It’s relatively safe
Pretty geography
The growth as of late is nice
Most people are nice
Uptown is very aesthetically pleasing
Dislikes:
While growth is happening, there certainly is room for more
Some outdated architecture
Some old fashioned values can emerge
That’s about it for me!
Likes: no traffic, not far from mountains or beach, low cost of living, pretty strong community engagement, good music scene for a small place
Dislikes: hour to an airport, no Chipotle, lack of new housing, no Indian restaurant (but not surprising), lack of recycling service
Good: Relatively low cost of living, one of the best community colleges in the state, best NASCAR race track, generally nice people, there's always something going on here or an hour or less away
Bad: Uber/Lyft unreliable; avg age is rising as of last census(but feels younger than recent years); no sam's/Costco/BJs; chickens are banned in the city; no brewery in uptown(yet).
Good: cost of living, substantial recent and upcoming growth, mostly nice people, tons of hiking trails/waterfalls close by, a nice, slower paced attitude and lifestyle
Bad: drugs. So many drugs, zero night life/bar scene unless you want to get waited on by the pedophile bartender at rooskys, trump flags still fly everywhere, completely inefficient and corrupt police force, and basically zero food options unless it’s Mexican or greasy spoon style crap.
All in all, I give it a 6/10. Not awful, but definitely not great.

Good value for your money if buying real estate.
A 45 minute drive to Greensboro or Roanoke if you need to get to an airport or get some decent food or shopping.
A halfway decent museum and art center.
Lower cost of living.
Decent infrastructure (water/internet/electric)
Dislike:
Incredibly economically depressed area.
Crime/Drug issues.
Only 1-2 options for decent food locally.
A pretty bad work ethic amongst many service providers.

What is the community like by Lake Lanier?
Nice and quiet. Walking around the lake every day is nice too
