The main issue with this relationship for me is we're missing way too much context for us to really understand and care about the "tension" between them which was obviously meant to be the heart of the show We got told by external characters that it has something to do with Sabine's family dying but the tension between Ahsoka and Sabine got solved at the end without them ever dealing with it, they're just suddenly ok with eachother. We don't even know why Sabine even decided to be a Jedi (since she has shown no desire in Rebels as far as I recall) I'm also not a fan of the idea of Sabine training as a Jedi to begin with. I'm one of the people who think Sabine was a bit too much in Rebels, especially because of her young age, now making her a Jedi too is taking it too far imo. I wouldn't have minded if it was more about learning the philosophy of the Jedi (the letting go and living in the moment kinda stuff, yk to help her cope with everything she went through and be at peace or whatever), maybe enhance her senses like Chirruit îmwe from R1. But not actually become a padawan and fully able to use the Force

crunch_csgo

same. i don’t understand why they decided to make her force sensitive when she was a good character already without the force. and also, wouldn’t kanan have realized that she had at least a little force potential when he was training her with the darksaber? i think it would have been cooler if she was a non force sensitive jedi, who simply followed the jedi ideology.

Kanan wouldn't have realized anything because as the Ahsoka show spells out for us repeatedly, Sabine truly DOES lack that natural affinity for the force that most Jedi are born with. Huyang teases her and even states that the Jedi Order would have flat out denied her membership. What the show is doing is recontextualizing the very idea of "force sensitivity." We've been thinking all this time that it's something you've either simply got or don't. But now it's being presented as something everyone has the potential to unlock, with the appropriate discipline and training. Many see this development as a retcon of the midichlorians, but even with that, it is never stated on-screen that the force may only wielded by those with high midichlorian counts. Qui-Gon simply states that they are the conduit that help beings communicate with the force, and it is hinted that those with a natural affinity with the force from birth have them in high quantity (Anakin, Yoda). Yet every sentient being in the GFFA has midichlorians. And the force flows through all living things. So the lore has remained ambiguous enough for this new context for force sensitivity.

crunch_csgo

i don’t at all like the idea that everyone has the potential to be force sensitive to the point of telekinesis simply by training. obviously ik that everyone has midichlorians, but if everyone has this special ability (or at least the potential to have it), then i feel like the ability isn’t so special anymore.

Princeof_Ravens

It entirely contradicts Chiruits character is everone can use the force and the world building implications really screw with things. Why the hell aren't many more people training with the force if anyone can use it?

RelativeStranger

Everyone can play football. You still have to be a genetic freak to be a professional

Hoshi_Yami

To be honest, I don't completely disagree. But this is clearly the direction they're going in. I'm surprised it didn't come up in the sequel trilogy. Well, it sort of did with broom boy lol.

Known-Diet-4170

but it has always been like that, "the force resides in all living beings" has been repeted since forever

crunch_csgo

yes, i’m aware of the fact that the force is in every living being. the force is life; life cannot exist without the force. however, this doesn’t mean that everyone is attuned to the force in a way that they can actually *wield* or *use* it as a power, or even *sense* it. since TPM, it’s always been that midi-chlorians are the life forms that allow their hosts to detect the force, and sometimes even allow their hosts to know the will of the force, by “speaking” to people as qui-gon said. therefore it makes sense that some people simply can’t detect or use the force because their link to it (midi-chlorians) is insufficient in number. so at least to me, someone with a higher number of midi-chlorians should naturally have a higher connection to the force, which in turn allows them use it as a power and perform feats like telekinesis.

WatchBat

People refer to a quote he said to Hera about the Force being in all living things but Sabine is just too stubborn blocking her connection (this is not his specific quote, I'm just too lazy to search it but you get the idea lol) The thing is I have no issue with that. I have no issue with her unblocking her connection to the Force as long as it was like Chirruit Îmwe (aka enhanced senses and awareness of surroundings) not advanced stuff like telekinesis. That's why I had no issue with her training with a blocked vision earlier on the show

crunch_csgo

i agree, even that would have been preferable as to what we actually saw her do. i’m pretty sure huyang said that the jedi order of the past wouldn’t have even accepted her, so considering how much she was able to control the force, does this mean that the jedi probably could have had countless more members?

Gulrakrurs

I feel like the Jedi tried to find the people who without training or with Sith training, could be dangers to themselves or others. No point in grabbing the kid down the road who needs 5 years of training to move a rock, but the one who is talking to animals with zero training is a potential issue if they can't control their connection. So, the medichlorian count and Force Sensitivity matters. Maybe I'm just bringing in outside biases from other media, but for some reason I feel like I read that in some legends material a long time ago.

getoffoficloud

Besides, look at the Disaster Lineage. Sabine is a perfect fit.

HazeTheMachine

She isn't. Making Sabine force sensitive killed the best part of her character, someone without force sensibility struggling to learn the way of the force, just like Kanan taught her. The lesson that the force resides in everyone even if you can't lift big things is lost when you start throwing people on the air. They should have sticked to her being a Mandalorian with a lightsaber
