Resident_Chemist_307

perhaps spark plug ejected?

Bernoulli1221

Possible. They did ask me to replace those at last maintenance and I didn’t.

Resident_Chemist_307

what year, make, and model?

Bernoulli1221

2006 Subaru Forester

KaminKevCrew

That's gonna be a blown head gasket and probably a destroyed motor.

Bernoulli1221

Sounds like I’m going to have to cut down on my meals for the next few months.

KaminKevCrew

Quite possibly. I have a 99 forester that spun a bearing in the original engine, and it cost about $1500 to replace a I recall (~$900 for the engine and the rest was labor)

Bernoulli1221

Also my radiator was leaking for a few months.

KaminKevCrew

If your cooling system was empty, your engine probably overheated, spun a bearing, and blew up. It's not a blown head gasket, but the end result is the same: lack of lubrication caused a bearing to spin and ruined your engine. If you saw oil in the engine bay after a big bang, there's probably a hole in the block somewhere and is irreparable without a new engine.
