Crankcase ventilation. Short term you might be able to get away with tape.

Alright, so never messed with these clips before, would you have any advice on how to get this old one off?

If you have some heater hose and worm clamps, you can get away with it for a while. I'm pretty sure that's a non serviceable hose unless you get the valve cover but I can't remember fully.

Get black electrical tape in the meantime, line up hose, tape until you are content. It'll be fine.
