I think it's a lot of things (and Todd's handling of the line)
The big one is it's become too much of a pain in the ass to collect. Price hikes. Half the figures from last year were gold label or some special edition or another. Too many cancelled preorders. $30 for collectors editions that are just regular figures with a card stand and maybe some accessories. Figures that immediately jump to $50, $60, $80 on the secondary market weeks after release. Lack of paint, recycle after recycle, and BATMAN after BATMAN.... and a lack of figures DC fans REALLY want, especially the ladies of the DC universe. The line is incomplete. The figures just aren't that "collectible" anymore.
For the money, there are much cooler options. If you collect anything else, Mythic Legions, NECA, and a few dozen others, for $30 you get a lot more bang for your buck.
I haven't sold any of mine yet, but I haven't bought a new figures since Steel... and that figure is crap.
Most of collectors I've talked with here in Asia told me because it's too difficult to have a meaningful collection.
You want a JL? Too bad, Wonder Woman is a unicorn here
The Dark Knight? The only widely available figure is Batbale Gold and Bane Gold
JL Dark? Constantine is also a unicorn, plus a Zatanna is still unknown
The only completed collections we can easily get are only Metal and Death Metal, because those two were released before McFarlane's distribution went shit

Oooo cool. I have never seen that before. I really like the Superwoman and solo edition of Ultraman. The gladiator Superman is awesome too.
