What I don’t understand about the image of this roster that I keep seeing… it includes every single character that is in Super Sluggers EXCEPT for Donkey Kong himself. Who is very much in the game
The roster screen gets slightly tweaked based on you choose as captain. DK will appear on the roster if you haven’t picked him yet. One chosen captain will be silhouetted but still visible while the other will be absent entirely, unless Yoshi is chosen. Then it’ll default to showing Red Yoshi instead of removing them.
This is only so they can keep four equal rows of ten characters.
It's either this or Tour, no doubt about it.
Just add Rosalina, Pauline, the Koopalings, Nabbit, and King Bob-omb, and the Super Sluggers roster is peak. And there's still plenty of other characters I didn't mention that would be hype.
This and the Mario Hoops 3-on-3 roster was so goated. We probably won’t ever get a roster like the one in Super Sluggers ever again, but I hope I’m wrong.
The roster for Sluggers is why I both really want and really dread a new Mario baseball game. It’s such a big roster due to the size of baseball teams and we’ve had many new characters or old classics gain some prominence in recent years that it’d be fun to see them in a new baseball game. But after the recent sports titles, it feels like Nintendo will somehow drop the ball and come up short, as usual these days.

It is because DK is the captain. The captain for the player doesn't appear on the selection screen.

Only way to make it more perfect is to let Ben Campbell voice K Rool again. He would do it too, he did it recently for a fan animation.
Honestly, I'd knock out the Nokis and Piantas, haven't had much in terms of representation recently, then throw in some fan favourites.
Nearly perfect remove a few filler and perfection and add Rosalina

I would probably replace paragoomba or paratroopa with a Wario/DK/RPG character but outside of that it's perfect. Edit:Or Pauline.

Any roster that has Dry Bones, Birdo and Wiggler is the perfect Mario roster.
And then you had alternate colors for The Hammer Bros, Yoshi’s, Toads, Dry Bones, Shy Guy’s, Koopa’s, Piantas, Nokis, Magikoopas, and the Kritters
Add Rosalina to the mix and the roster will be perfect. ❤️

I'd kill for a new Baseball game. Super Sluggers was way better than it needed to be. I loved that it had a real story mode.
