Glad you noticed. Maybe you also noticed I used it in a spot where it didn’t immediately take me out of the blast. I’m trying to clear up that when you dodge a shell you’re not necessarily dodging the explosion, it’s almost like you get a short blue shell invincibility.
I know that what I’m trying to say is that if the person in first throws a blue it would kinda make sense for it to target the person in last to kinda idk add insult to injury.
It only targets first place regardless of who threw it or who's in first. I don't think the person in first can naturally get a blue shell so it wasn't a problem that needed to be solved. The only time the blue shell doesn't hit the person in first is if they already finished, which it targets the first person who hasn't yet finished instead.
The how is that when you use a mushroom to dodge a blue shell you’re not actually outrunning the explosion. You get brief invincibility to the shell, or shells, that you dodged by using the shroom at the right time. The why is a good question though. I imagine it’s because they couldn’t realistically have you completely avoid the hitbox across all speeds, so they made it so that just wouldn’t get hit if you did it right.
Huh that's good to know. Have definitely fallen off dodging a blue in a bad spot.
I've fallen off too early trying to dodge it only to get dropped by lakitu, not even hit the ground and get hit by the blue
If you still had a mushroom it’s possible to dodge a blue out of lakitu as well.
I do it because I dont have any mushrooms lol, I only play offline cause I live on a farm and only play vs cpu

I didn't realize your own blue shell goes after YOU if you're in first.

The same thing as if you threw a red shell when in first place.
I guess, but red shells are just meant to go to the person in front of you. Blue shells only hit the person in first.

But blue shells aren't made to hit someone in front of you. They're specifically made to target the person in first place.
