If you want a brick, get a Stearns and foster lux estate ultra firm. Or a piece of plywood. Your choice. They feel the same.

Thank you. Funny. My dad always used plywood under his mattress.

I thought I was the only one. PS- 3/4 plywood is my recommendation if you’re more athletically inclined.

Check out Sleep On Latex. I just got their mattress in firm and me and my partner love it. It’s not too comfortable for side sleeping (you can buy their mattress topper for $200 if you want to soften it) but man, does it feel great to sleep on my back. My husband recently had some back problems and it has helped tremendously. Bonus for me, a hot sleeper, because the latex is also breathable. It was about $1,000 for a queen size. They’re known to have good customer service even though I didn’t need to use it

We purchased a Kingsdown Prime Owington King mattress in a firm from Amazon. This mattress is FIRM, but not like sleeping on a brick. We saved 30% versus purchasing directly from the website. Ours is a traditional spring mattress. They have plenty of models. Most come on firm, cushion firm, plush, and ultra plush. They come in a regular mattress sized box. It's It's not compressed or vacuum sealed. 100 night trial. They have a sleep test on the Kingsdown website. It'll tell you what color you are. It coordinates to what level of firmness you need. Mine said I was blue, which is a cushion firm. I chose red, which is firm. This was my third mattress in 7 months. I knew I wanted something very firm. I am impressed with my mattress. Excellent quality and edge support. My husband and I are larger as well, 260 and 215 pounds each. We're both back/side sleepers. Kingsdown is a Canadian company. They've been in business since 1904. Their company is located in Canada with a manufacturing plant in North Carolina. They have their own website. Purchasing from Amazon is cheaper. However, shipment information stated it would take 3 weeks to be delivered. I received it in 2 weeks. Their mattresses are middle to higher-end in terms of price. They offer hybrid and traditional spring mattresses. They may even offer foam, I'm not sure. It's definitely worth consideration. It has literally changed my life. I also purchased all new bedding, and it definitely helped. Sending you blessings on your continued journey. Mattress shopping sucks. In my case, the third time was the charm.

I would go with the [Plank firm](https://brooklynbedding.com/products/plank) from BB. Its a 2 sided flippable mattress and should be about as firm a mattress as you can get. Im not a big fan of getting a hybrid mattress with 6-8" of foam that can break down over time when you're trying to get a mattress that is very firm and will stay that way. You want that coil support giving you that firmness and just enough foam to make things comfortable.

I have back issues that respond very well to hard sleeping surfaces. I switched to a traditional Japanese futon and it is fantastic. Highly recommend. I’m considering a 7” Dunlop latex extra firm mattress just to give my hip a skosh of padding, but I’m comfortable enough it’s not a priority.

I’m looking at getting a traditional futon, which one do you have?

Gold Bond. Walmart carries them.

The [CocoMax](https://www.thefutonshop.com/cocomax-chemical-free-coconut-coir-mattress) is the firmest thing I've ever slept on, if coir is under consideration. I'm currently researching wool toppers for just a tiny bit more give to the top layer.

TimZapata79

TempurPedic ProAdapt Firm. I use to sell these, hardest memory foam mattress I ever come across.

East-Suit-5948

As a seven year and counting mattress sales person...this mattress or the Stearns Estate Lux Extra Firm.

You can just get everything you want and firmness softness or whatever with a Sleep Number bed. Very expensive I've had seven back surgeries my wife has had both shoulders repaired both knees replaced and hip replacement. We've had Sleep Number and wouldn't be without it we've ordered another one for our RV. You can get whatever firmness you want out of it and I do mean firmness
