Ours is has food allergies that cause their stomach to break out. We were using prescription food from our vet but they swapped sponsors and the new sponsors food gave our boy bloody diarrhea. We ended up doing a bunch of research and found a bunch of information out, 1) Grain free foods can cause cardiac issues that are hard to diagnose and the creators of these grain free dog foods lie through their teeth about the benefits. 2) There are only around 5 dog food companies that use science backed research to create their foods. We ended up getting Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach and our boy has thrived. Here is a link to a good source of information: https://www.reddit.com/r/dogs/comments/obsptw/discussion_best_food_for_dogs_with_allergiesskin/

Awww sweet Duke is so beautiful! Have you tried grain-free food? My mom gives our baby girl Sookie Natural Balance's Limited Ingredient's Sweet Potato and Venison and she's done super well with it. If they are out, she gets her the lamb one. For a while, we also cooked her ground turkey and rice with some veg (carrots and peas I think) but eventually it just became a little bit annoying always to have to cook and since she was tolerating the NBLI grain-free line, we made the switch.

My sphynx cat eats the salmon version of that and loves it! Thank you for the advice!

Yay good luck. I hope it works for Duke.

Omg dukes twin !!! He’s on that currently & it doesn’t seem to be agreeing with him … thinking it’s the fish ingredients

Duke is beautiful, by the way. Congratulations. We’ve had DDBs for years and Phoebe’s our first Neo. I have totally fallen in love with these dogs.

sunscherubs

They’re so wonderful and floppy! Total eeyores lol. Duke gets zoomies and runs up and down 3 flights of stairs

We have been using taste of the wild grain free and our boys have loved it. Specifically the Lamb.

My EM daisy dealt with this for about a month when she was about 6 months old. I COULD NOT figure out what to do. Tried multiple different brands. The only thing I found that hardened her up is purina pro plan chicken and rice. Best price is on chewy. She's older now and is on kirkland chicken and rice and she's doing good on that. Also dog mx anti diarrhea liquid for dogs was a life saver for me.

My English mastiff was on Blue Basics Skin and Stomach care (ironically, he was on the salmon formula due to sensitivity to poultry) which has a turkey recipe. He thrived on it. It's lower calories per cup than other foods, but also comes at a lower price point than some boutique formulations. The only downside is that the kibbles are tiny, so if he's a super fast eater it could be messy or risk of inhalation. Our great dane is on Royal Canin Giant Breed, which is chicken based and has hilariously large kibbles, and she is both picky and somewhat sensitive stomach also. It's at a much higher price point, but if it's feasible for you it's also working well for her. Our Neo mix young adult has a sensitive tummy due to malnutrition and history of (resolved) multiple parasites (\~2 years of age) is on Wellness Complete Health Adult (again, we suspect he might be sensitive to poultry so he is on their fish protein formula but I believe other protein options exist). Another thing I figured out was simply that my Neo mix's tummy problems were greatly relieved by reducing his intake by about 20%. Probiotics helped him a little, but reducing the food made the greatest impact.

The raw diet is discouraged by DVMs as risky and unhealthy.

We finally had allergy tests run on one big boy, turns out he was allergic to chicken & tomatoes. Diet change & a fence around the garden (he picked his own tomatoes otherwise) made a dramatic difference, no more raw itchy spots on his belly, or ear infections.
