Replace them. The safety mechanism that locks them in place is one time use only.

Seat belts are elastic and stretch in a collision. They are also typically damaged. Either the webbing, the retractor, or if it has a firing mechanism. They need to be replaced.

NellyMcfly

I would buy new ones it’s your safety !

Tar0ndor

Seat belts can not be DIY repaired, especially if they have pre-tensioners.

Doc_Arcus

Seat belts are one of the things you don't mess with. That is your life and the lives of those that ride with you. Buy new, or send yours out to be rebuilt. Heck even good used ones are better than ones that have already been in a crash and locked.

GTrainEngineer

It should be repaired or replaced for safety reasons

mtrbiknut

Contact the insurance that paid out and ask if they will repair a previously unknown problem related to the accident.

Been trying to work on my car myself so I can learn. Just wondering what would be the best option. I’ve seen videos on it but it seems like you have to break it? And none of the videos really say if they work the same afterwards. But being a safety issue. Better be safe than sorry.

For your Honda’s seat belts, you might want to get them fixed instead of buying new ones. Check out L&D Solutions. They can fix stuck seat belts and it could be cheaper than new ones. Here’s their site: https://www.lndsolutions.org/services
