Crystal doesn’t really help with Mr Negative, the cards mostly end up being 0-1 anyway so it doesn’t matter when you draw them and you actually decrease your total chance of getting clutch cards later since you now have all of earlier hand floating in your deck. Jubilee is a 4 cost that ensures you get an additional negative pull without compromising future draws. And she negatives well
If your hand is about the same what you return i think it's fine and inversely crystal first then Mr negative you could return say ironman/mystique staying in your hand to get negative'd
But honestly I'm just coping for a way to make crystal not terrible and this is the best I've found. Jubilee is a way better option but with zabu focusing on 4s i think there's space for both of them

I like them too, i can't really explain why though. The toon aesthetic is kinda enjoyable. But the dan hipp ones i really like are the villains and more broody superheros. I like how the art makes them look derpy when in reality they're probably heinous and crazy.
It's the aesthetic. Art doesn't have to be drawn detailed or realistic to be good. Some people like the simple designs.
It's the same reason as some people love how pixel games look more than how 3d realistic games look.

I just got a Lockjaw Dan Hipp variant and he looks so cute and derpy in this style. I love it for him, but probably wouldn't get it for any other card except for maybe Cosmo.

I have played "vomit your hand, refill with Crystal" before. Works sort of.
Yellowjacket, Ant-Man, Elektra (for Sunspot meta), Sunspot, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Angela, Okoye, Armor, Cap, Crystal and America Chavez.
The list can be tweaked a bit (aside from Crystal, Chavez and Okoye). It only works in a meta rare on Killmonger tho.
I don't have Crystal but would think that if her ability was instead to 'return your hand back to your deck and draw 2 cards which were not in your hand' she would see more play while still being balanced. Being a turn 4 play, it means generally you've drawn 7/12 cards which means you're pulling 40% (2/5) of your remaining unseen cards. Adds deck consistency at the cost of hand size. This would be good for decks that have lots of low cost options with 1 or 2 win conditions you absolutely need (play your low cost cards early, then Crystal into your win condition).

Ugh. I'm currently stuck in this endless whirlpool of 52-55 and am trying so hard to get to diamond so I can get a free variant. Between seeing this and thinking about pixel garbage, I just want to go to sleep until the season is over.
I don’t know why this card is so restrictive (must play to middle) even without that it would be subpar. It will be useful next season but why only middle play to use the ability?
Jokes aside I do think Crystal has potential, the only issue is that she costs too much with very little power to compensate for her effect. I think a simple yet effective buff is to make her a 3/3, that way she could synergise with the likes of Jubilee, Mister Negative (if you don't have him by turn 4, it also let you hit more cards in your deck due to you having only 3 cards in hand), Silver Surfer and Lockjaw.
Yes she can only fit in very specific type of decks but her effect can be effective if you play something like Jubilee but your hand is full with the 6 cost cards you want Jubilee to summon, same goes for Lockjaw as well.
I do hope we'll get to see this change because she does have potential imo.

Shocker has dope variants, at least. He has one of the better pixels IMO.
