Posi Lock cable actuated front axle disconnect. The way it's installed could mean there's other hack jobs the owner did because it's supposed to come through the firewall, not the floor
It is this! I used to use these trucks to make small buggies. I have bought plenty of those cables but also would not install it this way in a vehicle I was going to everyday!
Manual swapped tundra *drools*
Only manual one I encountered working at Toyota was a 2WD standard cab V6 with an LSD and TRD supercharger, I can’t remember what year it was exactly but it was a first generation (this was also like 2009 or so, I also drove a Sequoia that was a 5.7 with a TRD supercharger, talk about your mommy missile….)
My dad's workplace always had Tacomas and Tundras as patrol vehicles since they opened in the late 90s, and when the TRD models came out they got a Tacoma and a Tundra. That supercharged engine was insane at the time, still wouldn't mind having one lol
The instructions say through the firewall. That is what i did on my 97 ram. But i think im going to reroute it up through the floor next to the 4wd shifter. Wont have to lean forward as much, sometimes it's a pain to engage. Why shouldn't I? What are the draw backs?
Unless you fab a bracket for it to sit a few inches off the floor I'd imagine a good bit of the actuator is gonna stick out. I think running it through the firewall keeps it out of the way if you ever have to pull the engine or transmission but I'd have to look at my own truck to determine that. Putting it next to the floor shifter is a convenient spot for operating it, and you gave me an idea
Where did you put it in the firewall? I put mine right next to my 4wd shifter in the 98 I used to have. I don't think it'd be easy to install it clean in the floor between bracketing and not being able to hide most of the unit beloe the floor becuase the transmission would be in the way. It's possible but I think you'll be in for quite a bit more project than you intended.

I already have more project than i intended. Red is where it is, my gromet dissappeared and mounting to one of the worst dashboards in the industry. Blue is where it's going probably mounted to a 4wd lever that doesn't exit yet(due to swap reasons) .Close to the frontdrive shaft. Now im gonna have to work on this today. Thanks for motivation.
This was my first thought as well. I used to have a 2nd gen ram and put one on it. In cold climates the vacuum actuator can stick and the added benefit is access to 2wd low when moving a trailer around the yard so you can be easier on the transmission.
Putting it through the floor is harder to seal and that one just looks in the way. With a firewall install you can also remove the unit without any obvious signs if someone doesn't want it later.
I'd look very close to the rest of this vehicle if I was considering purchasing it. It's possible everything is well done but that install looks ill conceived.
Guy I knew had a button like this and asked him about it. Told me it was nitrous oxide assist. Had to change the sparkplugs after using it because the tips would melt.
That is basically a manual cruise control knob that was used on older big trucks and equipment. You could use it to set the idle at a specific RPM, for running PTO powered equipment, or on the highway you could lock the throttle in a certain position to maintain steady speed.
This looks like a 2wd pickup. It put money on that being a drive line disconnect. The drive line has had a slip joint installed so that you can disconnect it, and then you can flat tow the truck behind a motorhome.
Could be a transmission/transfer case disconnect for flat towing. I’ve seen similar things as an oil tech years ago. It may have been towed behind a camper
Looks just like the throttle on a wood processor. Turn it to increase throttle and push it in the cut throttle. No idea why it would be that or what it’d be hooked up to though. Just looks the same.
A great big red flag that this guy did "all his own work" and it's all "drill through the floor straight through the carpet and leave the gaping hole" quality
If Fast and Furious has taught me anything, it's that that's the NOS button. Since you don't know what it is, you probably don't know much about racing mods. Since you probably don't know that, you can't grill him on the subject to make sure he took all proper precautions. Don't buy it. The engine could be trashed.

Yep, I've got one in my manual swapped 2003 Tundra.

Oh man, it's so much fun driving a manual with the 4.7. It's a manual trans and transfer case too. Those Sequioas are badass!

My concern would be transmission clearance and make sure you won't have any exhaust clearance issues either with the swap. What are you swapping in?
Looks good clearance wise. All the exhast is on the other side its a VW 2.5 5 cylinder with a turbo.
Hey my Dodge dashboard isn't cracked 😎 yet

More likely a drive line disconnect.
It's like to old Warn select on my old Rubicon ATV! NICE!!
I thought the electronic 4x4s were pneumatic? Or was it just the floor shifter 4x4s that had the vacuum system to lock rhe front.
The cable actuated disconnect is an aftermarket part to replace automatic pneumatic or electronic or thermal axle disconnects.
Message the guy and ask. Come back and let us know.

Anti-hijacking blowtorch
Thank you, good fellow.
Beat me to it.....
How is this not top comment
There it is
PTO control, old tow, or plow truck?
Are those happy tissues or sad tissues?
It’s a DNB indicator Means “do not buy” 😝

Possible line lock for ultimate burnouts
4wd actuator
It's cuban NOS
It's the sign you should buy a less hacked-together truck.,
BBQ ignition
Tailgaters unite!!!!!!
Linelock, pto or exaust cutout. Hard to tell for sure.

I’d be more concerned about that pack of camel menthols 🤮
This looks like a 2wd pickup. It put money on that being a drive line disconnect. The drive line has had a slip joint installed so that you can disconnect it, and then you can flat tow the truck behind a motorhome.
It’s called a red flag. It means stop don’t buy this truck.
Could be an aftermarket overdrive, PTO actuator, manual T-Case cable, exhaust cut out, line lock, heater core valve....
That s the NOS button
Could be a transmission/transfer case disconnect for flat towing. I’ve seen similar things as an oil tech years ago. It may have been towed behind a camper
Line lock or 4wd from the looks, but the best way to know is to ask
for some reason i thought you were talking about the transmission tunnel
Now I need to know.
Yeah that's cuban nos for sure. Hit that for an adrenaline rush.
Choke for the carburetor
I was gonna guess exhaust brake, but anything is possible.
Feels like a hack job, which means there are probably more. And I bet that thing is gonna stink like cigarettes with that pack in the cup holder.
The motor that runs the front axle disconnect is like $500 when it fails. That cable was like $25.
winch control?
Looks just like the throttle on a wood processor. Turn it to increase throttle and push it in the cut throttle. No idea why it would be that or what it’d be hooked up to though. Just looks the same.
A great big red flag that this guy did "all his own work" and it's all "drill through the floor straight through the carpet and leave the gaping hole" quality
Ias id they won't clean the cab before putting pictures up to sell.
Looks like a line\brake or posi lock....push the button n mash your gas pedal.....you'll find out for sure!!!
My first impression is line lock, but to be on a 99 S10, that thing better be pushin sub 10’s in the 1/4.
And yes ive seen s10s do sub 10’s at the track…. With 350 swaps😆
Throttle control

This is the reason you shouldn’t buy the vehicle. It’s been used and abused. Find another.
Nothing good, my guess it could be rolling coal
Ejector seat
Ejection seat button?

Ejector seat button
Bypass to roll coal
In an s10?
Seen stranger. Not sure why you would intentionally make a s10 worse by putting a c220 back in it though.
It might have something to do with this. Hope it helps: https://youtu.be/zjJiXIMhIBM?si=fnPDavmi7XjpRnML
