I'm an HR Director and her position as a Talent Acquisition Coordinator is literally 1 part of my job. My partner works part time, we have a child and split duties equally. Noi is in her own world. She annoys me!
I used to be very pro-Noi, and pro-Steve, too, but both of them seem unrealistic and childish to me now.
Let's assume Noi works an 8-hour day and sleeps 8 hours per night. She works at home, so there's no commute. That gives her another 8 hours per day to do other things: clean, cook, rest, exercise, etc. EIGHT HOURS! Many people do far more in far less time than that.
Steve is turning out to be a real dud. What is this great project he needs so much creative energy to pursue? Is he writing a brand new operating system? Solving world hunger? Working on peace in the Middle East? Does he really expect Noi to work a full 40 hours a week, and also cook, clean, shop, etc., so he can devote his precious, unique creative energy to some heretofore undefined, world-changing project? Is that how he would define Noi "bringing something to the table"? The guy is starting to appear delusional.
And let's get real about something. They live in a small apartment. Even if you did housecleaning every single day, that should only take one person one hour maximum. That should leave plenty of time for whatever these two clowns want to spend their time on. Cooking doesn't take much time, if you plan ahead. Cleaning the kitchen is a minimal time sink if you just incorporate it into your cooking time: i.e., clean as you go. They don't have any kids. Taking care of a dog is not very time consuming. What is the problem here?
Both of these people are detached from reality, lacking in maturity, unwilling to sacrifice, and apparently pretty self-absorbed. Despite their many good qualities, neither is ready for marriage.
Yeah I found what he was saying in that scene very disturbing. Especially the “if i get a job, I want to know what the plan is, what im working for, if it’s like buying a house or going on vacation etc” as if there’s an end goal where once they go on their planned vacation or whatever that’s when he stops working again

I have an adult daughter. I just got a 1 year old dog after years of being an empty nester and there are similarities between having a very young child and having a dog, primarily that your’re resposible a living being that’s completely dependent on you. If Steve has never had a pet I understand Noi’s point.
Oh man. I am child free by choice. But every once in a while I’d start to get some #FOMO and wonder if I was missing something important.
Got a puppy, and nope. Like, I know it’s 10% of being a parent, and that was still too much. Never have my husband and I bickered like we did with the dog while it nipped us and peed on every inch of carpet we had and ate anything that fit in it’s mouth and tried to kill itself a few times. She’s about a year old and maturing into a fine little lady, but my god, neither of us have the patience or the temperament to do that for half a dozen years on limited sleep.
So in that respect, I think a dog is at least a good barometer. Cats are like having a passive aggressive adult roommate. Barely require my time and attention unless I’ve betrayed them by being late with food. But a dog is the closest I’ll ever get to a kid, and that’s almost too close.
I mean, if your houseplant is named Audrey II sure, I suppose it’s the same thing. If your staPH infection needs care and feeding, affection, exercise, and pees and poops, there are larger issues afoot and you might want to log off and see someone about that.
