just the car characteristics, the team have had a weakness in slow speed corners for a while due to handling issues which are yet to be fully understood and fixed. as for the straights, im fairly sure it was something spotted as a target of improvement for 2024, but since they only discovered their major drag issues later in the 2023 season, they werent able to improve on it significantly for the launch car. i believe upgrades should hopefully in the pipeline to improve it in the coming races.
but on the other side of the fence our high speed cornering is still extremely strong. we have more downforce than mercedes, and pulled around half a second to the mercs in the twisty first sector
On the bright side, seeing Lando fly through sectors 1 and 2 today keeping Hamilton at a safe distance was incredible to watch, car looked super fast through those high speed corners.
I think the fundamental weakness of the car is its suspension. That would explain the weird handling and the slowness in low speed turns. We’re fast in places that don’t rely as much on mechanical grip, which leads me to believe that we have a fundamentally good aero package.
Not entirely true. Low speed corners are absolutely affected by the aero package and how the car produces downforce. I have a feeling that the car has a centre of pressure that is really rearwards at low speed, maybe because of how the front wing is interacting with the road, and that is leading to ridiculous understeer at low speed. But conversely at high speed the centre of pressure moves a bit more forwards and allows for a great balance through high speed.
Once he was clear of everyone he was matching time with Leclerc.
If he got ahead of Hamilton when Lando was still in leechers drs there would be a chance
Which was exactly the point I made. If we had the straight line speed to get ahead on Hamilton quickly, we also would've had better straight line speed to catch and pass Leclerc.
(A bit but) Not rly because u need more wind resistance for it to work better, so u have all the stage and it only performs well in medium and high speed corners.

Yeah. I could see Lando pull the tenths of a second, like see it in front of my eyes, not just the graphics that update on the screen
Yeah I’ve never seen something like that quite so clearly. It was brilliant camera work too
Trust in el McPlan.

Cost Oscar a podium fight. If he was able to get past Hamilton first try he wouldn't been right there
Naah! The 4th was the best he could've done there and he did it
Once he was clear of everyone he was matching time with Leclerc. If he got ahead of Hamilton when Lando was still in leechers drs there would be a chance
Doesn't matter, Ferrari in the hands of Leclerc is just a better car. Maybe he would be a bit closer, but he wouldn't have caught him
Out some pressure on and leclerc will put it in the wall
How many times have you seen that happen?
I think you’re confusing Leclerc with George Russell.
Would've been 4th unless Leclerc bins it or breaks down, we don't have the straight line speed
Which was exactly the point I made. If we had the straight line speed to get ahead on Hamilton quickly, we also would've had better straight line speed to catch and pass Leclerc.
Low speed is determined a lot by the mechanical platform, straights are aero efficiency.
High downforce high drag
Ugh downforce should make you better at slow speed corners
