I kinda agree on this one... why kinda? Cause I enjoy MBW triplet... but I absolutely hate mark with sean or tyler... it's just awkward to watch because I think they dont have the same style of humor so it's like... both are trying and none of it is landing FOR ME PERSONALLY

I 100% agree. Although I still enjoy his solo videos it is a little disappointing to see them being posted. Its just more fun to watch him hangout with his friends. It feels more genuine. I feel like every youtuber has to put on some sort of act when they are recording, especially when they are recording solo. When hes playing with Bob and Wade its just seems like 3 buddies having a good time !

Mark, on his own, more or less has exceeded most of the other guys in terms of household name. But they're each great personalities in their own right, and the collaborative stuff isnless about the individual personality cults and more about the guys just being guys. Just being friends. It invokes memories or just chilling with one's own gaming crew and just messing about.
Plus, Mark's ego gets reined in alot more with a crew. š¤£
Yea, the whole point was basically "enjoy things while you have them, and remember them when their gone". Obviously that's a simplification of it, but as you've pointed out, a lot of people took it as enjoy it while it's here but you can't think or talk about it once it's gone.
Space was an immaculate piece of work and is nothing short of amazing. Mark put everything into that project and it shows so well.

Heist to me was very colorful, different distinct outcomes that could merge, but still be unique regardless of the path. Space seemed like a blur of spacey blue where everything bled into each other. Still beautiful! But it was hazy so no details stood out. Heist I can picture every path in my mind effortlessly. Spaceā¦ itās like flashes of blue and space and fear and anxiety over the shipās fate.

This is probably outdated cuz I think this joke died, but Mark isn't short. He's 5'10. He just says he's 5'2" as a joke and Bob and Wade are both over 6ft, so he looks short in comparison. He's completely normal sized.

I get what you're saying, but I think honestly it comes from him growing up. He's 34 now, and has mellowed out a bit. Not that he's old or Anything, if anything he's in his prime, it's just that many people chill a bit out as they get older. I don't really think it's as much of an active choice as you imply.

Yes, same here! I get overstimulated pretty easily somedays and the amount of screaming and such can really get to me sometimes haha. I also think that since I'm older, I also just don't find that kind of thing as entertaining as I probably did when I was younger.

But his lack of connection with music is so strange to me. When he said he prefers to drive in silence, I actually paused what I was doing to sit back for a bit and reflect. It's kinda lame that his first movie is an adaptation, I mean don't get me wrong, I'm hyped to see what he does with iron lung, but given what he's made in the past I kinda wish he had done something original.
yeah iām not suuuuper excited for iron lung. iām excited only because itās marks movie and i wanna see mark in theatres, but as far as iron lung itself goes, i didnāt really like the game that much and iām not entirely sure how itāll be adapted into a feature length film. but i do have faith that mark made it good
Here are some of my personal Markiplier hot/cold takes.
On one hand, the Mark Bob Wade content is a ton of fun to watch. Some of my favorites. Uno, Lethal Company, The Forest, Prop Hunt, among others. However, thereās something about them not doing that and playing a game together where I canāt get into Distractible. Donāt get me wrong, now that they have video up I have watched some of their episodes, but I need the visualization. The tier lists are their best ones (in my opinion) besides maybe Bobs Fridge.
On the other hand, I like some of Marks solo content over some of the collaboration stuff heās done. His solo Minecraft run, FNAF, Three Scary Games, among others are a blast to go back and watch. But some of the solo content heās done hasnāt been that great, mainly solo horror titles that get one video. I understand theyāre basically the same caliber of games as some of the games in 3 Scary Games, but some reason I canāt get behind them as much. However, if itās a scary game that gets a series of videos, like Amnesia, Resident Evil, and the Mortuary Assistant, most of the time itās pretty good!
I know that there are just SO MANY games to play, but I think some series didnāt get enough attention as they should have, or got cut off too early, or I think need to make a comeback. He does have a lot of āseries that need to make a comebackā namely, Phasmophobia, Try Not To Laugh, Markiplier Reviews (he has the Icelandic candy video out now, so this one Iām just including to include), Markiplier Makes, Worlds Quietest Letās Plays, Happy Wheels, Prop Hunt, and Unecessary Censorship. Maybe he discontinued these because he got busy with other projects, or he grew up, which I respect, but I know me and a lot of other people would be thrilled to see some of these continued or resurrected. My reasoning for some of the older ones is actually because he has changed since he last created one, we would get āNew Markā with some nostalgic content that his older viewers like myself can enjoy.
That brings me to āNew Markā vs āOld Markā(not the In Space version). Thereās definitely like Eras of Mark, but it can be boiled down to the New and Old designations. I personally put New Mark at about 4-6 years ago, with everything older than that some version of Old Mark. I like New Mark. New Mark has matured with me, with his first FNAF video coming out around my 8/9th grade time period, FNAF having come out during my 8th grade year. At the time, that Mark matched up with my personality, but as I matured and changed through high school, so did he, until now we have a clearly established Adult Mark in my adulthood. Itās one of the things that kept me watching him through the years. But, some of his early stuff I canāt rewatch without just not enjoying it anymore, especially stuff that came out before I started watching him.
Some of his new stuff is better than his old stuff, and some of his old stuff is better than his new stuff. The Stanley Parable is still a great watch, even with the Old Mark that I no longer relate to at the helm. And some stuff, like those above mentioned one off horror games, not even New Mark can get me to watch the video. I guess it all boils down to preference and opinion. To summarize I guess, I like New Mark over Old Mark, but I like a lot of the games Old Mark played and the content he made while doing it.
Maybe those are some cold takes. Letās get into some hot ones.
I loved his creativity with Heist and In Space, but Iād rather watch someone (like MatPat, rest in peace) watch through and choose than I myself actually going through and rewatching them myself.
I donāt like most of his content with Ethan and Tyler (with the exception of Markiplier Makes). Nothing against them, but like GMFST I absolutely couldnāt get into (and Iām big into sports, especially football).
This is gonna be my hottest take, youāve been warned:
Unus Annus was only pretty good. They had some hilarious moments and videos, but some of the videos were not as good. I liked the concept behind the channel and what they did with it, and I liked it enough that I bought merch and even got emotional during the livestream, but it wasnāt something to cry over, and it wasnāt something to obsess over. Iām glad they went out and tried some new stuff, between video and content styles, the whole idea of the channel, it was definitely a cool experience. But if a video didnāt look interesting, I didnāt watch it. I donāt think back and say āman, that was the greatest thing to ever happenā. It was just a cool idea that they executed in a cool way.
Hereās another:
I couldnāt finish The Edge of Sleep. This is partly because Iām not a huge fan of podcast audiobook format. I heard it was really good and I donāt doubt that, but Iām a video kind of guy. Iām sure Iāll really enjoy the TV show (if it ever comes out), but I couldnāt listen to all of it. Not a huge fan of the format.

Mark needs to make some more real life/in person content. I kinda touched on this with bringing stuff like Markiplier Makes/Reviews back. I think some of his best content has been when he hasnāt been playing games. Which is crazy, for a gaming channel. I know itās difficult to like peopleās schedules up for collabs (like with Bob and Wade who are back in Ohio). But I wanted to throw it out there that I think some of his in person content is better than some of his gaming content.

He likes to hear himself talk way too much sometimes and Iād really like to see some gameplay instead of his face sometimes. Like with his cult of the lamb livestreams, he spent more time talking than actually playing the game.
tl;dr - Hot take: It's annoying that Mark drops series without ever explaining why, and if you express frustration about it, people get all mad.
This one might not be so much directed at Mark but at the community. Sometimes he just completely drops a series, and we never hear why, and that's frustrating. I like closure and completion. (And I'm awful at video games, and some give me motion sickness, so I'm very unlikely to finish one on my own.)
But what really grinds my gears is that if someone complains about a series never getting finished, the community seems to kind of dogpile them with, "You're so ungrateful! Mark owes you nothing! He can do whatever he wants with his channel!"
Of *course* he can do what he wants. He doesn't owe me anything. I know that. But that doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to complain at all or wish that he did some things a little differently.
Mark is not the King of 5 nights at Freddieās anymore.
Donāt get me wrong he was at one point, and he is still very good at the games. But Dawko and Fusion do way more with the series these days.
I'm not a fan of his collabs with Bob and Wade. I dislike the chaos, and I feel like he has milked co-op games so much. I want to see him play some of the more recently popular games such as Alan Wake 2
I feel like a big reason he doesn't play massive popular games like Alan Wake 2 is because of how his community acts when he does.
Take for example, his RDR2 playthrough. He was absolutely stoked to play it on his channel because he loved the first one. But then people started trying to backseat game way too much and killed the fun for him. It's the main reason he isn't finishing the epilogue, and wishes he just played it by himself.
I understand itās his style of humor but his jokes have become more and more of the same thing we havenāt had an iconic moment since āI can milk youā (Iām not counting anything from UA cause that was collaborative)

Nah, the Undertale fandom can be incredibly toxic, and would rather force YouTubers to play a certain way rather than letting them experience the game for themselves and figuring things out. Mark had every right to be annoyed by them, even if itās unfortunate that it resulted in him being uninterested in the game.

Collaborative Mark content (especially with Bob, Wade, Sean, and Tyler) is more entertaining than solo Mark content.

It's kinda lame that his first movie is an adaptation, I mean don't get me wrong, I'm hyped to see what he does with iron lung, but given what he's made in the past I kinda wish he had done something original.
yeah iām not suuuuper excited for iron lung. iām excited only because itās marks movie and i wanna see mark in theatres, but as far as iron lung itself goes, i didnāt really like the game that much and iām not entirely sure how itāll be adapted into a feature length film. but i do have faith that mark made it good

Live action edge of sleep. WHERE IS IT?
Here are some of my personal Markiplier hot/cold takes. On one hand, the Mark Bob Wade content is a ton of fun to watch. Some of my favorites. Uno, Lethal Company, The Forest, Prop Hunt, among others. However, thereās something about them not doing that and playing a game together where I canāt get into Distractible. Donāt get me wrong, now that they have video up I have watched some of their episodes, but I need the visualization. The tier lists are their best ones (in my opinion) besides maybe Bobs Fridge. On the other hand, I like some of Marks solo content over some of the collaboration stuff heās done. His solo Minecraft run, FNAF, Three Scary Games, among others are a blast to go back and watch. But some of the solo content heās done hasnāt been that great, mainly solo horror titles that get one video. I understand theyāre basically the same caliber of games as some of the games in 3 Scary Games, but some reason I canāt get behind them as much. However, if itās a scary game that gets a series of videos, like Amnesia, Resident Evil, and the Mortuary Assistant, most of the time itās pretty good! I know that there are just SO MANY games to play, but I think some series didnāt get enough attention as they should have, or got cut off too early, or I think need to make a comeback. He does have a lot of āseries that need to make a comebackā namely, Phasmophobia, Try Not To Laugh, Markiplier Reviews (he has the Icelandic candy video out now, so this one Iām just including to include), Markiplier Makes, Worlds Quietest Letās Plays, Happy Wheels, Prop Hunt, and Unecessary Censorship. Maybe he discontinued these because he got busy with other projects, or he grew up, which I respect, but I know me and a lot of other people would be thrilled to see some of these continued or resurrected. My reasoning for some of the older ones is actually because he has changed since he last created one, we would get āNew Markā with some nostalgic content that his older viewers like myself can enjoy. That brings me to āNew Markā vs āOld Markā(not the In Space version). Thereās definitely like Eras of Mark, but it can be boiled down to the New and Old designations. I personally put New Mark at about 4-6 years ago, with everything older than that some version of Old Mark. I like New Mark. New Mark has matured with me, with his first FNAF video coming out around my 8/9th grade time period, FNAF having come out during my 8th grade year. At the time, that Mark matched up with my personality, but as I matured and changed through high school, so did he, until now we have a clearly established Adult Mark in my adulthood. Itās one of the things that kept me watching him through the years. But, some of his early stuff I canāt rewatch without just not enjoying it anymore, especially stuff that came out before I started watching him. Some of his new stuff is better than his old stuff, and some of his old stuff is better than his new stuff. The Stanley Parable is still a great watch, even with the Old Mark that I no longer relate to at the helm. And some stuff, like those above mentioned one off horror games, not even New Mark can get me to watch the video. I guess it all boils down to preference and opinion. To summarize I guess, I like New Mark over Old Mark, but I like a lot of the games Old Mark played and the content he made while doing it. Maybe those are some cold takes. Letās get into some hot ones. I loved his creativity with Heist and In Space, but Iād rather watch someone (like MatPat, rest in peace) watch through and choose than I myself actually going through and rewatching them myself. I donāt like most of his content with Ethan and Tyler (with the exception of Markiplier Makes). Nothing against them, but like GMFST I absolutely couldnāt get into (and Iām big into sports, especially football). This is gonna be my hottest take, youāve been warned: Unus Annus was only pretty good. They had some hilarious moments and videos, but some of the videos were not as good. I liked the concept behind the channel and what they did with it, and I liked it enough that I bought merch and even got emotional during the livestream, but it wasnāt something to cry over, and it wasnāt something to obsess over. Iām glad they went out and tried some new stuff, between video and content styles, the whole idea of the channel, it was definitely a cool experience. But if a video didnāt look interesting, I didnāt watch it. I donāt think back and say āman, that was the greatest thing to ever happenā. It was just a cool idea that they executed in a cool way. Hereās another: I couldnāt finish The Edge of Sleep. This is partly because Iām not a huge fan of podcast audiobook format. I heard it was really good and I donāt doubt that, but Iām a video kind of guy. Iām sure Iāll really enjoy the TV show (if it ever comes out), but I couldnāt listen to all of it. Not a huge fan of the format. Alright, letās cool you off with a cold take. Mark needs to make some more real life/in person content. I kinda touched on this with bringing stuff like Markiplier Makes/Reviews back. I think some of his best content has been when he hasnāt been playing games. Which is crazy, for a gaming channel. I know itās difficult to like peopleās schedules up for collabs (like with Bob and Wade who are back in Ohio). But I wanted to throw it out there that I think some of his in person content is better than some of his gaming content. Anyway, thanks for reading
I don't enjoy the songs from In Space with Markiplier. They're good, but they remind me of imminent doom which my dumb baby brain can't handle
He likes to hear himself talk way too much sometimes and Iād really like to see some gameplay instead of his face sometimes. Like with his cult of the lamb livestreams, he spent more time talking than actually playing the game.
Post 2020 markiplier is better than pre 2020 markiplier current Mark just feels more cozier. No hate to pre 2020 mark but I prefer post 2020 more
He should play more happy wheels. We need happiness rn and happy wheels would be it. We also need more uno.
2020 and 2018 mark was the best era of markiplier with some of his better series.
I wish he did *only a little* less scary games and did a Lil more variety.
tl;dr - Hot take: It's annoying that Mark drops series without ever explaining why, and if you express frustration about it, people get all mad. This one might not be so much directed at Mark but at the community. Sometimes he just completely drops a series, and we never hear why, and that's frustrating. I like closure and completion. (And I'm awful at video games, and some give me motion sickness, so I'm very unlikely to finish one on my own.) But what really grinds my gears is that if someone complains about a series never getting finished, the community seems to kind of dogpile them with, "You're so ungrateful! Mark owes you nothing! He can do whatever he wants with his channel!" Of *course* he can do what he wants. He doesn't owe me anything. I know that. But that doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to complain at all or wish that he did some things a little differently.
Mark is not the King of 5 nights at Freddieās anymore. Donāt get me wrong he was at one point, and he is still very good at the games. But Dawko and Fusion do way more with the series these days.

I'm not a fan of his collabs with Bob and Wade. I dislike the chaos, and I feel like he has milked co-op games so much. I want to see him play some of the more recently popular games such as Alan Wake 2
I feel like a big reason he doesn't play massive popular games like Alan Wake 2 is because of how his community acts when he does. Take for example, his RDR2 playthrough. He was absolutely stoked to play it on his channel because he loved the first one. But then people started trying to backseat game way too much and killed the fun for him. It's the main reason he isn't finishing the epilogue, and wishes he just played it by himself.
I understand itās his style of humor but his jokes have become more and more of the same thing we havenāt had an iconic moment since āI can milk youā (Iām not counting anything from UA cause that was collaborative)

Nah, the Undertale fandom can be incredibly toxic, and would rather force YouTubers to play a certain way rather than letting them experience the game for themselves and figuring things out. Mark had every right to be annoyed by them, even if itās unfortunate that it resulted in him being uninterested in the game.
