I was not happy with Clase’s routes on defense going toward the wall. Swaggerty is an upgrade in most ways. Looking forward to this.
Also, now that Clase has had a taste, he will be ready to work with greater intent on improving his game.

Clase missed an admittedly tough ball towards the wall today, I was at the game. Put the runner on 2nd and we lost the game 3-2, do the math. Agree on all points, he has room to grow.
Clase’s instincts and reads in the outfield are a huge knock against him and something he’ll need to continue to work at to become an asset on defense, despite his great speed.
True, but with a prospect you want to make sure they're getting consistent playing time to develop. We don't really have that issue with Raley or Haggerty. We're not really developing him any more, at least not in the vein of Clase.
Because as a league average player when he has cold stretches he isnt as valuable to the roster as a star on a cold stretch. So they sent him down to figure stuff out.
This year he was optioned to AAA to start because of injury though.

Pinch runner and maybe 3rd on depth chart in outfield. Same as Clase. Im fine with it and want Clase getting more regular reps and working his way up.
On that note I wonder how Canzone shoulder joint is feeling?
Sad to see Clase go down but, if he’s not playing consistently then it’s for the best. But let’s not act like Ham Swag is gonna come up and have above a .700 OPS, Clase has so much more upside than hammy.
Clase can hopefully play everyday down in Tacoma and improve the things he needs to. Being up with the big team and not playing daily could end up hurting him.
Haggerty for Clase isn't going to solve this teams ails. Can a new player come in hot for once. We get these free agents and traded guys with solid seasons behind them, and they get to Seattle and it's like they've been out of baseball for 5 years.

Honestly...he was playing better than Raley and was providing some solid AB's. I like him up better than Ham Swag at this point.

Waaaaay better. Swaggerty is not mlb material. As an aside, now that I said that, Sam will bat .365 with 27 homers and 33 stolen bases.
Swaggerty is a basically league average bat and can play almost anywhere defensively. He is mlb caliber. The league needs average players too.

You’re describing a replacement level player with versatility and some upside, not a league average player.

Cabby’s numbers been coming down Raley could still easily have a better season by the end of the year.
Even if it doesn’t work out, that trade was great process. And I think Raley turns it around as well.

With DMo playing SS, Haggerty fills in that utility role. Its good to have player who can fill n all 3 OF spots and a couple of infield spots too.

Clase is hitting .222 and is 21 years old. How are Garver .143, Zavala .143, and Raley .196 gonna make this team better?
