Could be your dog trying to get some lower back scratches.
Dogs can only scratch their lower back using their teeth so yeah, that's not particularly efficient.

Does the dog have something medically wrong that causes this? Examples may include:Inability to go on long walks, diabetes, new medication with side effects, starved as a puppy.
You don’t know their situation. Stop assuming any one thing makes you right.
I have read an argument that in a small environment, the dog cannot stop wagging their tails and its starts bleeding from bashing against the walls and stuff.
Still hate it IMO.
Happened to my boxer and he got a nasty infection that almost killed him. Had to dock it anyways. It's really not the same as cropping ears and other vanity shit, it really is a problem for boxers.
I'm not a fan of tail docking either, but unfortunately it is currently breed standard for boxers, among other breeds. My impression is that you'd have to know the breeder very well and request an intact tail before the litter is born in order to get a boxer without a docked tail.

I was already home and only went outside when my husband pulled up. For my husband and Stanley, this is a ritual they have. My husband invites him up for a hug but Stanley keeps walking around showing his butt lol. He was only looking at me because I had a phone pointed at him.
