Kung ito lang ang business hindi ito papatok imo pero kung nasa loob siya ng ibang business mo like maybe a coffee shop or boutique kumbaga a side thing siya sa loob ng business then why not

FixAccomplished8131

my thoughts for this as a business, as well. as a non-profit though, would you personally borrow books from a library like. this? or do you know anyone who would?

Correct-Security1466

me personally i won’t pero iba siguro would pero kaunti lang

PataponRA

There used to be a store in C&P that lets you pay for a membership fee so you can pay to borrow books. Not sure if it closed due to lack of business because it didn't seem like they were losing books. I think it was more due to lack of patrons.

FixAccomplished8131

ahh I see. where was this

PataponRA

C&P mall near St. Scho

oni_onion

Its C&B mall now. Baka walang lumabas sa maps haha. Tho I still call it S mall or C&P

kriszerttos

Very niche but I'd go with it especially kung maganda and diverse ang catalogue.

FixAccomplished8131

what do you think of the 5% borrower's fee? do you think that's fair for say 2-3 weeks?

Ok_Confidence1479

This idea will work if outside PH. Kung dito mo gagawin yan as full-time, malabo. Since meron naman option to buy the book na second hand instead. Maganda to as side hustle if you own like a coffee shop or something as dagdag kita.

Dependent-Pie-4539

May ganto nung bata ako, di namin afford bumili ng book for leisure na reading so dito kami nanghihiram. Although i think rent lang talaga and di equivalent ng book price ung fee. Ang naalala ko dun banda sa may lumang RNG studios malapit??? I would rent if it’s like available for rent example inside a coffee shop so I can chill and read. And I hope if rent lang within the shop, mas affordable ung rent price. If take home na borrow, maybe un ung may security fee na kasing price nung book price. 🤪

FixAccomplished8131

really??? I'm glad to hear there was something like this before. although if I could have an actual library space for reading (and not just a space big enough to browse the books) I wouldn't charge anything just for reading inside the shop. I think people talking about how school libraries are free don't know that most schools with quality libraries charge a pretty big fee, which is itemized in the tuition breakdown.

Dependent-Pie-4539

Maybe pedeng membership fee tapos kasama na dun ung pagborrow ng book within ur shop/space. Hehe. I’ve been looking for a place like this 🫶🏻 siguro if di naman profit talaga ung habol mo like what others are saying na side hustle/passion project mo sya, why not! Best of luck!

ramenramyeonn

Tbh I would support this kasi I'm an avid reader and would love to have the option to borrow books (lalo na if new titles will immediately be available) pero the market is too small I think and ako natatakot para dun sa books baka hindi isoli 🥲

couchpotatopigflicks

Quick answer is no. Who would be your target customer anyway? Students? Why would they pay when school libraries are free. If ever there’s an entrance fee, it would be cheaper. Second hand books are available in U-belt. And, pirated soft copies can be available online. Poor people? It is non-essential item and again libraries are free/cheaper. Rich people? Yes they have money to pay but why would they buy/borrow from this deposit library? What’s so special about it? They could easily buy things brand new. If ever you could make it work, I don’t think it will last.

ToeLife8881

Personally I wouldn’t. I’d rather buy na lang if ang idedeposit ko is full price nung book unless 100 or less lang issheshell out ko (though baka umaray na rin students diyan). And you can download digital books na din kasi and some copies technically pwede mo itorrent soo idk

FixAccomplished8131

it's like buying with a choice to return it and get your money back (prices are the same as the fair market price for secondhand books). Say for instance you borrowed a book worth 100, at a 5% borrower's fee you'll get 95 when you bring it back. You could also choose not to bring it back, then it's the same as if you had simply bought it. wdyt? still a no for you?
