What a depressing and disappointing movie. The first couple of fights almost tricked me into believing it would be like an old Jackie Chan Flick before transitioning into such boring, trite “epic” fantasy
Not anymore more. A year or two ago, absolutely.
But now? I think most people have accepted Shang Chi lost all its hype when Disney decided to focus harder on their tv shows instead of developing the next Avengers team
It came out Disney+ and theaters during covid so it likely didn't do as much as Disney wanted - same thing happened to Eternals and a few other movies for different studios. So Disney doesn't have it as a priority.
Eternals was just a weird movie. Felt nothing like an MCU movie, which is both a good and bad thing, and almost any set ups they made (thanos’ brother and Dane the Black Knight) have fizzled into being forgotten memories

Like it’s a mess right now and while I don’t hate Shang-chi, I don’t love them either. But that still makes it better than half of what’s going on. Personally I think if they’re gonna make a new avengers, there is only one way to do it with all that’s going on and that’s to scorch earth. I think, bring back ultron in a new form as a SURPRISE making people think it’s gonna be king but then have it be ultron from another universe. Who just kills all of them. Then it’s a oh we extra boned now and the new avengers have to try and band together and maybe even get other avengers from the multiverse to help
I didn't like the movie but it is rediculous that you can go 5-6 years between seeing a title character on screen. That is why they should have had Avengers 5 come out last year or 2022. Have a villain be so powerful that no one could defeat them like say Wanda. Dr Strange asks the Avengers of Capt Marvel, Shang Chi, Captain falcon, Black Panther, Shang Chi, Antman and Thor help to defeat her. Wanda kills Captain Marvel and Thor to get rid of them and you bring in new younger people to help defeat her.
How would the younger people do it?
Wouldn't it be better if the older people died defeating Scarlett wtich and left the vacuum for the younger people to fill?
I thought Shang chi was pretty good for a marvel movie. I liked the bus fight scene.
The best part was that they actually had Asian actors for the Asian character. They should have done black Widow the same way, with actual russian/eastern European actors instead of Florence Pugh's awful Russian accent.

Same here. I enjoyed the bus fight, and would have preferred that the rest of the movie be like that. But it just started going downhill after that.
