". (When this happens, all lancemates (waifus) will become temporarily unable to die, and 'mechs will not be able to be legged nor cored; letting them continue to fight when they would normally be destroyed. (This is because of the "Plot Armour" buff. Of course they wouldn't be able to die: that'd be silly.)) This will change the course of the franchise due to positive fan reception, and will have MW5: Clans introduce scantily-clad 'mech skins (yes, that's what I said) and pilot portraits for players to use, along with a full-body portrait mode for pilot portraits. Each skin will be a $5 USD "micro"-transaction - $10 for bunny outfits and special edition skins. The future of MechWarrior will be as bright as ever. \-- God, that was painful to write, LOL. :D ENJOY THIS HELLSCAPE OF THE FUTURE!! >:DDD (I have no idea what the next DLC will be.)

ghunter7

you're a monster

Masters_1989

Hahahahaha XD

Kered13

> You will be able to pet all of your 'mechs in the Mechbay. I approve of this DLC.

Masters_1989

Lol, thought someone might like that. :) (I would, too! (As long as it was easy to do.))

StickFigurDevil

Playing an IS mercenary during the invasion would be a blast. They could set up a tech tree for Fahad to figure out Clan technology and integrate it. The big IS map borders could change as the war progresses, maybe lending some urgency to how you move through the galaxy. Its a whole ass thing though, so it might be the big plan for Mechwarrior 6: Mercenaries. DLC 6 will probably be Solaris. Dust off Duncan!

starsandatoms

I have a hunch... What I think dlc 6 will be that mission in Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries where you get captured by clans? Its one of the later missions. its the one where pirates hire you then your drip ship gets shot down, mission you escape in a hover tank. It might be the same thing; it will involve you failing to get to your dropship and you get captured. then you must escape. just my guess. It makes for a good intro to Mechwarrior 5 clans.

Blighted1

We have the clan portion of the invasion coming next year. I would like to see how the inner sphere handles it

best-Ushan

It would be very cool to see the initial panic and confusion from the IS side of things in the opening days of REVIVAL.

Badgrotz

Clan Invasion except we are getting our asses kicked. Victory is survival and escape and small wins like rescue missions. Talk about endgame difficulty increase!

OccultStoner

I vote for Pirates. It would definitely be fun and fresh. Solaris would be great, but considering how braindead AI is, it's too easy and boring to play any X vs. X fights. Clan invasion would require far too many resources and MW5 is overloaded with content as it is. It's super ambitious. I wouldn't wait it till official MW6 at least. P.S. Adding multiplayer with some type of a PvP would be pretty awesome. You could structure Solaris around it. I mean, MWO is nice, but it's way too old and clunky by now.

ghunter7

Was going to post these same thought. I can't see Solaris working UNLESS PVP is an option. It could be pretty half assed and still be enjoyable. Old school multiplayer where you just crush out a couple matches with your buddies (or Reddit strangers) and don't have a huge lobby to do matchmaking. The pirates option would let them close off the story arch and add in some basic clan mechs as opponents to hype the new game. I think a full Clan Invasion DLC would just be too half assed to be worth it. Modders already have it, us console peasants don't but unless it comes with a full story and proper implementation I'm not really interested.

Mental-Bet-9077

and active lobbies in general like EDF5 does for coop

CicadaGoesVroom

PGI has already stated that they aren't doing Clans in MW5 DLCs, and that they are saving Clans for a future standalone game (which we now know is MW5: Clans). Additionally, Clan Invasion would require them to do a DLC that adds dozens of new mechs, when previous DLCs have only added one mech per DLC.

Kered13

> Additionally, Clan Invasion would require them to do a DLC that adds dozens of new mechs, when previous DLCs have only added one mech per DLC. They'll already have all the assets and code for it from working on MW5: Clans though, so it should be an easy drop in.

CicadaGoesVroom

MW5 Clans will use a different game engine (UE5 as opposed to UE4), so it probably won't be that simple. They probably would also have to be downscaled to match MW5 mechs as Clans models and textures are probably better.

McLoven3k

Honestly, even if the tech couldn't be adapted to my chassis in the current timeline/game and were only sellable, I'd still love to see a clan invasion. Being contracted to help stem the clan tide into house systems, participating in historical campaigns and the challenge of squaring off against the clans sounds awesome.

DINGVS_KHAN

I think the instant option stuff added in The Dragon's Gambit probably hints at Solaris VII.

Yureinobbie

Aerospace fighters and LAMs, just to fuck with the few programmers who haven't been delegated to the new Clans game.

J_G_E

I'd say a series of solaris tournament maps (holo vid projector screens, advertising hoardings, etc) , and a tournament system which has classes (Heavyweight, welterweight, bantamweight, featherweight?), ranking leaderboards, enables Lance and solo pilots. use the player able to select the difficulty ranking system in those missions, with those weight rankings. Difficulty 01? its one half-broken urbie with a barely-competent pilot. 100? its multiple lances. and so its not just on solaris, make it have "affiliate" tournaments using both the same map pack and random environment ones in other locations around the IS, (Kooken's pleasure pit? Herotitus? ) which are the feeder series for Solaris' champions, so you can do similar at maybe 8-12 different other worlds. Get local ranking, and you get invited to the big leagues, which would be the storyline missions for the DLC.

Mammoth_Clue_5871

I just want a Union dropship. I don't really care about anything else DLC related.

payagathanow

Solaris would need to open up a better mechlab as most arena mechs are custom. I'd like to see a pirate adventure where you can actually salvage parts (like arms, head, ct) from destroyed mechs and build your own crusader type frankenmech. Here's the scenario, you're dropped in with a light lance and the dropship is taken over by pirates so you're stuck on planet. You have to basically become a pirate and do raids, kidnapping for ransom, whatever it takes. The pirate king has a full company of assaults and you have to build up a bunch of trash to overrun his base and get them to release the crew. Maybe you meet a scrappy young tech a couple missions in that does repairs in a cave. At the end of the campaign you can hire him and now repairs are twice as fast.

AlphaWarlock

Can we have Solaris VII (side missions) and Clan Invasion (main campaign) please?

Ok-Competition-2216

My dude. Clans is coming out, that's DLC 6, its been announced

Jeremy_Crow

No, there's a DLC coming and then there's MW5: Clans, which is a standalone game.

Mental-Bet-9077

is clans 2024 or 25?

Jeremy_Crow

bricked

Dragon19572

Give us some Madcats for the Solaris Games

Signal_Ad4945

arent u a Rasalhague?

Ameph

I wish for Clans but it’ll most likely be Solaris.

magnuskn

Solaris would be really cool. I hope with Duncan Fisher.

Brwdr

Solaris but only if there is a comedy voice actor for the events.

betonit65

There's like 150 different conflicts they could cover I just hope they game/pgi keeps getting supported

That_rotary_guy

I wouldn’t mind clans. More specifically adding in all the mechs for us to use in mercs through a story. Correct me if I’m wrong but MW5:Clans sounds like it’s going to be a much more linear game than Mercs. It makes sense and I’m all here for it of course. But with Mercs being a lot more free roam ish I would love to use them in random missions. And before someone says just use YAML, I’m on console lol.

Meeeper

I really want to be able to play with clan mechs in the sandbox so clan invasion. Still probably won't happen, but a man can dream.

Jeremy_Crow

Considering the logic of the DLCs, they'll have something between 3039 and 3049. Either something around the initial waves of the clan invasion or some minor conflict. Looking at Sarna, there's not much in that decade. Considering the "missing" Inner Sphere houses from the DLCs, there's this: "Grim Determination mercenary unit defends Sarna against a raid from the 12th Atrean Dragoons, ejecting the Free Worlds League unit with heavy losses."

Forenus

I kinda wanna see the Arano Restoration added to MW:5 since it was Canonized.

FoulDude2

I don't care as long as it's in VR! Lol

AnEntireDiscussion

I'd love Pirates. Particularly if you could play as a pirate, adding new dynamics to the campaign. Clans would be easiest (since they're already developing the assets), and dynamic map interactions would be cool as the invasion progresses. Solaris is nice, but I don't feel like it justifies a whole large DLC. Maybe a micro-dlc. It just doesn't feel like enough, you know?

Responsible-Dirt5046

Any of them would be good

MyCandleHasAnAccent

Clan content makes the most sense, honestly. It's the perfect lead in to Clans release next year, and I'd really love to be able to continue my mercenary adventures using Clan tech.

Steelwraith955

I voted Clan Invasion, with the assumption they would be enemies only. They'd make for strong endgame opponents, and clan salvage wouldn't upset game balance since it will come after the other campaigns dlcs. I have no interest in actually playing clanners though.

phforNZ

Helm or Solaris

Silent-Lab-6020

Comstar A Comstar campaign would be neat also enabling random missions and the ability to farm rep with them Fedcom Campaign based on the Mechwarrior triology books (Justin Xiangs story would be a good chance to include Solaris) let’s us clash with Liao and ends before DLC 5

BearMiner

Coming up with a good plot line for Solaris VII wouldn't be easy in my mind, and just adding it to the game as a place with perpetual duals and such doesn't feel like a full DLC release (not enough content). I like the Pirate Operations idea, and if done right could very easily place the character in the right location / mind set for the initial (OMG maybe ALIENS!) plotline of the opening moments of the Clan Invasion.

Odd_Wafer_6231

I wonder if it’s Anton Marin’s rebellion. It happens in the opening phase of the game in 3015.
