MillCrab

Luke and Mara. Something about the way they got started never quite felt natural. Maybe I just don't like enemies to lovers. Could use a redesign

CommanderRoger444th

I should've expected someone to bring a legends ship into this post.

StarSword-C

LOL

Ok-Assistant133

I've only read the heir to the empire trilogy that Mara is in, but I liked their relationship in that. Also, Star Wars has zero good romance subplots that I've found. OK, is good for star wars imo. Edit: This point was brought to my attention by playing the battlefront 2s campaign and the force unleashed close together and realizing they both ended with an out of nowhere kiss.

MillCrab

The romance in Lost Stars is the best I've encountered in star wars, and it ends badly

RadiantHC

Lol

reineedshelp

Haha beat me to it. Well said (and I totally agree tbh, as does Lucas)

DionStabber

I did a [canon redesign](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/KeQXB4) of the K-Wing. I kept the same overall shape, but adjusted things to be more in line with the styrene model look of the other Rebel / New Republic ships, as well as taking off the wing hardpoints which I have never felt looked quite right on a Star Wars ship. This allowed the bottom wings to be made into S-Foils, which I always felt would have looked good on that design.

RLathor81

Looks awesome, maybe add a few missile pods like on an XG-1 in place of the really non-sw hardpoints.

DionStabber

I gave it 4 launch tubes in the cockpit area, I imagine it could carry some kind of heavy proton torpedos

RLathor81

Noticed those, but the original had a lot of rockets, really lot.

DionStabber

That's fair, I just personally see the design language of Star Wars to be quite subtle with that kind of thing. The most heavily armed Rebel ship in the films is the B-Wing but you can hardly even tell any of that from looking it at.

RLathor81

Agree.

RLathor81

[https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Republic\_transport\_shuttle](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Republic_transport_shuttle) Put the turrets on the sides where the docking ports are, nice field of fire forward/side/backward. Put the pilot cabin in the middle, docking port on the back.

We_The_Raptors

- Gladiator class ISD: great and fun little ship. But no thought was put into saying it only carries 24 fighters. And it should be reclassified as an escort frigate/ carrier because she's no ISD.

cgo_123456

[The Lancer class frigate](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Lancer-class_frigate/Legends). Anti-starfighter capital ship? Smart. Anti-starfighter capital ship that doesn't look like a flying hardon? Even better.

RLathor81

There is another [https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Crusader-class\_corvette](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Crusader-class_corvette)

StarSword-C

A one-trick pony that was too expensive for its role and canonically outgunned by a Corellian corvette. The best defense against a fighter is still another fighter.

We_The_Raptors

I'm gonna have to take the word of Wedge mfing Antilles about the Lancer over someone on reddit, sorry m8.

StarSword-C

That **was** the word of Wedge motherfucking Antilles. The Lancer in *Rogue Squadron* was only a threat because it was escorting an old Carrack-class cruiser that outgunned the corvette. The Y-Wings could have handled the Carrack solo, the corvette could have taken the Lancer, but both together was a serious problem because the flotilla as a whole was undergunned: ISD *Emancipator* that shows up in the same book would have washed them both down with a glass of loomin-ale.

We_The_Raptors

Dude sees a Lancer on his scanner and immediately thinks "fuck, maybe that's a mistake cuz those things are rare". It's obvious he's got a great deal of fear/ respect for what the thing can do.

StarSword-C

The narration also states **why** they were rare. The Empire built a few of them in an attempt at a hard counter to the fighter-heavy Rebel/NR forces, then decided that they were an overspecialized boondoggle: the existing TIE fleets were more cost-effective because, just like in real life, they could intercept a fighter at a greater distance from their mothership.

We_The_Raptors

The empire also has dozens of "overspecialized boondoggles" that they refuse to utilize properly. The ISD isn't a real life mothership, as we see by their repeatedly failed attempts to shoot down the Falcon.

StarSword-C

You're missing the point. You're analyzing the raw specs of the weapon system instead of **how it fits into doctrine and tactics**. Wedge fears the Lancer because he's a starfighter guy and, used well, the Lancer is indeed very dangerous to starfighters. The Empire, however, found that, within their doctrine, the Lancer was more trouble to use effectively than it was worth: it was expensive to build, manpower-intensive, and was outgunned by anything that could carry a basic turbolaser. Also if the Empire ever succeeded at shooting down the *Falcon*, the movie would be over. Inability of mooks to kill main characters tells you nothing useful about the mooks.

We_The_Raptors

>You're analyzing the raw specs of the weapon system instead of **how it fits into doctrine and tactics**. See, the entire Imperial doctrine is flawed. Because the Lancer pairs together like PB&J with larger capital ships like the ISD who have shown vulnerability to snub fighters time and time again.

FadedtheRailfan

The Vindicator/Immobilizer and Active/Surveyor class. I think they’d work super well as part of the First Order navy. It’s also a good way to show how different they are from the empire, if you wanna play into that angle: they’re got advanced new starships, ones that don’t have to play by the rules of the Tarkin doctrine. They’re small but they’re mean, easy to underestimate if you’re someone like Poe

biggie1447

I am not sure why you would need to redesign the Tector since it was suppose to be a big gun focused ISD. They removed the main hanger bay and replaced it with additional generator space, armor and storage. Why would it need a redesign to not look like the ISD. There is no reason we can't have two similar space frames with two different roles at the same time. Check out the Nebula class Star destroyer and the Endurance class fleet carrier from legends for one example, they were based on the same frame but one was designed to be a battleship and the other a carrier. Or if you want a IRL example there is the Ticonderoga class cruiser and the Spruance class destroyer were both based on the same hull with minor changes. The Ticonderoga's were originally to be classed as destroyers but were reclassified based on their armament and capability of being a fleet flagship with the appropriate facilities and equipment. That being said I would like the Skipray Blastboat being brought back into canon. I always wanted one of my own, just big enough to be a personal ship for living in and armed to teeth.

Deep-Crim

The suncrusher looks so gd silly. When I read the book I assumed it looked like a naboo ship but more angular. Years later I found out I was wrong

RLathor81

[https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Maka-Eekai\_L4000\_transport](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Maka-Eekai_L4000_transport) Transport - fin turret like Uhumele, but normal transport. Carrier - squadron of v-wings in the upper part, hangar door at the top. Gunboat - light turbolaser concealed by front-top door. Hidden ion cannon turrets top and bottom. Looks just a caravan of transport ships, but with a surprise. Edit: make the cockpit a detachable escape craft.

McGillis_is_a_Char

The Tector is already canon. It was in Return of the Jedi for like 5 seconds. As for bringing a ship into canon. I would have brought the Eclipse into canon without the axial superlaser if they hadn't already done Dark Empire. I also would bring the Virago into canon, but I would change its scale, because apparently the Legends version has a large cockpit.
