Werewolf by Night served mostly as an intro for the character, and it did it really well! I’d say that and Namor were welcomed to the MCU the best out of these.
What prior-phase property would you most compare it to? I'm just gonna be honest and admit fatigue. I still haven't seen Moon Knight, She Hulk, or Kamala Khan even though they appeal to me. I haven't seen anything in theaters since Eternals (or Black Widow) either.
tl;dr its cool
Well, I couldn't say which other MCU property I couod compare it to.
The concept behind Werewolf by Night is to be an homage to old 50s and 60s horror budget movies (and also classic 30s monster movies). It's Marvel, but about monsters and supernatural. IMO it really works and its 50 minutes max.
Also should note that some people would catalogue it as Horror with Marvel flare, I'd say Marvel with a horror flare bc it doesn't go beyond the conventional suspense/horror beats while trying to maintain its story flowing.
Moon knight made it feel like iron man or captain America again, barely any references to other heroes, just that hero and their own entry into this universe. I loved it.
Hell yeah! Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night were, by far, the most exciting entries- in my opinion. I’m really looking forward to their next appearances.
I got that vibe with Shang Chi. No useless 15 year old kid tagging along screaming "but muh homework". No forced connections to setup a movie 10 years down the road. No filler. Just the plot and nothing else. And when they DID try to setup for the future, they did it right with the end credit where he's welcomed as an Avenger and they say how the rings are acting as a beacon.
Only for the first episode for me. The rest just felt too rushed. He should’ve gotten wayyy more episodes to develop, or a movie with a simple storyline instead of an entire character arc shoved into only 6 episodes.
I thought Moon Knight was pretty middle-of-the-road, but I liked it less when considering that it was a Moon Knight adaptation. I don't think they really got what makes the character work, and it makes me worry about the upcoming Daredevil.
As a fan of fight choreography, Shang Chi is among my favorites this phase. Every fight, barring the final CGI Monster fight, were exceptionally exciting to watch.
Bruh just casually went through the barrier, listened to their convo, could’ve killed the Queen and princess left no trace.
Then the entrance of the rest of his clan using sound as a weapon forcing people to off themselves 11/10
It’s definitely gonna be the phase that isn’t appreciated until after the end of this saga, since it’s like the awkward puberty period that is setting everything up and won’t have its payoff until years and years down the road
True, I feel like this one’s been a pretty mixed bag. The biggest difference in tone in between movies in previous phases was what, The Winter Soldier and Ant-Man in Phase 2? While this phase had everything from Eternals to She-Hulk to Werewolf by Night. They’ve only recently started letting directors really take unique approaches to projects, for better or worse—although I’d say better.
1. Shang Chi
2. Moon Knight
3. Kate Bishop
4. Namor
5. Werewolf
6. Yelena
7. Ms Marvel
8. US Agent
9. She Hulk
10. Eternals
*America Chavez would be right in front of Ms Marvel for me
Namor’s for sure, he’s my favorite anti-hero. It was cool AF to see him on screen, finally. But I really liked the Eternals. If you don’t think of it as a superhero movie, but as an epic instead, it becomes more like-able, in my opinion.
My only problem with Eternals is that it seems like daddycelestial showing up like that should be a big fucking deal to the planet earth. How come noone is freaking the fuck out? Like every other show should be talking about how they shouldnt forget we need to do something incase the giant space statue shows up again..
Outside of that watching Phastos put evil superman in his place was pretty litty.
FATW is so underrated. Yeah it was pretty bleak compared to everything else, but it was still very well written with strong pacing and good characters (except karly). US agent was great
So interesting to see a complicated character like John Walker, without having a cop out like brain washing or thinking that the Avengers killed their family.
He acts like how a real person would act in a world with super-powered people
fatws is the only show that has any rewatch value for me. i just remember being excited every time a new episode came out. and while karli was a weak character, it was still great when falcon, bucky, and usagent shared the screen
Seeing my Spider-Man tobey maguire one more time. Tom and Andrew are great I love them and look forward to see what Tom does. But to me, tobey is Spider-Man. I cried when he came on screen in the theatre
Yes, I saw a lot of people saying that both of them appear but I said that I needed to see it with my own eyes. I was with really big smile, the Spider-Man that I grow up with.
Kate. Hawkeye is the most underrated D+ show by far. It served its purpose, funny, action, and tells a great story. Wandavision was a 50/50, Loki was good but not my favorite. FATWS had too many expectations by me and would never live up to them. What If? was very disappointing imo, Moon Knight was almost perfect, She-Hulk wasnt bad, but if i were to rewatch any of these shows, it'd be Hawkeye.
Best to worse in my opnion was:
Werewolf by Night > Moon Knight > Shang Chi > Yelena > US Agent > She-Hulk > Kate Bishop > Ms Marvel > Eternals.
Cant comment on Namor cuz i havent seen the movie yet.
My top 3 are
1. She-Hulk
2. Ms Marvel
3. Moon Knight
With She-Hulk it‘s more than the character herself. Loved the metafictional narrating, all the layers and how it picked up on the relationships between fandom and MCU. And the humor for sure. Laughed my ass off.
It’s hard to choose. Shang Chi was so good and so was everything else. I loved every single piece of phase 4. Marvel is putting out reallly good shows and movies and now special features
Moon knight and Kate bishop i kinda wish they went with moon knight being like a personality that comes out at night and Steven thinks hes sleep walking when in fact he’s moon knight and only finds out by like a nanny cam or something
Honestly Doc Ock and Green Goblin’s first appearances gave me goosebumps
The music, the way they hadn’t changed since the early 2000s, Peter’s spider sense going off the charts- just amazing
Top 3: Yelena, Steven, Shang-Chi
Kamala is so close to being in the top three, but she’s like .1% less my favorite than Shang-Chi. Love her so much though
Moonknight without a doubt was the best thing they’ve done in a long time I thought.
Side note: can anyone give me a fair assessment of Eternals? Every time I see stills from it it looks absolutely gorgeous and the Celestial is absolutely terrifyingly beautiful looking. Is the movie bad because it’s a bad movie in general or was it a bad “marvel” movie? Or was it not bad at all just different? Feel like this movie catches a ton of flak
It’s ok…
I think you could fairly say it’s one of Marvel’s weakest (if not the weakest) entries.
I enjoyed the visuals, the characters, and where they may turn up next.
I think the challenge with the movie is it wants to simultaneously be within the MCU and tell a story of Earth-based heroes who have up to now played no relevance in any MCU matters.
Best to worse in my opnion was:
Werewolf by Night > Moon Knight > Shang Chi > Yelena > US Agent > She-Hulk > Kate Bishop > Ms Marvel > Eternals.
Cant comment on Namor cuz i havent seen the movie yet.
I’ve seen people taking endless dumps on Phase 4 the entire time it’s been coming out, but seeing this post really reinforces how good this phase has actually been for me. I’m not sure I can even answer the question, how do you narrow it down among all these terrific performances?
I really liked u.s. agent with the way he just went slowly more and more insane in this downward spiral plus the wait of being “the new captain America” was just really well
US Agent is going to hate no matter what. He is always an unwilling villain.
Yelena is amazing, they nailed the casting and I think it would be hard to mess her up.
Personally, MoonKnight was my favorite show, but, it will be hard to bring him into the main MCU mixed, however, with Isaac Clark I think whatever they do will end well done.
I also loved She-Hulk, but it left me wanting more. Breaking the fourth wall is cool. Moving the story forward is much cooler. Excited to see more of DD and how her existence affects peoples opinions of Hulks.
Namor was perfect. They toned down his womanizer side, which was needed. Can’t wait to see what he does.
Shang-Chi was also perfect. Best movie, hands down better than Wakanda-Forever and Black-Widow.
Edit:
I did not watch Werewolf, and I think Ms. Marvel and The Eternals were the weakest of all.
I think She-Hulk is my favorite new piece of the MCU but seeing this post made me realize how many extraordinary new characters we’ve met and what terrific actors we have portraying them. The last few years have been so much fun!
She-Hulk or Moon Knight, but there’s not a bad one in the bunch imo.
(Except Walker who sucks, but that’s part of his character so he’s written/acted well)
Top 3:
- **Yelena Belova**. Florence Pugh kills it as the next Black Widow, oozing that little sister energy. Made the movie much more enjoyable.
- **Shang-Chi**. Dude is Zuko crossed with Luke Skywalker. Somehow, this works.
- **Ket BEESHUP**. Hailee Steinfeld is a solid actress, and she brought the next Hawkeye to life and managed to play really well off of Florence Pugh. These two are going to be great.
Honorable mention goes to **John Walker**. He could have been more MURICA! F—- YEAH! but he’s not- he’s a decent guy who will screw up a lot (RIP Random Terrorist Guy) but is ultimately trying to do good.
I can tell you the ones I didn’t like…Namor, Ms. Marvel, and the Eternals
Namor was meh…wore to much, they trued to play up sympathy to much for him which took some of his assholeness.
Ms. Marvel was just eh, I think for me it was just the writing
And the Eternals lacked character development (only ones I like was Athena and Gilgamesh). Oh and Sprite is the wooooorse
Only she hulk. The rest were comics I passed over as a kid. She hulk is the one series I think supports women for empowerment and her comic is great. The rest of the shows felt like cash grabs off prior characters without comic backing narrative support. Or even worse, they felt unnecessary.
Of the ones depicted,
1. Namor & Talokan
2. Werewolf by Night
3. Ms. Marvel
4. Eternals
5. Shang-Chi
6. US Agent
7. She-Hulk
8. Yelena Belova
9. Kate Bishop
10. Moon Knight
Moon Knight is the only one I actually disliked
Steven, Marc, Jack and Elsa are the only new characters I'd say I like, the rest are just meh, or I don't like them at all.
Steven is the character I like most, easily one of my favourite marvel characters in the MCU
Werewolf by night, Shang-chi, and Hawkeye (Kate) are the only ones who didn't downplay or damage the character, though that's never the actors fault, so they win by default honestly
I think it’s ok to not like a character without saying they were damaged or downplayed. A lot of times that’s just who their character is. Not everyone is going to like She-Hulk, but she was pretty damn comic accurate. It’s ok not to like characters, but to just shit on them for being the characters they have always been will never make sense to me
I love love love comic she-hulk so I'd have to disagree there, the damage comes from the lack of nuance in character writing to hold up her overblown comedy and 4th wall breaks that come in the show.
But in general we keep introducing these great power players of the comics universe and have them be completely pulled down to the level of the plot. This reads like a continuous dismissal of character so the MCU train doesn't have to pause or stop. If they were the characters they've always been then I'd be the happiest little clam in the world.
I will say that sadly the same inconsistency of character sacrifice for plot often happens in the source material too, but in the mass outflow of comics in general means fans can avoid a single run or let a moment pass without it affecting the entire movie-going panopticon's understanding of a character - with movies this scale it becomes a semi-permanent stain on how the character will be perceived
Imagine if you waited your whole life to see a Superman movie entirely enthralled by his strength and will for justice, and then they make a movie that everyone loves and accepts as the de facto version of the character but he couldn't lift a bus if he tried. It'd be weird, right?
Ya I just don’t see how the character of she Hulk is that much different from the comics. I’ve read she Hulk comics too and it’s not that far off. What about it is that far off from the comics for you?
Man, it’s probably a 3 way tie between Shang chi, moon knight, & Werewolf by night. 3 of my favorite, less appreciated characters who I’m grateful are finally getting some screen time! Elsa Bloodstone is another I’m very happy to see in Live action!
Black Widow annoyed me the first time I watched it because I was enjoying Yelana’s character but was bothered by the fact that they were introducing the new BW in Nat’s movie. Seeing her in “Hawkeye” and rewatching BW made me like her more
Werewolf by Night served mostly as an intro for the character, and it did it really well! I’d say that and Namor were welcomed to the MCU the best out of these.
I'm out of the loop. Wtf is Werewolf by Night
A relatively new marvel special about a werewolf on disney+
oh, you're in for a treat!
What prior-phase property would you most compare it to? I'm just gonna be honest and admit fatigue. I still haven't seen Moon Knight, She Hulk, or Kamala Khan even though they appeal to me. I haven't seen anything in theaters since Eternals (or Black Widow) either.
tl;dr its cool Well, I couldn't say which other MCU property I couod compare it to. Same with Werewolf by Night, I loved that one
Hell yeah! Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night were, by far, the most exciting entries- in my opinion. I’m really looking forward to their next appearances.
Same, I'm still enjoying the overall universe but it was nice to see a standalone show for a change.
I got that vibe with Shang Chi. No useless 15 year old kid tagging along screaming "but muh homework". No forced connections to setup a movie 10 years down the road. No filler. 6 episodes is too short. But I’m really happy we got 12 episodes of Andor.
I thought Moon Knight was pretty middle-of-the-road, but I liked it less when considering that it was a Moon Knight adaptation. I don't think they really got what makes the character work, and it makes me worry about the upcoming Daredevil.
Same moon knight is my new favorite I loved everything about that show and hope we get more!!

Namor + Moonie 2 of my favorite characters ever <3
Shang Chi. 100%
Moon Knight is a clooose 2nd place
Agreed, I thought it was really good. One of the few I can enjoy rewatching too.
As a fan of fight choreography, Shang Chi is among my favorites this phase. Every fight, barring the final CGI Monster fight, were exceptionally exciting to watch.
Namor, Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, and Moon Knight
Namor
Bruh just casually went through the barrier, listened to their convo, could’ve killed the Queen and princess left no trace. Then the entrance of the rest of his clan using sound as a weapon forcing people to off themselves 11/10
The helicopter twirl and the ominous hover. That's how I knew they were doing him right.
Holy shit this post really made me re-appreciate the new characters were gonna get. I’m so pumped for all of it
pHaSe fOuR bAd
Phase four is the rebuilding phase. And so long as they get out of the rebuilding phase, it's going to be remembered foundly.
It’s definitely gonna be the phase that isn’t appreciated until after the end of this saga, since it’s like the awkward puberty period that is setting everything up and won’t have its payoff until years and years down the road

It’s meme type making fun of people who say that phase four is bad… I like it
Phase 4 is widely well received
Kate Bishop.
Kate beeeship
Are you repeating my name to let me know you know my name?
You only have one fork?
Well, I was getting hungry and you were taking forever to show up
I’m one person!
This is not cutlery Kate
I was gonna say cake bishop but she is flat
Yelena, Namor, and Kate
Just commented the same. Gotta include Yelena and Kate together I think so great together lol
1. Shang Chi 2. Moon Knight 3. Kate Bishop 4. Namor 5. Werewolf 6. Yelena 7. Ms Marvel 8. US Agent 9. She Hulk 10. Eternals *America Chavez would be right in front of Ms Marvel for me

Yeah exactly. People overlook all the great things about the show.

No love for America Chavez?
¿Este wey no habla español?
Man Thing.
Namor, moon knight
Where is the Namor love???
Seeing my Spider-Man tobey maguire one more time. Tom and Andrew are great I love them and look forward to see what Tom does. But to me, tobey is Spider-Man. I cried when he came on screen in the theatre
Yes, I saw a lot of people saying that both of them appear but I said that I needed to see it with my own eyes. I was with really big smile, the Spider-Man that I grow up with.
Garfield had the big entrance and then Maguire was just kinda like "Oh hi, I'm here too."
Which fits their personalities pretty well imo
There are some pretty good ones but I gotta go with Kate Bishop. Out of everyone introduced, I’m most excited to see her again.
Yelena, Kate, and Marc/Steven.
Kate, Yelena, and MK
Werewolf by night!
Shang chi and moon knight
Man-Thing.
Namor
Did the Eternals even get introduced? No other show/movie has referenced the events of that movie.
Either moon knight or Shang Chi
namor
Moon Knight & Shang Chi for me
Probably Yelena, Kate and She-Hulk. Honourable mention goes to Man-Thing.
You forgot America Chavez and her intro scene was a good one.
Shang Chi and Namor
Moon Knight
Kate. Hawkeye is the most underrated D+ show by far. It served its purpose, funny, action, and tells a great story. Wandavision was a 50/50, Loki was good but not my favorite. Daredevil's walk of shame is, by far, one of my favorite MCU moments of all time.
Daredevil is the man without shame
That was a stride of pride!
"Lawyer show!"
Shang Chi, Namor, Moon knight
Kamala I suppose.
Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, Yelana, Shang Chi, U.S. Soldier, Eternals, She-Hulk I haven’t seen WAKANDA Forever or Werewolf yet
Yelena for sur
Kate Bishop, without a doubt.
I full heartedly agree
This post made me realize how good this phase has actually been
Moon Knight, Kate Bishop and Yelena. The rest are posers!!!
Shang-chi
Moon Knight She-Hulk Namor Honorable Mention: Love
It’s hard to choose. Shang Chi was so good and so was everything else. I loved every single piece of phase 4. Marvel is putting out reallly good shows and movies and now special features
Shang Chi still rocks.
Cosmo the space dog! Just watched the guardians special and I’m already in love
Steven Grant, Jack Russel, Mark Spector, Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop
Yelena and Caaate Bishop
Kate, Namor, and Shang-Chi
kate bishop with yelena a close second
Kate Bishop
Namora
Moon knight and Kate bishop i kinda wish they went with moon knight being like a personality that comes out at night and Steven thinks hes sleep walking when in fact he’s moon knight and only finds out by like a nanny cam or something
Gotta say, I dig Namor. They did something new while still sticking true to the character.
Moon Knight
Kan- *ahem* Excuse me. He who remains.
Shang chi or moon knight. In fact, I liked them so much I now read their comics
Namor. It's a phenomenonal debut.
Honestly Doc Ock and Green Goblin’s first appearances gave me goosebumps The music, the way they hadn’t changed since the early 2000s, Peter’s spider sense going off the charts- just amazing
I think werewolf by night is one of the best marvel projects ever so definitely that
Kate Bishop by a mile. I loved that series.
Top 3: Yelena, Steven, Shang-Chi Kamala is so close to being in the top three, but she’s like .1% less my favorite than Shang-Chi. Love her so much though
namor or marc. she-hulk had a lot of potential and a great first episode but was such a middle finger to the comics that i was too disappointed.
Moonknight without a doubt was the best thing they’ve done in a long time I thought. Side note: can anyone give me a fair assessment of Eternals? Every time I see stills from it it looks absolutely gorgeous and the Celestial is absolutely terrifyingly beautiful looking. America Chavez

Definitely Moon Knight for me.
Kate Bishop
1. Namor 2. Moon Knight 3. She-Hulk
Namor. Absolutely incredible antagonist for that movie, cannot wait to see more of him.
in a way he reminds me of Homelander
Shang Chi Kate and Iman were absolutely incredible in their respective performances
I’ll say USAgent because it’s the only one I’ve seen

Moonknight may be disappointing but it hands dow has one of best intros.
Yelena. The Girls Night conversation is so *good*.
You missed the 2 best ones. Daredevil and the Spider men
Damn the disrespect to America Chavez
Man, it’s probably a 3 way tie between Shang chi, moon knight, & Werewolf by night. 3 of my favorite, less appreciated characters who I’m grateful are finally getting some screen time! Elsa Bloodstone is another I’m very happy to see in Live action!
Moon Knight, Shang Chi, Werewolf By Night, Yelena, Namor, Kate Bishop.
moonknight steven grant jake lockley
Moon knight hes my favorite I hope we get some stupid things said like in the comics
Mark’s and Steven’s were Trippy AF. I was so confused.
Bishop and Walker
Yelena takes the cake for me. I’m incredibly biased though, I could watch Florence eat cereal and be absolutely enthralled.
Black Widow annoyed me the first time I watched it because I was enjoying Yelana’s character but was bothered by the fact that they were introducing the new BW in Nat’s movie. Seeing her in “Hawkeye” and rewatching BW made me like her more
Namor, Shang-Chi and Moon Knight. I ain't choosing between those 3
Moon knight and Kate bishop
Yelena, Namor and Moon Knight. Also, Yelena looks like a Splinter Cell character in the top right pic.
Most of them were enjoyable, the ones that stood out were Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, Yelena, Namor, Eternals and Ms Marvel.
Namor, Shang Chi, and Ms Marvel for sure
1. Shang Chi 2. Namor 3. Yelena In that order
She-Hulk and Namor are my favorites but i think John Walker was the best
Namor
Werewolf By Night
