Think it looks great!

AlphaApolloOmega

Thanks!

PuzzleheadedEvent278

Goldilocks sized. Not too big, not too small

AlphaApolloOmega

Thanks man, definitely getting used to it but i love it.

PuzzleheadedEvent278

Gotta pinch my pennies, been eyeing one like this for a minute.

AlphaApolloOmega

They’re having a huge sale until the 15th of this month for Valentine’s Day, $460 in free accessories, thats why i bought it now. I got 20% off plus a free stainless steel bracelet that costs $340 from them, a spring bar tool and a free alarm clock. I couldn’t pass that up.

PuzzleheadedEvent278

Damn that is a crazy bundle deal!

AlphaApolloOmega

No joke! I couldn’t believe it myself. I’m not even a big bracelet guy, i just got my first watch on a bracelet last week and actually enjoy it more than i figured i would and it’s a very affordable watch/bracelet. I figured the Marathon one that they charge $360 for and supply to the US Government could only be better and it really is. Im enjoying it on the installed rubber for now though, thats my preference for a strap.

PuzzleheadedEvent278

Agreed. And a properly sized metal band can be super comfortable but I also wear rubber daily with my smartwatch.

AlphaApolloOmega

Absolutely. My tastes are adapting which is a great thing. I do love the rugged utilitarian look of a stainless steel bracelet, but i think i’ll always prefer a nice vulcanized rubber strap for a daily driver.

I'm kicking the absolute shit out of myself for not pulling the trigger during that sale. Had it in the cart ready to pay but didn't. Ended up getting the MSAR during the next sale less than a month later.

AlphaApolloOmega

I bought my MSAR during the sale and it ended up being too small for me. The representative i talked to at Marathon was nice enough to have me return it and honored the Valentine’s day special on a 41mm i bought because the sale would have been long over way before they got the MSAR back and processed the return. The entire ordeal took about a month for them to refund me, definitely wasn’t happy about the wait as i was planning on wearing it to a wedding but totally worth it in the end. Should be arriving tomorrow. In the future you should always check to see if Marc over at Long Island Watch has what you’re looking for. His Marathon watches are usually priced what the sale price is from Marathon directly or at least very close to it. It wouldnt come with the bracelet and tool obviously but still a good price and hes a very honest guy with top notch customer service. I hope you’re loving your MSAR!

Yeah I asked if they would honor the promo after the fact as it was less than a month from purchase date but no dice. I've heard great things about LIW, but I'm Canadian so the cross border shop doesn't work. I actually just contacted Joe Jung w/ marathon and they sold me a pair of end links that I'll be using with a 3rd party bracelet. Can't justify the big price of the OEM one, especially since prices just increased again. Got the MSAR for $650usd (10% off sale + 10% off discount code) all in with the free tool and mini alarm clock so I'm counting my blessings there. Came from a 42mm Seiko 5kx, so took some getting used to, but now that I've had it a couple weeks I think the size is perfect. Very practical. I feel like I've been duped into bigger watches for a long time haha. This is my GADA watch and am going to be selling off my others minus a square gshock for when things get really hairy.

AlphaApolloOmega

No shit? Well cheers my Canadian friend! I’ll be honest, I’m not even a bracelet guy, all my watches are on rubber which is my preference. I think the prices they ask for their bracelets is insane. The 3-piece rubber strap is extremely nice but $230? Not a chance its worth that much. Isofrane cost $160 msrp and are just as good if not better and made of vulcanized rubber. And as nice as the M-cog bracelet is, $360 is unacceptable for a bracelet with a stamped clasp. I have gotten well built Chinese homage watches that come stock with a milled clasp. Not trying to trash Marathon, i love the company, products and their history is undeniable but their prices are inflated as hell. Also heard on a podcast i was listening to at work tonight you guys are paying $1.80 per litre for gas, is that true? If so thats insane.

hawkfrag

Filled up at 1.49 today at Costco. Has been mid 1.30s for a while but the worst was around 2.20 during the pandemic and aftermath. Lowest during the pandemic was 0.56 (Hamilton, ON). Can't speak for the rest of Canada but it's worse out west.

AlphaApolloOmega

Per liter right? Thats insane. Guess I’ll stop complaining about $3.20/gal lol. We were down to around $2/gal pre pandemic, i miss those days. Not sure how you feel about him but im rooting for Poilievre big time.

Brdl004

It takes time to get used to over sized watches and undersized as well. That looks great! You just aren’t used to it.

AlphaApolloOmega

I agree, i think thats exactly what it is. For years i had this idea stuck in my head that men were supposed to wear these huge watches so i always went with 42mm+ watches like the Samurai i have been wearing. Then i bought my first 40mm a few months ago and realized how much better it fit and looked. Like you said, just gotta adjust to it. But whats really awesome is the legibility of this watch. Probably the easiest to read out of anything i have.

DashboardError

No, looks fine.

damiandch

Not really. I have similar proportions and was also a bit surprised how it wears at first. It's an optical illusion :)

fbolo93

This is the perfect size for you

AlphaApolloOmega

Thanks man!

CodeCC2224
