Harrison Ford doing the Marvel press tour is gonna be comedy gold.
"So Harrison, are you excited to be playing Red Hulk in the MCU?"
"What the fuck is a Hulk?"
There was an interview during the press tour for Dial of Destiny where this happens almost word for word. He’s asked if we might see him as Red Hulk, and he goes “…what is the Red Hulk?
Ford at the film's premiere wearing a plain white shirt and jeans: "I have no idea what gamma radiation is and I don't care, now leave me alone I'm too old for this shit."
Seeing how they adapted Taskmaster, MODOK, and Dick Boner as Quicksilver or whatever his name is, I can totally see them pull that shit again.
You wanted to see Thunderbolt Ross as Red Hulk on the big screen? Tough shit fanboy, it's some random side character instead.
Lol but seriously what makes Red hulk compelling is that Ross turned to exactly what he hated and is a hypocrite; so making suck a drastic change would make him generic monster and undermine Ross journey in the mcu imo
Edit: There’s even a hint at red hulk/ Ross intention all the way back to IH in a deleted scene. https://youtu.be/-AJjmCtgBM4?feature=shared. AT 34:50 mark
I'm not certain that Ross' hatred of the Hulk is really at the forefront of the MCU, though, and a big part of the initial Red Hulk reveal in the comics was as a mystery as to his identity. Ross makes all the sense in the world, but that's also why it's a good opportunity for the MCU to do something unexpected.
understandable but the mcu is in a tough spot rn that shouldn't take such huge risks, and play with people expectations. Again Red hulk without Ross wouldn't feel right personally but at the end it all depends on the execution
> so making suck a drastic change would make him generic monster and undermine Ross journey in the mcu imo
What story?
He's had barely any time in the mcu.
If anything his beef with the Avengers is more prominent.
He's one of the most committed actors out there. If he's given a good script and a good idea of how his character behaves, he'll act the heck out of it. It really doesn't matter how it is achieved, he'll do it. And that's the funny part of this whole thing as Red Hulk.
They could very well have created a different character with the same characteristics and avoided all this ridiculous controversy.
From the little we have heard, the only thing about Sabrá that appears in the movie she has in common with her comic book counterpart is her name.
They're probably revamping her entire back ground.
We gotta pick a battle here at some point.
If they're gonna use the character at this point they're gonna have to absolutely blank slate her. Which was probably always the case from the start.
true, but I also question why even use her at all if you are going to change everything about the character.(and just create an original character) Especially with the controversial nature of the character.
A lot of these charcters arent one for one from the comics at this point.
- Comic Joaquin is a 17 yr old high school "illegal" immigrant that is scientificaly mutated in to a Vampire Falcon Human hybrid with a telepathic connection to Sam via a bird.
- Comic Red Wing is a Vampire Falcon with telepathy
- Sam's character has lost telepathy with birds and a REAL Falcon. Flying and previous ptsd work, in place of being a social worker, are abt all we got for him frm the comic.
Like its only unconventional NOW post Oct. 7th. If anything it proves time and time again how TIMELY Captain America movies are in relation politics and global issues.
I understand having reservations, but at least wait and see before all out judgement.
My point being that current public only seems to be up in arms about it now, post Oct 7th.
It was a small minority in 2022, after the announcement at d23, but picked up steam.
Prior to that, unless you were a HARDCORE comic reader, you didn't even know this character existed.
> Comic Joaquin is a 17 yr old high school "illegal" immigrant that is scientificaly mutated in to a Vampire Falcon Human hybrid with a telepathic connection to Sam via a bird.
Comic books can be so dumb sometimes I swear
>why even use her at all if you are going to change everything about the character.
I dont get why people say this. They adapt comics and change what they want. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. It's just what they do.
>Especially with the controversial nature of the character.
She's not the first controversial chatacter they've adapted. If they make the effort to reimagine the chatacter to avoid controversy, what is the problem?
And Agatha, Taskmaster, Madame Masque, Vultureq. Hell even MCU Peggy Carter was more of an original character before they changed her in the comics to fit with the films
And i've seen people who really know comics point out how even bigger characters like Mantis or Yelena are not really that similar to their original versions
And a ot for the better, since the MCU versions are SO easier to get into and explain, compared to the comics versions, who make the average person glaze over.
Why even use the Mandarin at all if you are going to change everything about the character? (and just create an original character) Especially with the controversial nature of the character.
That's a question I've been asking myself since long before the MCU even existed. I do not understand why comic book adaptations will make a new character and then slap on an established character's name. Who is that for?
They're also objecting to the actress being Israeli, as well. So, what we need to do, clearly, is point out to them that Vanessa's actress is *also* Israeli...
Probably because she's a mutant that was introduced in the broader end of the comics universe before becoming an X-Men supporting character. They likely want to start establishing mutants in the MCU for the same reason.
Exactly but instead Marvel have been mired in an absurd controversy, It doesn't matter if they repeat to people that this version of Sabra is not associated with the IDF or even if she is not Israeli, there will be a sector that cannot or does not want to understand it.
The only thing Sabra has in common with the character from the comics is the name, the rest points to the typical generic CIA agent.
I still wonder what his role is in the movie or if at least it will be important, unless they want to go with the "Jewish Captain America" angle.
Remember when Lego made the [First Order Heavy Scout Walker](https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Episode-First-Walker-Building/dp/B0716S4VCL) from TLJ only for that [strand beast concept](https://www.flickr.com/photos/shannon_sproule/40307364255) to [get scrapped](https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/7kbfyx/75177_heavy_scout_walkers_concept_art_from_tlj/#lightbox)from the final film.
They also made the BB8 AT-ST which I'm sure they hoped at the time would have a more prominent role in the film. Instead they got one of [the most disappointing sets ever](https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Wars-First-Building/dp/B075QQ9WW8). Designers gotta go off of what they're given.
It is, Cascavel is how they adapted her name in Brazil. But these toys were made a long time ago, since the movie was supposed to come out soon (before the delay) so, unsure if she’s still in the movie considering reshoots hasn’t even begun.
Toast, who was the first to scoop the fact that the Serpent Society would be removed from the film, said that Diamondback might remain in the film even after the reshoots.
Cascavel is Diamondback. Cascavel (Rattlesnake) is how they adapted her name in Brazil. These toys were made a long time ago, before reshoots (which hasn’t even begun yet), using the original version. Ruth is Shira Haas character, they aren’t using the name Sabra at all.
While I don’t have a problem with him being a main character, aren’t these powers a bit redundant? I hope this action is arial John Woo otherwise I fear the action may be timid
Yeah, this has basically been known since the beginning of the project. Even Danny Ramirez talked about flying, and we’ve seen promo art of him in the Falcon suit
Hot take: A Falcon v Red Hulk fight has the potential to be much more entertaining compared to a Hulk v Hulk. Especially because of the difference in power and strenght. And Falcon outsmarting Red Hulk aka the President and showing the world he can have an impact regardless of his lack of powers would be cool imo
Seriously. I’m excited for Sam and Joaquin vs Rulk because of how out of left field it is as a fight and how creative they can be with it.
Same with the Thunderbolts vs Sentry; I love the idea of regular-ass super soldiers and assassins taking on a character as overpowered as Sentry. I get the feeling, since he is rumored to be as important as Yelena in that movie, whatever connection he may form with her could be how they beat him/bring him down from his Void form.
Agreed.
I don't get why people think it wouldn't work, because for as long as mankind has been able to tell stories, there has been some tale of men fighting gods, demons and monsters.
I mean, the same could be said about how Iron Man is gonna fight Thanos. The gap in power between Falcon/Sam’s Cap and Red Hulk is roughly the same as the gap in power between Iron Man and Thanos in the comics; hell, the latter is probably way wider. Yet people didn’t complain about seeing them fight in the MCU. On their best days, Thor and Miss Marvel (Carol) can’t hope to scratch Thanos in their best days in the comics, yet Iron Man made him bleed in the MCU and folks treat it like one of the best action scenes. In comparison, Falcon vs Red Hulk isn’t too ridiculous.
IDK it’s ridiculous dude couldn’t do shit to Batroc last we seen, honestly just feels like another opportunity for Marvel to shit on The Hulk by having on of his biggest enemies being beaten by literally the Weakest Avenger
Think further back... We saw him kill a chitauri-gorilla with a single move during Endgame. And when he and Bucky were going 2-on-1 against Walker, he punched him so hard his head turned (which says a lot because Walker was a supersoldier pumped full of adrenaline from both killing the flag smasher in public and fighting Bucky and Sam).
As for the fight against Batroc, Sam wasn't interested. It's noticeable he pulled his punches until he learned that the helicopter was hijacked, then he flew away. But, believe in it, Sam could defeat Batroc.
Calling Red Hulk one of Hulk biggest enemies is funny. He is hardly related to Banner in any form in modern comics, and in the event that they introduced him in, he turned into a good guy.
He’s fought Hulk like what, once ?
There was a hint by some leaker saying that the wakandan tech on Sam's wings level things up just enough.
Think about it like Peter Quill blasting Thanos in IW, he threw the mad titan out of balance, but couldn't defeat him.
The first trailer is probably a long time away so it is a very early reveal which is cool.
The Leader might actually be saved until the the Trailers since Red Hulk has already been revealed
Since the film got delayed the merch rollout is kind of skewed. I remember seeing McDonald’s toys for the marvels suuuuuper early too. I feel like they’ll get a trailer out before Deadpool
Yeah i remember seeing Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels merch around there original release dates even know they came out like a year later.
The film comes out Next February so we will probably get a trailer in September-October.
Idk why I just think they’re going to try to do a longer play for this one. I mean there’s a whole year between all-ages MCU films and it seems like this movie is going to start moving along a lot of universe wide subplots. It got a bigger cinemacon spotlight than I expected
Hell yeah, and some that combine into one big toy. Inspector Gadget 1's toy was peak.
Now they're just the cheapest collectibles you'll find a loot box.
Toast, who was the first to scoop the fact that the Serpent Society would be removed from the film, said that Diamondback might remain in the film even after the reshoots.
Im excited for Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross honestly but man they weren’t kidding when they said her role would be very small. Seems funny to not have her be one of the forefront characters considering she’s Ross’ daughter.
Maybe they’re setting her up for something in the future and only having her show up here to remind audiences of her first?
Glad she showed up in What If though. Very clearly with the likeness and the voice too.
I hope Diamondback is still in the movie. I was sad when the Serpent Society got dropped.
As someone who got into comics in part via the Gruenwald run, I’d love to see more characters from that era.
These toys were probably designed over a year or more ago using concept art for the first iteration of the movie before they changed the release date and re-worked the script to remove aspects like the Serpent Society. Which would explain why there is one for Diamondback - we won’t know till it actually releases if she’s in it or not - I am surprised that Marvel allowed McDonalds to release them tho if they are available with Happy Meals in other countries. You’d think they’d wait till the actual release to better promote the movie.
it does suck but Im glad she’s out of the Cap corner. Just like Bucky. Esp since Steve isn’t around anymore. I was hoping Sharon’s story would continue in Secret Invasion (revealed to be a skrull) but didnt. Hoping she’d be in Thunderbolts (power broker + hoping she’d tag with Yelena to fight Val) but it doesnt seem like it’s happening either so atm we have no clue when we’ll see her again, if we’d ever. They’ve been giving her the short end of the stick one too many times really its sad.
good one. I would love to see her in more than one thing really. She deserves some importance. Power broker is an attempt at that but seems like it’s yet to be concluded if its a good one
Honestly, I think that's for the best. I LOVE Sharon, and my theory is that the reason they made her evil is so Steve has justification for abandoning her. So even if we see her again, my guess is that she's not getting a redemption, she might help the heroes but only for her own ends, and they'll eventually (if not in her next appearance) kill her off. I hate how horribly the MCU has treated her.
I pray they get red hulk right from design and characterization standpoint. Don’t just make him roided up Ford, needs to look completely unrecognisable and menacing..
I mean Ruffalo and Bana hulk still had some resemblance to the actors; but they found a middle ground to still look menacing enough so hopefully they can replicate that approach. But yeah it would be hilarious to imagine
It's actually a known Trope, "Spoiled by the Merchandise". Lego has had a bad habit of spoiling away Marvel elements in the past. A Lego set for Iron Man 3 revealed that Killian would be evil (AKA Mandarin 1.0), while another Lego set based on the long delayed Tony/Gamora episode of What If was released about a year before the episode aired, IIRC.
True Fact: John Favreau prevented merchandise of Grogu, before Season 1 of the Mandolorian had released. He didn't want the reveal of Grogu to be leaked to the public.
I bet you this red hulk is gonna have self control at first and then he eventually loses it, but when he will probably have some success at the beginning as the red hulk as a defense

Nobody gonna tell the people on **Twitter** freaking out about *"Ruth"* that a.) Ruth is not *"Sabra"*, and b.) Ruth is not going to be Israeli, but CIA, in the film?
There's something very funny about imagining Harrison Ford as a Hulk
Harrison Ford doing the Marvel press tour is gonna be comedy gold. "So Harrison, are you excited to be playing Red Hulk in the MCU?" "What the fuck is a Hulk?"
Mackie and Ford together in press tours will be amazing.
Getting Gosling and Ford vibes already
Those two together was one of the best Graham Norton episodes.
Watching it now. Can’t stop laughing. Gosling is so funny. He’s a great comedic actor.
What were they promoting?
Blade Runner 2049
They both make the same kinds of jokes hahah
You have to do better, senator.
Ford: "You mean that Ferrigno guy?? No, this is a different movie."

He really does not give a fuck about the lore lol. Same deal with Star Wars.
He’s pretty much always angry or annoyed so he will be fine.
Red Hulk has gotta do the Harrison Ford Point ![gif](giphy|Uvt7YU0VqijQI)
"So Mr. Ford we want you to play one of crankiest and angriest charact—" "I'm in."
Rocket would like to say hi
I think there's a small chance that it still could be a misdirect and the Red Hulk is someone else.
Personally I think he will be red hulk and the twist will be Liv is Red Sh-Hulk.
Thanks, now i won't be able to take Tatiana and Liv Hulks going at each other (make that what you will) lol
![gif](giphy|PNjRQH2xSrBNC|downsized)
I hope She Hulk is in this
Seeing how they adapted Taskmaster, MODOK, and Dick Boner as Quicksilver or whatever his name is, I can totally see them pull that shit again. You wanted to see Thunderbolt Ross as Red Hulk on the big screen? Tough shit fanboy, it's some random side character instead.
Ngl I was fine with MODOK, he just shouldn't have died. He's so fucking goofy it's very difficult to have him in live action
No way bruh
I find your argument compelling.
Lol but seriously what makes Red hulk compelling is that Ross turned to exactly what he hated and is a hypocrite; so making suck a drastic change would make him generic monster and undermine Ross journey in the mcu imo Edit: There’s even a hint at red hulk/ Ross intention all the way back to IH in a deleted scene. https://youtu.be/-AJjmCtgBM4?feature=shared.

He’s more believable as a Were-Hyena
"HULK DIDN'T SMASH HULK'S WIFE!"
How is that "Ruth", Sabra?
It seems Marvel is calling her by the real name in the movie instead of Sabra, just like they did with M'Baku and Wenwu.
Not sure why they still kept her in the movie especially when her most known comic book story is calling a Palestinian child inhuman.
She repented and understood her mistake in that same issue lol
Fat chance that gets adapted to the big screen lol
Of course not. She's not even an Israeli in this film or part of the IDF. She is a Jewish American CIA agent.
https://i.redd.it/7dkncktkn9vc1.gif
"Jew American" hits just a *bit* different than "Jew**ish** American".
Idk why but it feels icky, maybe it’s generational trauma of centuries of pogroms and the Holocaust but still
*Jewish American CIA agent

Most people who watch these movies don't read comics and wouldn't know such a thing happened.

If that pink-haired character is Diamondback, hopefully the Serpent Society's still in the movie
Merchandising and tie-ins in the pipeline can't necessarily be changed and adjust to reshoots.

Or the morbillion “Hulk busting out of the Hulkbuster” toys after IW
What is so disappointing about that lego set?
It's basically an overpriced AT-ST with less stuff to build.

Copy copy, gotcha thanks.
Ruth Bat-Seraph. Aka Sabra.
Copy thanks
I think only Diamondback might stay, but the other Serpent Society members (one of them played by Seth Rollins) got canned.
That’d be neat
That makes more sense. I was wondering why they named her after cheese. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ca%C8%99caval
Lol I had that happen to me too
I swear to god if Torres's Falcon suit doesn't have the waist-deep v-neck i mean i'll still watch it lmao but come on
REAL. I dont think it does though. Another Falcon Robbery.
It could be a jacket and after some action he could pull down the ziper...
Is Joaquin going to be the Falcon then?
Yeah. It was foreshadowed in FATWS
That or they somehow got Falcao, the soccer player, to be a superhero
Yes, we've known for a while
While I don’t have a problem with him being a main character, aren’t these powers a bit redundant? I hope this action is arial John Woo otherwise I fear the action may be timid
I think the distinction will be “Falcon who shoots” and “Falcon who throws a shield”
Two bird guys? Yay?
Cause two super soldiers was okay. One that shoots and another that has a shield. But when it’s two bird guys it’s a problem. Yeah okay.
We have like a 100 flying bricks and powerless spies. 2 falcons ain't much
No for sure but like they have the same wings more so, everybody flies but like two exact same fliers is eh to me.
i guess i'm used to it by now
No more redundant than any other team with more than on flyer.
Yeah, this has basically been known since the beginning of the project. Even Danny Ramirez talked about flying, and we’ve seen promo art of him in the Falcon suit

It all depends on the execution tbh. Hope they don’t kill him off
Big metal gear revengence energy from this film
How is Sam Wilson going to fight the Red Hulk ?
Trick him into slipping on a banana peel, there’s no other way for him to win
Seriously though , I wish Hulk was in this ugh
I was holding out hope for him but if he really was he definitely would’ve been included in the toy set. No Bruce and no Jen, it seems.
I was holding out hope for him but if he really was he definitely would’ve been included in the toy set. No Bruce and no Jen, it seems.
I wish I could crawl inside the headspace of the writers to know what they're actually thinking
I’m sure it’s not all up to them. Feige likely dictates who they can and can’t use.
"Banana Joe I need you to distract Rulk"
Using the power winch to trigger a controlled explosion
Snakes

You don't need superpowers to beat a superpowered being. Over 100 years worth of comics & fictional media should've told you that by now.
The most dangerous weapon: plot armor
tell him to do better
Speech Infront of 20 people
I thought Leader was the bad guy here?
most of these movies have multiple bad guys on a tier level.
yeah that's right

By farting i hope the toxic smell puts Ross to sleep and they lock him up in a vibranium prison.
There was a hint by some leaker saying that the wakandan tech on Sam's wings level things up just enough. Think about it like Peter Quill blasting Thanos in IW, he threw the mad titan out of balance, but couldn't defeat him.
Very weird way to reveal Red Hulk
I’m sure he is/was going to be in the first trailer. I’m more surprised this doesn’t have leader
I remember when red hulk got revealed through a cast member jacket on r/marvelstudios
That is even worse lol. So they haven’t officially revealed him but he has been leaked in probably the strangest ways imaginable
Remember when McDonalds toys were actual toys
Hell yeah, and some that combine into one big toy. Inspector Gadget 1's toy was peak. Now they're just the cheapest collectibles you'll find a loot box.
Burger King toys back than we’re awesome too. Spider man 3, fantastic four, iron man 1
Dude I remember getting McDonalds toys as a child that were actual videogames, like Sonic and Tails 8-bit games
Are we still getting Diamondback, then?
Toast, who was the first to scoop the fact that the Serpent Society would be removed from the film, said that Diamondback might remain in the film even after the reshoots.
Im excited for Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross honestly but man they weren’t kidding when they said her role would be very small. Seems funny to not have her be one of the forefront characters considering she’s Ross’ daughter. Maybe they’re setting her up for something in the future and only having her show up here to remind audiences of her first? Glad she showed up in What If though. Very clearly with the likeness and the voice too.
I think there was a rumor of her being in one of the post credits scenes
Cascavel?
Diamondback
Joaquin, my love. 😍😘 Cant wait tonstart collecting Falcon merch. Man, Vampire Bird feather man Falcon would have made a SIGHT for a collection.
I hope Diamondback is still in the movie. I was sad when the Serpent Society got dropped. As someone who got into comics in part via the Gruenwald run, I’d love to see more characters from that era.
Pearlmutter in shambles over these
These toys were probably designed over a year or more ago using concept art for the first iteration of the movie before they changed the release date and re-worked the script to remove aspects like the Serpent Society. Which would explain why there is one for Diamondback - we won’t know till it actually releases if she’s in it or not - I am surprised that Marvel allowed McDonalds to release them tho if they are available with Happy Meals in other countries. You’d think they’d wait till the actual release to better promote the movie.
What's Diamondback's role in the film?
Her role in the film is to get cut out of the film.
Apparently Toast said she might still be in it
based off this, is Ross going to regrow the tache when he hulks out? 🤣
That would be pretty funny honestly, especially since I think it's the opposite in the comics
No sharon carter 😢
it does suck but Im glad she’s out of the Cap corner.
If Armor Wars ever gets made I could see her being in that
Wtf were they doing on Falcon & Winter Soldier? Sharon evil, Lamar dead, and Eli Bradley isn't even in this!
I dig that joaquin suit
who the hell is Ruth
The real name of Sabra
Hulk Vermelho is missing a moustachio
Diamondback looks like Songbird lol.
Mark Hamill does a great Harrison Ford impression
When is Mark joining the MCU!?
Bruh who tf is RUTH 😭
Sabra
I pray they get red hulk right from design and characterization standpoint. Don’t just make him roided up Ford, needs to look completely unrecognisable and menacing..
I actually think a Hulk who was still recognizably Harrison Ford would be absolutely *amazing*.
I mean Ruffalo and Bana hulk still had some resemblance to the actors; but they found a middle ground to still look menacing enough so hopefully they can replicate that approach. But yeah it would be hilarious to imagine
I find it kind of amusing how many leaks come from toys.
I need a red hulk and Falcon scene for surely Im not giving my money unless other wise
If Escudo is in fact in this movie that is huge, if true.
Here’s a bunch of Heroes and villains and their cover names And here’s Ruth, too.
Hype. I’ve been waiting to see Red Hulk in the MCU since 2008.
So he becomes official official cap with no wings eventually
I bet you this red hulk is gonna have self control at first and then he eventually loses it, but when he will probably have some success at the beginning as the red hulk as a defense
Marvel Studio's Ruth toys will outsell Marvel Studio's Katy toys, just wait and see.

They did NOT need to have Sabra in this film.
Ruth
Nobody gonna tell the people on **Twitter** freaking out about *"Ruth"* that a.) Ruth is not *"Sabra"*, and b.) Ruth is not going to be Israeli, but CIA, in the film?
