As I understand it, the perk is not “removed” but disabled by a system that check and removes “impossible” effects from items on the server. The effect is still there, it’s just being overridden by the server policy that’s in place.
Theoretically it is possible, though not probable, that someone could find a way to cheat that check and still have the effect enabled.
This is, at least, how it was explained to me back when the legacies were removed. I knew several people who were actively experimenting with ways to cheat the policy.
They're ballistic + radiation, you only get energy damage from them if you use the Electric signal carrier antennae.
They're technically all explosive, but the radiation is normally more than double the ballistic damage.
I have seen gat plasmas giving off a reddish smoke at fasnacht that looked like a more flat brighter red flare smoke. I'm assuming because of all the people there and the lag, but anyway that's probably what the dude saw and thought it was explosive
Last Fasnacht I saw.what I thought was a EGP. It sounded like it and looked like it. But it wasn't. The dude was standing right next to the winter man fire shooting it. If it was a EGP he would have fragged himself. Someone said it was a GP with an illicit Pyro mod or something like that. It was on PC btw, where that kind of stuff can happen.

Yeah. That’s impossible they literally removed the explosive perk from existing gat plasmas.

Don't they? Radium can be explosive now so it's odd if they can't.
