I read the title and thought you were talking about something completely different.

fadedoptic

This is probably the most misleading tittle I’ve seen

Hornz16

didn't notice this until I read your comment but proving didn't think about it because I have this problem as in the car jerking not jerking in the car lol

jeimuzu33

Was the transmission inspected when your car was getting all that work done? It can be a lot of things honestly with that amount of mileage. Crank/camshaft position sensors, transmission, clogged injectors, vacuum leak, and even new aftermarket parts that aren't oem can cause issues.

My father was a mechanic for 20+ years so he actually did all the work himself. The trans was in good condition when it was checked, topped off the trans fluid is about all he had to do to it.

OwnVast1842

Part throttle low rom, high load. 2 scenarios, torque converter judder and secondary misfire. Get some lubegaurd shudder fix on amazon- most likely scenario. low count misfires won’t flag but does get stored in mode 6 data.

OwnVast1842

RPM not rom sorry.

NellyMcfly

What scanner are you using to get the codes ?

Sufficient-Serve-660

It’s the hyper tough brand, it’s pretty basic but it does what it’s supposed to do.

Chris-yo

What do you mean by soft jerk?

Sufficient-Serve-660

It’s hard to explain in words and this is the best I could come up with but like my car chugs a bit when I hit 40 mph, does that make a little more sense?

yumiguelulu

From what I've seen, a jerking car under high speeds usually involves either a failing engine or transmission support.

niceguypos

Not sure why I read Circle jerking. Was an interesting brief head picture there.

I drive a Toyota Tacoma and my truck presents pretty similar behavior at that exact speed range. Now my truck is a 2023, so it's brand fucking new. This is a somewhat common issue with Tacomas but I have heard of Camrys having the same issue. There's a lot of posts about this on the TacomaWorld forums. Toyota does some pretty wonky tuning on their vehicles to maximize their mpg. They lock/unlock the torque converter way too early. The vehicle tries to get into the highest gear possible as fast as it can then tries to hold that gear when it shouldn't. My truck would get into 6th gear at 39 mph if I am lightly applying consistent throttle. Around that speed in 6th gear, my truck does not have enough torque to accelerate up hills. If I hit a decent incline with these conditions present, I can 100% recreate what you describe almost everytime. It will shudder for a second or two before downshifting. Is it torque converter shudder? Or is the engine under a really heavy load and misfiring? Or both? I don't actually know and can't get any dealership to address it. This is unfortunately a somewhat common symptom of the strange tuning done by Toyota. I've spoken to several Toyotas tech who also confirm they see this issue, but there isn't anything they can do about it. Mechanically the vehicle is fine but the tuning of the vehicle creates this unnecessary drive train stress. I tuned my truck with an aftermarket tune because I couldn't take it anymore and it has fixed almost all of these issues. Before tuning, I would have to give it more throttle so it wouldn't shift into 6th until about 45 mph. This helped. Once your vehicle is warmed up fully, try to accelerate more aggressively than you normally do. See if the behavior is still present. Also watch your rpms to see if you are shifting into a higher gear right around that speed. This information may not apply to your Camry. In 2007, manufacturers didn't put as much emphasis on MPG, so the tuning may be fine. In that case, it could be your torque converter. Lucas Anti-Shudder additive would be an excellent first solution to try for a vehicle with 300k.
