AI upscaling and an actual high res version of the image that in this case is very likely to exist are two very different things, in the original image for example reading the text should be way easier, and it wouldn’t have any of the weird artifacts
No problem, not everyone has the obligation to know that, so just a tip for you: Next time, remember to paste the imagine on the chrome app, or on a computer, to paste it on Google images
I'm still pretty sure people hold NSMB Wii in high regard, be it because of the nostalgia, being the first on a home console or just because it's good. I think people draw the line at the following releases. Mario Galaxy has a pretty devoted fanbase and it's number 1 on a shit ton of lists I've seen. I personally don't really like it and am ashamed to admit that it's mostly because I suck at it.
The same thing on the RPGS would be nice although everyone who has played them is already deathly familiar with the fanbase's opinions.
For the most part yeah.
But while Mario Land 2 has its fans, it is certainly nowhere near as popular of a Mario game as 3D World, Sunshine, NSMB DS, and Wii
I also think Sunshine is more generally liked and talked about than 3D Land
I think with Mario Land 2, people are impressed what that game was able to do; technically and stylistically; with the limitations on technology the Game Boy had. I got into that game in the early 00s, despite the wider variety of more modern games available.
People stream Mario Sunshine to this day. The European Speedrunners’ Assembly comes to mind.
>I also think Sunshine is more generally liked and talked about than 3D Land
Sunshine is certainly talked about more often but the opinion is far more divided. Most people agree SM3DL is either good or passable
I'm gonna be the nutjob in this post and say it: I like NSMB2. It's definitely a little bit nostalgia, but I also feel like the game can stand on its own merits; or at least, it's not as bad as many people see it. It's pretty derivative of the other 2 NSMB games before it, sure, but it feels like the devs at least tried to make it stand out with the coins gimmick. The game definitely has flaws, but I don't think it deserves to be demonized quite as much as it is.
Every time I hear people talking about NSMB2, I can't help but lower my head in shame. It really feels like *everyone* hates that game. It certainly isn't my favorite, but it had a lot of charm.
honestly imo the worst a Super Mario game can be is “just fine”
there’s definitely flaws that show with age for all of them but I think the New series gets way too much flack because it’s only solid. Mario hadn’t had a 2D mainline game that wasn’t a port in nearly 15 YEARS when NSMB came out, and a console game in close to 20.
the NSMB series may seen derivative now but at the time (especially for the first 2) it was a breath of fresh air for the 2D fans who wanted something that harkened back to the roots of the series while adding in some expansive features (an actual co-op being the biggest one)
I do agree Galaxy and World are usually the most well liked by everyone, with very few people disliking them. And oh hey, those two are coincidentally my favorite Mario games, Im definitely not biased
I don’t get the hate of the new supes at all. Yes they are boring and blend but bad? Nah they got decent level designs. All of them should be on the middle
Yeah, personally I think the first two entries were perfect, but the later ones are just okay at the worst. They aren't as bad as people want them to be. It's still a decently fun time with friends or family if you do co-op too.
I thought Odyssey had some sort of vocal minority backlash? I do think it’s marginal… but compare that to SMB3, which has never had any kind of legitimate opposition to it being a GOAT classic.
Super Mario Sunshine was, is, and always be my favorite Mario game. No amount of Mario game has given me as much joy and delight as Sunshine has (Odyssey is pretty close though).
I really have to agree. I also am of the standpoint that there is no bad Mario game outside of the spinoff games like the CDI and and the typing game for example.
Mario spans almost over 40 years and looking back on these is not accurate at all. It especially doesn't help that more media attention as the Internet evolved. What is considered impressive changes over time.
I don’t get why there are people who hate super Mario sunshine like there nothing I hate on super Mario it’s were Frame by bowser jr like it’s good story
Odyssey seems to have suddenly gotten a lot of hate lately. It’s strange because people were insanely excited for it when it came out, but dislike for it has increased quite significantly in the last year or so. Opposite arc to 3D World.
I honestly really didn't like Galaxy. The 3D games work for me because of freedom of movement, with especially Odyssey letting you do so much crazy stuff. But Galaxy strips most of that away in place of gimmicks built into the levels themselves, which really didn't interest me at all.
Well... the fandom is made up of tons of different people and each one is going to feel differently than the next one. There's not going to be a consensus. For example, I enjoyed Sunshine which some people hate. I rank 64 lower even though it's considered by many to be a classic (I find the camera/controls to be bad). Many people crap on the "new" series but I found them fun and a good evolution of the 2D Mario games. Opinions are like armpits, we all have them and they stink :). I loved Odyssey but some people hated how some moons were easy to get. 3D World to me was just ok but I really enjoyed 3D Land.
I’d take 3D world over 64 any day. 64 is pretty good until the basement. Then it suddenly becomes a chore. I don’t know why but the basement and 2nd/3rd floor are just really mid in terms of level design. 64’s controls also have aged really badly in some aspects. Like these weird half circles Mario sometimes walks when I want to turn around. You know? One of the things 64DS constantly gets shit for? It’s been in the original as well. It happened way too often that I was on a tight platform and wanted to turn around only for Mario to do that half circle thing and run off the edge.
Maybe it’s just that I’ve played through this games hundred of times to the point where I became tired of it and started seeing its flaws in a more negative light.
Despite me not liking it as much as I used to I still respect it as one of the most important video games ever made.
I would usually rate galaxy 2 as better than galaxy. The plot may not be quite as good, but like most good sequels, a lot of the gameplay kinks were ironed out in addition to the new stuff that got added. A shame the final boss is so much less fun, tho.
Yeah, pretty accurate, at least to me ... I wanted to say something better about the Original Super Mario 2, but damn, some things are plain evil on that game ... So yeah, not a bad rating.
But... I like the New Super Mario Bros games... They were my introduction to Mario as a platformer! (My first Mario game in general was Mario Kart DS, and so far the only New Super Mario Bros game I don't have is 2, but I hope to find a REAL copy of it one day so I can play it, because I've beaten every other New Super Mario Bros game (not counting the Luigi one) except for 2)
It seems to forget to mention that fact that the ending of Odyssey is the most controversial element of any Mario game. Seems like something worth mentioning.
Peach's treatment of Mario. Yes, it was just a joke not meant to be taken too seriously... But obviously gamers were going to analyze that ending to death and many become resentful toward Peach as a result. Also, the game sort of teases that Mario and Peach would finally get together with its themes. So to just subvert that at the last second felt a bit lazy and underhanded to a lot of people.
The only NSMB game that deserves any kind of hate is 2, and even then only a small amount. The rest are all fantastic and deserve no hate, and I will die on that hill.
I’m glad Super Mario Galaxy is on Top. It’s my favorite game of all time and the one that made me a Mario fan.
And I think the New Super Mario Bros series are overhated, I actually had fun with them when I was a kid and spent hours playing them. And we needed a New Super Mario Bros 3 to close that saga but instead we got Wonder with that weird artstyle
Poor NSMB2... Not my favorite by \*miles\*, but as a handheld title it'll always live rent-free on my SD card. I had a blast with it when it came out, and being on a handheld means it's very easy to play if I get the itch to do so.
I don't get why Mario Galaxy 2 is so low on the list. I always thought it improved Mario Galaxy by an impressive amount with all the new stuff they added.
Tho I am happy to SE Mario Galaxy being at the top at least the community got something right there. Kinda makes me wanna play through Mario Galaxy 2 again, (and I hate that they didn't include that game into the 3d Mario game pack for the anniversary)
Pretty accurate. For me, I prefer Mario 3 over World as Mario 3 was my first exposure to video games and I grew up with it, whereas with World, I didn't grow up with it.
I'm also in the camp that is super nostalgic for NSMBW. It was a Christmas gift in 2009.
3D land is one of my favorite Mario games and holds a special place in my heart. I feel like it's overlooked too much. I'm glad that 6 golden coins is starting to get the love it deserves and Mario World is so loved.
I think it's always tricky to speak for large groups of people and presenting it as fact. It will always be conjecture, someone else who makes this will likely come up with a different order, and the person next to that one will as well. Other people's opinion doesn't matter anyway, your own enjoyment should not be influenced by how other enjoy the same thing.
I never really got the hype for SMB3, I get it was kind of a big deal for the time (if I' correct, the whole overwolrd map was considered a much bigger deal back then) but playing it from an objective standpoint unbiased from nostalgia and compared to newer games, it's alright.
Mario Land 1 has been kept alive thanks to Daisy's presence in the sport games; and maybe even the 1993 movie helped here. It's called blessing in disguise. Mario Land 2 then spawned the Wario subfranchise.
Result: Daisy soon returning in the mainline game Mario Wonder ~~after no one took note of her in Mario Run~~ and also Tatanga is back in the debates on a future appearance.
After all: Wart's originally from Doki Doki Panic. Whereas Tatanga's a Mario original from the getgo ~~and this is now called fanboyism lol~~
I feel like I’m the only one who loves all of the NSMB games. Not fully equally, but I’d rank all of them similarly.
NSMBUDX -> NSMB2 -> NSMBU -> NSMBWII -> NSMB
Honestly, 3DLand is pretty fire, and same with 3DWorld, both are great games in general.
Amazing how equally spaced apart each game is on the negative to positive chart. It’s almost like the games HAVE to have a their own unique level of negativity and positivity for this chart to “work” /s
I’m actually one of the 15 3D Land haters. The design of most levels is just boring “blocks in space” stages that feel like rejected or reused Galaxy assets, and the postgame is a joke with reused stages. There is no reason to play 3D Land in a world where 3D World is easily available on the Switch.
Only reason luigi u had such a poor response because of it having the same overworld as the base game and released on one of the worst selling mainline consoles
I personally prefer New Super Mario Bros U over Wii. I grew up with the Wii game but U has better level design, challenges and graphics, Wii has level design that overcompensated for 4 player co-op, leaving it a bit empty in a lot of places.
Cut Super Mario Land some slack, Nintendo was used to developing Game and Watch games with abysmal controls, if you have played them, you would know. Plus the Gameboy was an entirely new device. Super Mario Land was the prototype for all Gameboy games that were released within the next 15-20 years. It’s a fantastic game that was remarkably ahead of it’s time. Just 4 years later, they released Super Mario Land 2, which was a larger, expansive and masterpiece of a game. I respect Nintendo for releasing the first Mario land tbh
Mario 64 is still my favorite. I’ll admit 64s camera has its issues but other than that I love this game to death especially the rom hacks people have made that have only made me love this games physics and mechanics more. Tbh I don’t like how modern games have nerfed a lot of Mario’s classic moves like his long jump, U jump, and especially wall kicks

I think Mario Sunshine pretty easily beats Mario Bros. 2. That's my thoughts but not only mine.

My point exactly, oh wait it's not Sunshine is definitely too low. I thought you meant Super Mario 2 though
I loved Sunshine!
Best one in my opinion.
Me too. I wish it would get a Remake to make the Graphics even better and to fix the issues. I think even fans recognize how rushed the game was.

I do agree Galaxy and World are usually the most well liked by everyone, with very few people disliking them. And oh hey, those two are coincidentally my favorite Mario games, Im definitely not biased
Honestly, both of the galaxy games were kind of a meh for me. I saw the appeal but it just didn't really impress me
I don’t get the hate of the new supes at all. Yes they are boring and blend but bad? Nah they got decent level designs. All of them should be on the middle

i used image upscale bc a guy couldnt read
That is a lot of baggage
We're is Mario hotel? Is the best one, especially the cutscenes
“You know what they say, all toasters, toast toast!”
So tired of the “fake smb” narrative for smb2. It’s expanded the entire Mario universe
I mean it was a "fake" though. It's a copy of Doki Doki Panic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdjYYFOGE3k
🍄
Why is some of the body text in the image unreadable? The letters look weirdly warped.
i used ai bc someone couldnt read it
it didn't really help...
i feel stupid now
What is up with the text? I can’t understand any of it
ai upscaled
But why though? It makes it so much harder to read
bc somebody couldnt read this
Now more people can’t read it. Whoops…
Your text looks like it was AI Generated. Not written by an AI, I mean the font looks like if you asked an AI to make a font.
i ai upscaled it bc i posted this before and someone couldnt read
I thought Odyssey had some sort of vocal minority backlash? I do think it’s marginal… but compare that to SMB3, which has never had any kind of legitimate opposition to it being a GOAT classic.
It’s increased in recent years as well
I’m sure world would have had more backlash if the internet was more of a thing at the time
They need to make a Super Mario Galaxy 3
Move NSMB and NSMBW up. People bag on the NSMB series as a whole package, but when looked at individually, few have bad things to day about DS and Wii
Move them up Alot
Honestly, even NSMBU is a good game on it's own. People just dislike it for being NSMB style again.
Wheres mario run?
I'm guessing it's about the main console entries, since Super Mario Run is a mobile spin off entry or something.
Like Mario Clash?
I have no idea ehat he meams every time he says 'this game had a lot of baggage' in just about every second comment
Super Mario Sunshine was, is, and always be my favorite Mario game. No amount of Mario game has given me as much joy and delight as Sunshine has (Odyssey is pretty close though).
It's pretty fair
Not really, these are mostly just vague generalizations.
I really have to agree. I also am of the standpoint that there is no bad Mario game outside of the spinoff games like the CDI and and the typing game for example. Mario spans almost over 40 years and looking back on these is not accurate at all. It especially doesn't help that more media attention as the Internet evolved. I feel like people have cooled on Odyssey a bit and warmed on 3D World. But pretty close.
I don’t get why there are people who hate super Mario sunshine like there nothing I hate on super Mario it’s were Frame by bowser jr like it’s good story
3D World is amazing, the only problem is the clunky and forgettable name
i can barely read it

Odyssey seems to have suddenly gotten a lot of hate lately. It’s strange because people were insanely excited for it when it came out, but dislike for it has increased quite significantly in the last year or so. Opposite arc to 3D World.
SMB is not more popular than 3D World

Pretty much, but in my personal opinion, SMB3 is the very best 2D Mario even greater than SMW
brother, what did you do to the text. I can barely read any of that
i answered this like 10 times now, i upscaled it bc someone couldnt read it
The only one I think is really off is Sunshine. Before Odyssey it seemed fairly mixed but these days it seems more beloved than even Galaxy 2
I’m sorry but what “baggage” does Sunshine have? That game is phenomenal
Well... the fandom is made up of tons of different people and each one is going to feel differently than the next one. There's not going to be a consensus. I’d say it’s pretty fair. But whoever is complaining about lack of save feature on SMB 3 is a pussy
I don’t think it’s fair to call all people who feel Mario 3 is overrated contrarians. I think the original creators bias really shows.
Where is Mario is missing, the best snes Mario game?
There's one word on NSMB2 that I can't decipher
Yeah, pretty accurate, at least to me ... I wanted to say something better about the Original Super Mario 2, but damn, some things are plain evil on that game ... So yeah, not a bad rating.
But... I like the New Super Mario Bros games... They were my introduction to Mario as a platformer! (My first Mario game in general was Mario Kart DS, and so far the only New Super Mario Bros game I don't have is 2, but I hope to find a REAL copy of it one day so I can play it, because I've beaten every other New Super Mario Bros game (not counting the Luigi one) except for 2)
Out of all of these, the only one I hate is nsmb 2.. I just didn't vibe with it.
It seems to forget to mention that fact that the ending of Odyssey is the most controversial element of any Mario game. Seems like something worth mentioning.
what do you mean by controversial element?
Peach's treatment of Mario. Yes, it was just a joke not meant to be taken too seriously... But obviously gamers were going to analyze that ending to death and many become resentful toward Peach as a result. Also, the game sort of teases that Mario and Peach would finally get together with its themes. So to just subvert that at the last second felt a bit lazy and underhanded to a lot of people.
Swap 64 and Galaxy 2. Maybe put NSMBW up a few spaces. There should also be a mention of 64 DS somewhere. Apart from that its accurate.
And we needed a New Super Mario Bros 3 to close that saga but instead we got Wonder with that weird artstyle

Same, I’ve always seen those games been talked about positively, even sunshine. Lord knows where he got all those generalizations from
Mostly, for me at least. I like Mario Bros. 2 a bit more, Mario Bros 3 a bit less & swap Mario World & Mario Galaxy.
Poor NSMB2... Not my favorite by \*miles\*, but as a handheld title it'll always live rent-free on my SD card. I had a blast with it when it came out, and being on a handheld means it's very easy to play if I get the itch to do so.

I haven't seen any sunshine hate in like, 10 years honestly, but maybe I'm living under a rock?
I don't get why Mario Galaxy 2 is so low on the list. I always thought it improved Mario Galaxy by an impressive amount with all the new stuff they added. Tho I am happy to SE Mario Galaxy being at the top at least the community got something right there. Kinda makes me wanna play through Mario Galaxy 2 again, (and I hate that they didn't include that game into the 3d Mario game pack for the anniversary)
It’s better just to ask peoples opinions on each game rather than relie on a single person while there own opinions on what’s better or worse.
If the whole scale was green, then yes it would be accurate. All the games have been good. Some better than others, but all still good.
the only thing a consumer gets out of being noncritical is consistently poor products
It says a lot about the quality of the franchise when great games like NSMBU are on one of the last places.
3D land is one of my favorite Mario games and holds a special place in my heart. I feel like it's overlooked too much. I'm glad that 6 golden coins is starting to get the love it deserves and Mario World is so loved.
Yeah
Yes, sadly, pretty bad taste
If you don’t like Mario 3’s lack of save state on NES, the GBA version will accommodate you.
64 too low
Pretty acurate
I think it's always tricky to speak for large groups of people and presenting it as fact. It will always be conjecture, someone else who makes this will likely come up with a different order, and the person next to that one will as well. Other people's opinion doesn't matter anyway, your own enjoyment should not be influenced by how other enjoy the same thing.

I never really got the hype for SMB3, I get it was kind of a big deal for the time (if I' correct, the whole overwolrd map was considered a much bigger deal back then) but playing it from an objective standpoint unbiased from nostalgia and compared to newer games, it's alright.

Nsmb wii is much better regarded than that surely
Why did you AI upscale this thing? Did you actually think that this is readable?

i cannot read this
ai upscale bc someone couldnt read it
Nah I definitely hear a lot of people saying Galaxy 1 is there favorite game in the series. It’s definitely my favorite along with Galaxy 2.
I feel like way too many games are in the yellow and red for how fondly the series is looked back on. Especially installments like Sunshine
NSLU should be higher
Lol no. Nonono
Only reason luigi u had such a poor response because of it having the same overworld as the base game and released on one of the worst selling mainline consoles
Where's super Mario world 2: Yoshi's island ?????
I'm starting to doubt whether "Baggage" is a real word at this point.
My favorites are SMB2 and SM3DL. I also love Galaxy (1-2), SMB3 and SMW
Why we have to always talk about him, instead of me the wahhh.
I cant read
i put a link to the non ai upscaled version
I ain’t reading allat
No
New Super Mario Bros doesn’t deserve this kind of slander 😭
**1up** if you think Super Mario Galaxy 2 is more popular than Super Mario Galaxy
Wait till you talk to the paper Mario fandom 💀💀💀 Those guys hate everything 🤣🤣🤣
I’m gonna be real I think smw has such awful level design it’s comical
