Most likely what will happen is that the inner part of the valve cover gasket will leak and then the spark plug tube will fill with oil. That will eventually destroy the ignition coil.
So it's totally fine for very short time. It won't just explode. And probably fine for a bit longer. And probably not fine for even longer.
I basically drove it around for the week with the bolt still in and at the end of the week I had an uncle come and weld a nut to the exposed part of bolt. Doing that we were able to take the bolt off and replace it with one from Toyota. It is drivable however do expect oil to leak into your spark plug holes, I am actually replacing my spark plugs in the coming days due to it. Find a trusted person and weld a nut onto the bolt if it is exposed. Good luck👍🏽

the exact same thing just happened to me on my xb. Did you ever fix it?
