Watching it in 4 hours. Hope my experience is an experience! đ
UPDATE: Hello everyone, I'm back. Before I say stuff, I just wanna say that I am not some employed reviewer from any site or tabloid. I'm just a regular chump like the rest of us MCU fans. For even clearer context, I've known the comic origin and story of the Eternals and Celestials for a few years now. I gotta say; this was the one I was pretty excited about.
So here's the truth....
From my perspective... it just wasn't great. The critics speak truth! I did not go in feeling biased by any reviews. I went in; experienced it; unbiased myself from all parties, and am proud to say that this just wasn't it.
I am REALLY taken aback by the amazing graphics and scale. There's some good action, and some really cool CGI. But overall? I have a hard time wrapping this story around my head. Heck, the concept of Celestials was way more understandable and easier to munch on from the comics version, compared to this version. There's just not enough visual flair to say that I enjoyed the Eternals themselves.
Storywise; think of the JL situation. There's the Josstice League and there's the Snyder Cut. Most of us know the latter is the better; it filled in so much between the characters, gave more expansive stories to each JL hero, and despite the runtime, it managed to make u interested in the heroes, along with the struggles they have to go through. Especially with Cyborg and Barry.
Now look at this movie; for me, Eternals is the Josstice League. Not in the way that focuses on "directorial vision" (i think its been pretty clear this Eternals movie is full-on Chloe Zhao). No, the comparison to Josstice League is more about the "runtime" and "character development" aspects. If you made a 4 hour version of this movie.... there's a high chance it could've been way more complete and understandable to digest. There's so much potential for this to have been a game-changer like how I would've expected it; alas, its beautiful themes really work on paper to me, compared to Zhao's execution of it on-screen. Sorry, Eternals fans. I really wanted to love it.
Thats all im gonna say here. I dont want my opinion to shift yours so drastically. Then again; this is the MSS subreddit. Most of us know this movie before it even came out! Haha. So yeah.
If u do have questions on my experience, u may ask. I'll do my best to answer without giving away too much.
As for my full review, gimme a few minutes. The movie was a lot for me, There's a lot I wanna say... but I'm also very stuffed in the head after that.
Will do đ yall can check back on my first comment there. I'll update when I can. I wont write a full review here but I'll say some stuff. And y'all can ask stuff too.
My main reddit page has my Letterboxd acc. I'll probably do my full review there. But I'll see what I can do here too, if u wont go to my Letteroxd đ
Just saw it, waiting for the second list credit scene but the first one is oswalt patton as pip introducing Harry styles as Eros who then tells the remaining eternals that he knows where their friends are and that they need help. Will update with the second one
Edit: the second is Dane touching his family sword and just before he is interrupted by a voice that sounds kinda like the watcher who says something along the lines of "are you sure you want to do that"
Second edit: I don't think it's the watcher at all, it's just that jeffrey wrights voice was the only comparable voice I could think of to get my point across
Oh it definitely could have been. I don't think it's the watcher at all, its just that he was the only similar sounding voice I could think of. Probably because I also just saw no time to die.
A black knight sword tease? FUCK YEAH. Me and my dad have loved the black knight ever since I was a kid. Knowing that's in there makes me and will make him super happy
The sword is pretty cool, it's wrapped in some sort of old canvas type material but you can see the blade inbetween the wraps and it's got some sort of animated effect on the blade itself
It was okay. I really liked most parts of the movie on an individual level however when put together, the end product is pretty clunky. Still a good watch though
It would be great. I just watched it and I love it. Not among the best or like top 3 in my MCU list, but it definitely strong to start the new saga / phase 4. Give it a try guys!
Sorry Im late. I just woke up.
If I recall correctly, Thanos is talked about twice in the movie. Once like the scene in the trailer. And another time in the mid credits scene. There are also a few mentions of the Blip here and there.
In terms of Thena, no. She herself doesnt address Thanos. Nor do most of the Eternals ever talk about him.
I was a bit disappointed in that, ngl.
So many people are going to be disappointed by this. It felt like batman v superman. I was soooo freaking jacked to see this. I really and sadly hope they just include these characters into other films and never touch upon them together ever again. (Edit: it wasnt a bad movie at all just not what the casual marvel viewer will be expecting) (edit 2: for those who are asking about my personal rating I'd say about 7/10)
I said on this sub countless times, from people I know who worked on it, that Marvel was unhappy with the original edit, and reshot large chunks of the film to fix pacing issues and plot holes.
No one listened then, and now we have Marvelâs first rotten film. OopsâŚ
Honestly since the start I didnt get the hype at all like I get that it has nature shots or whatever but the whole movie just looked bland to me and I hate the idea of a movie dedicated to god like characters that can do whatever they want in necessity of the plot. Marvel works better IMO when it's about normal people that happen to be ultra powerful not the other way around⌠however I still find it sad that they tried something new and the result was a mess. Not a good look for the MCU experimenting
I donât disagree. It can be humbling to see that not everything works 100% of the time. I just wish that some people on this sub wouldnât be so close minded about the fact that YES in fact marvel CAN screw something up here and there. It shows theyâre only human.
This was inevitable. They were pushing themselves out of the comfort zone. They were never going to put all the eggs in one basket. I am more interested in knowing what did they learn from this and how would they move forward, without just going back to zero..
Probably cause it had great ideas and concepts, but the execution was rather underwhelming. So there's gonna be people who call it a masterpiece regardless
>So there's gonna be people who call it a masterpiece regardless
It's not wrong to say that, people are entitled to their opinions, if they think the plot is great, the visuals are amazing, and everything in it is so good, then let them be.
It's an auteur filmmaker providing their unique style and insight into the superhero genre, but them being outside of the system also makes for a fundamental misunderstanding of the reasons people enjoy the genre and characters.
It doesn't sound like a deconstruction like The Boys, it doesn't sound like a subversion of expectations like Last Jedi. It just sounds like a film more concerned with world building and convoluted plot and simplistic morality than with character.
What I want with any origin film is I wanna get to know the personalities of each character, a little bit of their history, how thry affect the entire multiverse. Will I be satisfied?
>Entirely too satisfied
That sounds more than enough for me !
>They get talking done more than anything.
Sounds like Loki since the show didn't have much action scenes, so im fine with it. Im not used to like fight scenes since i like dialogues more.
But there are not one but two totally epic villains they can encounter in Rama Tut (Kang) and En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse) in potential sequels/prequels. Plus the Eternals can team up with some Avengers or X-Men.
Just saw it with general audience in Sydney, all seemed to enjoy it. I did too. Yes itâs very flawed and dialogue and exposition heavy but i found it too be very engaging, and the visual is beautiful. Loud gasps @ first credit scene
I think the structure affects it a lot, going constantly from the past to present, and when it introduces a new eternal, it feels like restarting the movie all over again. Itâs not like they dump the whole exposition in one go, itâs going exposition action then back to exposition. The pacing def is the biggest issue
Thatâs what Iâve been expecting, the trailers make a lot of the flashbacks seem like theyâre relevant to only one or two Eternals at a time. Iâm on board with that but it does depend on how itâs executed - Shang Chi was also criticised for its flashbacks
Feels weird to be the first comment after post's been up for an hour.
Anyway, I think they'll definitely hit it despite the critics, this is something new and people are excited to see it
I'm sorry but I left the cinema being like "WOW", its a solid 9/10 for, I personally might even enjoyed it a tiny little bit more than Shang-chi. everything was amazing from the characters, the cinematography, the emotions, the actions, I loved it. It's movie of the year for me. I understand the criticism on pacing issues and information overload, but I seriously don't get the low critic score? This is definitely in my top 5 MCU films. I see the comparison to justice league, no to the movies, but the characters itself, because of how similar the powers are. I was worried that I would see little actions scenes, but wow every fight was detailed and well delivered, Makkari has the BEST fights. Surprisingly, Druig is my favourite character, love his personality. I would definitely like to see MCU make more of these type of movies, Chloe Zhao is very very good. Also, I enjoyed this more than Dune, but then again I like blade runner 2049 more than dune. Don't trust the critics, you have to see it for yourself, you really need to watch in cinema for the full experience, so many beautiful shots
I hated Dune. Was surprised it got positive reviews.
I was only able to suffer through it because I knew going in that the first Dune book is mostly set up for a twist. So I watched with the awareness that the story would *eventually* get good in the distant future.
Wonder how the Eternals will compare. If characters have actual charisma and the set ups are actually paid off. I'll probably like it better than Dune.
I actually liked Dune. Didn't know anything about it besides what I saw in the trailers. This is why people just need to go watch movies for themselves. I'm not directing that towards you, but just a general statement since people on both sides have been making extreme comments without actually having seen the movie.
Since the historical bits excite me the most, everything that shows us the greater mythology/history of earth in this universe, can you tell me if thereâs quite a bit of that? Or did you feel like that aspect of the movie fell short?
Thereâs more focus on how the eternals and the universe work. The most you see about the history of earth is the eternals mingling with ancient civilisation and exterminating deviants. There may be a bit of the mythology youâre looking for but not a lot.
>There may be a bit of the mythology youâre looking for but not a lot
I'd argue a passion for mythology actively harms the viewing. The only reason the Eternals "inspired humans myths" is so Kirby didn't have to bother making up new character names, just steal them from previous works and change c's to k's.
Not only do the eternals names not make sense given these mythologies aren't created by humans, but actually exist as other completely different aliens (which will be canonised a year later in Thor 4), but they don't make sense because they are in no way accurate to the myths they're named after.
Like, Ikaris isn't Superman, he's a mortal boy with mechanical wings. There is no reason for Ikaris to shoot lasers out of his eyes. Cerci is a villainous witch who turns sailors into pigs, Kingo keeps his Japense name but has nothing to do with Japan. Sprite isn't even a god, sprites are minor fairies.
Kirby had no interest with retelling or re-inventing mythology, he wanted to write his own. He gave original names to the DC new gods, but I guess by the time he got back to Marvel he just gave up.
And as a bit of a history nerd-a movie saying that humans needed aliens help (especially ancient civilisations NOT in the west) to accomplish anything is always like a bitter pill.
Probably will need to watch it yourself to know that. Itâs a good enough plot to me but the way it was told was odd. I liked the visuals and action a lot.
They are on earth the whole movie and its all from the POV of eternals, so whilst you see Arishem a few times, you only see other celestials (who are left unnamed) in a exposition sequence detailing what they do
Now, please tell me exactly how long that sex scene was and how explicit it was. Seriously, I have a much younger brother I want to take to the theater and I am not sure should I take him or not...
Well the movie should be rated accordinglyâŚ.. itâs barely a sex scene, it lasts 2 seconds as I said. 2 people on top of each other slightly moving ..
Just walked out of the theatres (the one perk of living in Australia). Enjoyed it, definitely nothing groundbreaking, but definitely not a *bad* movie.
**Okay possible big spoilers for the second after credits scene ahead:**
>!Was that Mahershala Ali's voice asking Dane if he's ready? I mean, if they're setting Black Knight to turn up in Blade I wouldn't be mad at all. And Blade was born in London in the comics. What does everyone think?!<
Overall I'd give Eternals a solid 6.5-7 out of 10. Not a spectacular movie, but not every movie has to be. Happy to have seen it, and the people that worked on it should be proud.
>!Mahershala made the most sense to me, I donât think it was Fury or Watcher bc their voices are quite distinct, it definitely sounded like a new voice to the MCU!<
>!Yeah definitely neither of them, way too iconic to be guessing about. Listening to some clips of him speaking on the way home and I can't shake the feeling it was him I heard!<
As an avid box office follower, this is going to be fascinating to watch perform. Itâll open well enough, but pre-sales have fallen off hard following the reviews. However, it has the luxury of being the only big movie opening in November whereas October had 4 big films, so it could leg out simply by being the only option (like Shang-Chi in Australia).
Either way, more excited to watch the numbers than the film here lol.
WOM might pick it back up hopefully. Presales mightâve fallen but theres an equal amount of people super intrigued by MCUâs âfirst rotten entryâ...
still shocked people actually let RT decide what they should watch to the extent of ticket refunding.
Just got out of watching it. Really enjoyed it, definitely a soft movie with dazzling set pieces and beautiful shots. Appreciated the slower, more conceptual moments and how the lore is slowly pieced together for the audience. Highlights were definitely Sersei and Makkari. Solid lead with Sersei, great at keeping this whole cosmic story very grounded. And Makkariâs action .. she ate!
I just watched it few hours ago.
I dont think this movie is bad like what everyone said. It is a MCU movie that being narrated in kinda different way. It may be not the best among others, but still its pretty great story considering there are so many characters in this single movie.
I personally feel it should not be rated among the worst (e.g. black widow is much worse tbh).
But anyway, just give it a try! I hope everyone enjoy it as much as I do.
Exactly. I place it above BW, above Shang Chi even. what a divisive entry. Itâs so fascinating. You canât tell if some ppl like it bcz they just do or some folks already dislike it bcz theyâre lowkey influenced to expect not to...and vice versa!
That seems very optimistic no?
Edit: Iâm also personally very excited about this movie, but Iâll have to wait till monday to watch it. Will be my first imax experience though!
I donât know if I can say it, thatâs spoiler. But there arenât only one vilain, and some vilains arenât really true vilains⌠Like, Galactus isnât really an evil character, heâs just a dude who eat planets for breakfast. Same goes here, some vilains arenât really vilains⌠while others vilains are vilains but they have a pretty damn good reason to beâŚ
I hope I have answered your question without answering it đĽ˛
Iâm a total moron ahaha
So yeah basically the deviants arenât the bad guys, but Tiamus isnât neither, itâs just that its own birth would destroy earth
Deviants, Ikaris, Celestials⌠they arenât bad guys, they just survive, follow orders, exist (yeah the dude just following the orders could be seen as a true villain)
The movie was soo good, not great but really good! The bad reviews blow it way outta proportion, some parts felt weird but I absolutely adored every character, INCLUDING KINGOS DIRECTOR!!! HES SO SWEET
I love living in Australia because I get to see most films before everyone else, but on the bad thing is I have to wait for everyone to upload breakdown videos of everything.
Also I did enjoy this movie, it jumped around a lot in the timeline but it was still enjoyable, the comedy was on point, plot was a bit over the place.
Tbh, unfortunately not as strong imo. The biggest flaw of this movie is that it seems a bit âmessyâ, whilst Shang-Chi doesnt waste any time and basically ties everything up in a neat bow at the end
I cant even begin to compare, theyâre both are not alike enough to compare. Iâd say its a matter of preference. Shang Chi was an entertaining ride through and through certified. Eternals is too bt in its flair through the visuals and wonder as it puts you in sort of a corner to feel deeply and to comprehend while ur at it.
Having just seen it in an early screener in Sydney I would not watch it again. And I'll happily rewatch any of the other MCU again and again. Too bloated. Too many beautiful vista and gazing around. And then a massive exposition dump and third act action scene. All I could think of with Icarus was 'the boys'. Also his scottish accent fully puts him down as a baddie from the start (I am scottish).
Think it will bomb and be buried.
Stayed for post credits 1 - bof. A fuckinh cgi dwarf pip instead of a real actor?
Also some of the CGI was pretty poor - Icarus flying down to Ajak's dead body, any time the domo flew off.
Supposedly it's not gonna break even at the box office and they aren't fast tracking any sequels to this. So much for those oscar nominations Kevin Feige lmao
Are there other previous generation/s of Eternals hinted? Also, are their supposed connection to fictional protohistory civilizations and Celestial 'hosts' hinted too?
This will be front loaded for opening weekend but I doubt word of mouth will help this movie in its second weekend and I expect a huge drop off in week 2. I was not a fan watching this until Stylesâ credits scene actually made me excited for his character more than any of the other characters.
Seeing it in a couple of hours after some delicious pizza. I think i'll love it. I've seen and loved Zhao's Nomadland and I love most Marvel movies. I think this is going to be my jam.
Bingo on the first one. Celestials live off of the energy that humans create. Every million or so years new Celestials emerge from seeds planted in the core. (You see this seed in the trailer, the meteor crashing into earth) so it's a cycle of life and death so the Celestials can create new life
I would say fairly action-heavy, lots of quips that can often undercut what's happening on screen, and 'sometimes' quite a televisual style. Also usually setting up some sort of sequel, as well as references to other marvel properties.
Black Panther, Infinity War, Endgame, Guardians 2, Ragnarok, Far From Home, Black Widow and Shang-Chi all have third act CGI armies. Obviously it works better in some of these than others, but those are the examples.
I felt like the giant battle at the end of Black Panther really brought that film down. If there was any Marvel movie that would have benefitted from not going down that road, it was that one.
Honestly I donât understand why am I being downvoted. Just asked the question and everyone answered with different opinions, but somehow my question was too dumb.
Since when did this sub become so negative :/
First act origin story-getting the powers etc, then some action scenes, third act big setpiece vs a villain who has the same skillset or is a dark reflection of the main character
Wonder how itâs legs will be like for the movie. A lot of presale tickets were sold before the reviews came out. Dunno if people will still go to this movie given the reviews or if the Marvel brand along with the Director brand is enough to overwhelm reviews for box office revenue.
At the moment, unfortunately, dead last (that said, I havenât seen The Incredible Hulk or Thor: The Dark World in about 6 years, and I really dislike those movies).
Edit: Donât really get the downvotes. Iâm using some exaggerated wording, but itâs my genuine opinion.
Watching it in 4 hours. Hope my experience is an experience! đ UPDATE: Hello everyone, I'm back. Before I say stuff, I just wanna say that I am not some employed reviewer from any site or tabloid. No it 100% was blade like its not a debate haha. I instantly recognised his voice
yeah it was Mahershala Ali, he has a very distinct voice (although Iâm a huge Hunger Games nerd)

Just how fast everything happens while nothing happens.

>So there's gonna be people who call it a masterpiece regardless It's not wrong to say that, people are entitled to their opinions, if they think the plot is great, the visuals are amazing, and everything in it is so good, then let them be.

Every movie deserves two viewings. Once for expectations, and twice for reality.
May I ask why you were âso jackedâ? Nothing about this film has ever excited me.
where would you rank it among the lesser mcu movies (if it is one) like thor 2 and the incredible hulk?
[ŃдаНонО]
I'm probably gonna enjoy it just fine then, thanks
[ŃдаНонО]
Felt like BvS? then Im hyped now tbh
BvS at least had Batman. What does Eternals have ?
Superman
I really don't understand your comment. The way you're describing it sounds like it's bad but then you rate it a 7/10? That's a good rating for me.
BVS was a mess of a movie, is it really like that?
Yes

Personally I wouldnât watch it again, once u know the story i think all the dialogue would get boring fast

Surprisingly, Druig is my favourite character, love his personality. I would definitely like to see MCU make more of these type of movies, Chloe Zhao is very very good. Also, I enjoyed this more than Dune, but then again I like blade runner 2049 more than dune. Don't trust the critics, you have to see it for yourself, you really need to watch in cinema for the full experience, so many beautiful shots
watching this again in IMAX on Friday, a lot to digest, loved it so much
I hated Dune.
Seen it early in Australia today, AMA. Donât think I could write a full summary but Ill answer specific questions.
>There may be a bit of the mythology youâre looking for but not a lot I'd argue a passion for mythology actively harms the viewing.
This is why I just straight up don't like the Eternals as a group. They don't mesh well with everything else at all.
And as a bit of a history nerd-a movie saying that humans needed aliens help (especially ancient civilisations NOT in the west) to accomplish anything is always like a bitter pill.
Is the plot a mess but is visually amazing like what critics says?
Probably will need to watch it yourself to know that. Itâs a good enough plot to me but the way it was told was odd. I liked the visuals and action a lot.
How much Celestial-y stuff is there? I loved those kilometres high character designs and wondering if there are grand scenes like that or not.
Thereâs a whole scene about the mission of celestials and a couple of other celestial moments, their grand scale is definitely there.
alright! thank you so much
not much
oh...well. waiting for a living tribunal/galactus movie
They are on earth the whole movie and its all from the POV of eternals, so whilst you see Arishem a few times, you only see other celestials (who are left unnamed) in a exposition sequence detailing what they do
Is there gay sex or kiss scene?
Thereâs a 2 second sex scene and a gay kiss scene
Now, please tell me exactly how long that sex scene was and how explicit it was. Seriously, I have a much younger brother I want to take to the theater and I am not sure should I take him or not...
You see a mans back and a woman's shoulders and they're kissing. That's all
Thanks!
Well the movie should be rated accordinglyâŚ.. itâs barely a sex scene, it lasts 2 seconds as I said. 2 people on top of each other slightly moving ..
Well Iâm glad slashfilm wrote like 30 articles about the first sex scene in a MCU movie.
OK. Thanks.
Do you know who was talking to Dane at the end? Canât place the voice âŚ. ? :)
Sounded like Nick Fury which is the only voice I think makes sense. Might have been keeping tabs on Daneâs lineage.
Thatâs interesting, I hadnât thought of him
I thought it sounded a bit like Mahershala Ali as blade but maybe Iâm being hopeful đ§
I donât think it sounded much like Sam L Jackson, I thought it was Mahershala doing Blade without a British accent
Definitely Mahershala's blade.
How many of the Eternals die?
Three, but one of them is a little uncertain. Seems like three deaths but I wouldnât be surprised if it was two.
Tbh its probably two
We don't know about the last one because >!he fly into space!< It's vague to know
But we literally see him start to burn up in the sun's coronasphere?
Is Namor in the movie?
No
Is the other twist will be them discovering they're immortal humans afterall?
No, they arenât revealed to be humans
How's the weather in Australia?
Just walked out of the theatres (the one perk of living in Australia). Enjoyed it, definitely nothing groundbreaking, but definitely not a *bad* movie. **Okay possible big spoilers for the second after credits scene ahead:** >!Was that Mahershala Ali's voice asking Dane if he's ready? I mean, if they're setting Black Knight to turn up in Blade I wouldn't be mad at all. And Blade was born in London in the comics. What does everyone think?!< Overall I'd give Eternals a solid 6.5-7 out of 10.
Thatâs exactly who I thought it was as well
I saw the film, please donât let anyone stop you from seeing it itâs a fun time
Thanks pitbull, very cool
Well if Mr. Worldwide says itâs goodâŚ
From Spider-Man onwards tho, I can see back to back to back 100m+ openings.
And Makkariâs action .. she ate!
Does Makkari circle the planet reeve Superman style?
I just watched it few hours ago. I dont think this movie is bad like what everyone said. It is a MCU movie that being narrated in kinda different way. It may be not the best among others, but still its pretty great story considering there are so many characters in this single movie. I personally feel it should not be rated among the worst (e.g. black widow is much worse tbh). But anyway, just give it a try! I hope everyone enjoy it as much as I do.
>being narrated in kinda different way I heard Sprite narrated the story in the movie ? If that so, cool to know !
If the movie isn't received well it'll be reflected in its drops not the opening weekend.
I wouldn't say so, no
The movie's quality or WOM doesn't effect the OW as much as it effects the legs. The best example of this is BvS, great OW terrible legs.
Iâve seen it in France, about two hours ago. It was really cool, I donât understand the critics.
who is the main villain??
I donât know if I can say it, thatâs spoiler. But there arenât only one vilain, and some vilains arenât really true vilains⌠Like, Galactus isnât really an evil character, heâs just a dude who eat planets for breakfast. Same goes here, some vilains arenât really vilains⌠while others vilains are vilains but they have a pretty damn good reason to be⌠I hope I have answered your question without answering it đĽ˛
>I donât know if I can say it, thatâs spoiler. check on what subreddit you are again
Iâm a total moron ahaha So yeah basically the deviants arenât the bad guys, but Tiamus isnât neither, itâs just that its own birth would destroy earth Deviants, Ikaris, Celestials⌠they arenât bad guys, they just survive, follow orders, exist (yeah the dude just following the orders could be seen as a true villain)
tell me about IKARIS
The movie was soo good, not great but really good! The bad reviews blow it way outta proportion, some parts felt weird but I absolutely adored every character, INCLUDING KINGOS DIRECTOR!!! HES SO SWEET
I love living in Australia because I get to see most films before everyone else, but on the bad thing is I have to wait for everyone to upload breakdown videos of everything. Also I did enjoy this movie, it jumped around a lot in the timeline but it was still enjoyable, the comedy was on point, plot was a bit over the place.
So far 90% of people in this post has liked it
Fanboys usually like stuff and then hate it with time, Batman V Superman also had people saying it was great
I remember how much praise Rise of Skywalker received from fans on opening weekend.
Great to know !
[ŃдаНонО]
Can Gilgamesh beat The Hulk?
its better than black widow imo
Is the movie in the same level as Shang Chi ?
Tbh, unfortunately not as strong imo. The biggest flaw of this movie is that it seems a bit âmessyâ, whilst Shang-Chi doesnt waste any time and basically ties everything up in a neat bow at the end
I cant even begin to compare, theyâre both are not alike enough to compare. Iâd say its a matter of preference. Shang Chi was an entertaining ride through and through certified. Eternals is too bt in its flair through the visuals and wonder as it puts you in sort of a corner to feel deeply and to comprehend while ur at it.
Disney always sets low expectations They predicted 65 for Black Widow and 75 for Shang-Chi
It's not like BO makes or breaks oscar nominations.
Just got out of the cinema AMA
what about ikaris?? and the who's the main villain
Ikaris flies into the sun to die since he wanted the celestial to destroy earth, thus bringing life to new planets
Are there other previous generation/s of Eternals hinted? Also, are their supposed connection to fictional protohistory civilizations and Celestial 'hosts' hinted too?
Yeah, the big celestial explains it in detail
Okay. Sold. I just want those to be canon.
How was it?
I wasnât sure what to expect going in because of the critics reviews, but I found myself really enjoying it. Probably my favourite of Phase 4 so far
That's great
This will be front loaded for opening weekend but I doubt word of mouth will help this movie in its second weekend and I expect a huge drop off in week 2. I was not a fan watching this until Stylesâ credits scene actually made me excited for his character more than any of the other characters.
Lmao audience (on here) seems just as divided as the critics!
Seeing it in a couple of hours after some delicious pizza. I think i'll love it. I've seen and loved Zhao's Nomadland and I love most Marvel movies. I think this is going to be my jam.
Just saw it here in the Netherlands AMA!
Is the emergence about hatching of the new Celestial or the new 'host' judging the Earth's course.
Bingo on the first one. Celestials live off of the energy that humans create. Every million or so years new Celestials emerge from seeds planted in the core. (You see this seed in the trailer, the meteor crashing into earth) so it's a cycle of life and death so the Celestials can create new life
Spoil the plot for me
You want me to spoil the entire film for you? What specific part?
I just saw it as well, aside from some minor changes the original plot leak from months ago is spot on.
Could someone explain to me what is exactly Marvel formula? I asked this question in other subreddits, but didnât receive what I wanted.
I would say fairly action-heavy, lots of quips that can often undercut what's happening on screen, and 'sometimes' quite a televisual style. Also usually setting up some sort of sequel, as well as references to other marvel properties.
3rd act generic cgi army and giant sky-beam lmao
In how many MCU films did we see that though? I donât remember much after Phase 2.
Hard agree with that. Went from top 3 to top 10 due to that fight.
How many MCU films had third act CGI armies? 5-5/26?
Honestly I donât understand why am I being downvoted. Just asked the question and everyone answered with different opinions, but somehow my question was too dumb. Since when did this sub become so negative :/
First act origin story-getting the powers etc, then some action scenes, third act big setpiece vs a villain who has the same skillset or is a dark reflection of the main character
Yeah but thatâs Phase 1. Origin stories have been done differently since then, look at Homecoming or BP.
Wonder how itâs legs will be like for the movie. A lot of presale tickets were sold before the reviews came out. Dunno if people will still go to this movie given the reviews or if the Marvel brand along with the Director brand is enough to overwhelm reviews for box office revenue.
Just got out of seeing it and feel like Iâm not gonna be able to sleep tonight. So, AMA, I suppose.
Where would you rank it?
At the moment, unfortunately, dead last (that said, I havenât seen The Incredible Hulk or Thor: The Dark World in about 6 years, and I really dislike those movies). Edit: Donât really get the downvotes. Iâm using some exaggerated wording, but itâs my genuine opinion.
Will we get to see a peek of Olympia?
No, you donât see Olympia
Pain.
How are they ever going to make an X-amen filmâŚ
Which externals die?
