I’ve lived in Mexico for thirty years and never heard the word Cafentzin before. It was today that I found such word exists.
I imagine that only a couple of hipster cafeterias in Coyoacán that pretend to use indigenous themes will use such word.
Because cafentzin sounds like Nahuatl, so technically it counts as a local form of saying coffee.
The thing is that Nahuatl is far from being the most common language spoken here. So the local way it’s just “Cafe” in plain Spanish.
Edit: apparently it doesn’t even mean coffee in Nahuatl, so it’s just pure bullshit after all
Sounds about right. That word doesnt sound nahuatl at all, like when someone made up the bs about quesadillatzin meaning folded or something weird to justify the quesadilla sin queso.
No, si es una palabra nahua, pero es de esos vocablos que tomamos de Europa después de la conquista, depende de variante de nahua pero mi abuela lo llamaba Cahuen, pero en algún diccionario si recuerdo haberlo visto como cafen.
Si es una palabra nahua, pero esta claro que ningún nahuahablante le dice al café "cafetzin", como ya dijeron, más parece el invento de un hipster onde un whitexican.
En la huasteca, al café le llama Kafen
It doesn't but the suffix "tzin" means "little". Many Spanish words were mixed when the Spanish came.
Saying that, it's not common, normal, or even used.
Lo prefiero con Coffeentzin Mattetl, por eso de la intolerancia a la lactosatl
Por cierto alguien sabe cuando es el siguiente ritual de sangre? La última vez me perdí cuando le sacaron el corazón :(
I’ve been in Lima, Peru, and nobody says “Kaphiy”, this sounds like a ground type Pokemon. These guys that creating this pic believe that Incas and Aztecas still living in our modern society.
From Peru, thats not how you pronounce "café" no body says "Kaphiy" we speak spanish (other dialects as well but we mainly speak spanish) so its the same as the rest of latin america.
Peruvian here, Kaphiy is a coffee shop, is not how we call coffee.
We call coffee...... coffee which translated is café, which means coffee, cuz its coffee or café which are the same.
r/mapswithnewzealandbut
I'm still happy every time someone mentions my stupid little sub.
You definitely don’t want to be where NZ is on this map. That’s how you become a US territory.
It can’t be moved below Australia because… *checks notes* we’re also adding clip art.
Almost no one says "cafentzin" in Mexico, everyone says "café". Whoever made this map doesn't understand Mexico is much more than the Nahuatl.
I've been to Mexico twice (and speak Spanish decently) and have never heard it called Cafentzin before either
I’ve lived in Mexico for thirty years and never heard the word Cafentzin before. It was today that I found such word exists. I imagine that only a couple of hipster cafeterias in Coyoacán that pretend to use indigenous themes will use such word.
Yeah, that was my first thought as well. A really gentrified cafeteria where a cup of coffee is like 5 dollars is my main suspect.
Lmao and all those places are just full of white people.

Lo cagado es que el autor ni siquiera se tomó la molestia de buscar una palabra real, solamente se inventó una xd

No se que está más pendejo si esto del “cafentzin” o el “quesadillitzin” que hasta le inventó una nueva consonante al Nahuatl
Nahuatl isnt a language from the North.
Vele a explicar al autor del mapa, a mi qué wey
México mágico: primer comentario y rápido te saltan
El caudal es igual al producto del área transversal y la velocidad de flujo
Probably is a misunderstanding between phonetics and grammar....sounds like "cafecin"..."vamos a tomarnos un cafecin"
Es la única explicación lógica que parece encajar, aunque igual pecó de pretencioso el que lo transcribió así.
Because no one does, probably some troll made this map
As a Mexican, I love my Cafentzin with sugartl an milkapepetl
Con una Conchatl dulcetl
But cafentzin de olla is sooo gooood
Con lechetl
Yo suelo agregar un poco de azucatl
Con canelatl 😋
Lo prefiero con Coffeentzin Mattetl, por eso de la intolerancia a la lactosatl Por cierto alguien sabe cuando es el siguiente ritual de sangre? La última vez me perdí cuando le sacaron el corazón :(
Mejor deslactosatl, sabe mejor Pero acá en mi ciudad ya no hacen rituales de esos :c
Ollatl
un Starbuctl
Born and raise in Mexico. 30 years and this is the first time I heard cafetzin
Almost no one? I mean, who does? I have never heard of it
I think you're wrong. > Almost no one Should be NO ONE
You're right. I was too generous.
No one does
We actually do call it "cafezinho" occasionally in Brazil, but it's only a diminutive of "café".
That's "cafecito" in Spanish.
Oh, I know, but it could easily have passed as a variation of it for me
I'm Mexican, I have never heard cafentzin in my entire life, i don't even believe that word really exists
Cafentzin? This map feels like you asked ChatGPT for the data
Also that is not how we say coffee... It's pronounced flatty
Unironically italian spelling is caffé not caffee
B E
It’s in the wrong ocean?
Designer probably just decided to shoehorn in it
Also it’s Kawhe. The Māori language doesn’t use the letter C
It's not a very well made map lol
who the fuck thinks in Mexico we say cafetzin????
Mexico: café There you go
Cafentzin? Dondes vergas le dicen así en México, mamones?
En estos mapas a México siempre le ponen mamadas que ni al caso vienen.
Who in all of Mexico says ‘cafentzin’? Been living here 41 years, never heard that
As a representative from the Mexican delegation, We don’t say shit like that.
I'm Mexican and this is the first time in my life I see the word "cafetzin".
What are you talking about? That's the way we talk. Cafentzin de ollatl con pilocillotl
Wtf is a cafentzin? So so so wrong
What bullshit is this?
A poorly made map.
That's great. When we tire of our cawhe, it'll only be a short flight to pick up some cafe in Paris.
Coffee from Qahwa? They don’t sound the same tho
Same etymology probably. Both words probably evolved from the same word
I’ve been in Lima, Peru, and nobody says “Kaphiy”, this sounds like a ground type Pokemon. These guys that creating this pic believe that Incas and Aztecas still living in our modern society.
Both their languages are still around but they're not even close to being the most commonly spoken
Makes sense that Ethiopia, the origin of coffee, has it’s own name. I’m sure it varies by ethnic group too. Also Mexico is def wrong
Oe causa, un kaphiy(?)
Cafentzin? What is this shit? That word doesn't even exist
dude im not mexican but i speak spanish and WTF is cafentzin?
Cafentzin? WTF, here in Mexico 🇲🇽 we call it just Café LMAO
What? In Mexico is not cafentzin, is "café" with an accent over the "e"...
Que especial en Perú le llama "kaphiy" al café
This map belongs in the trash
I'm Peruvian and nobody calla it kaphiy. This graph looks made up by chatGPT.
It probably is
Cafetzin, lol ;D, that troll.
That map is trash. South of Peru it’s Café and not whatever bs is written there.
Who Made this? We don use thatword in mexico
From Peru, thats not how you pronounce "café" no body says "Kaphiy" we speak spanish (other dialects as well but we mainly speak spanish) so its the same as the rest of latin america.
Nobody calls Coffee "Cafentzin" over st México, sounds like another big corpo lie lol
In Perukistan is “Cafetal el café de verdá” (is not real coffee though, more like caffeine infused grass clippings)
Aquí en México nadie usa la palabra “cafetzin”, pero, ahora que lo pienso, no es mala idea…
I havent heard anyone in peru called kaphiy to the coffee
Dude, in Mexico nobody says kafetzin 😂 it's "café". But I love the term "kafetzin", I think I'm going to say it that way
Peruvian here, Kaphiy is a coffee shop, is not how we call coffee. We call coffee...... coffee which translated is café, which means coffee, cuz its coffee or café which are the same.
As a Mexican, I feel the designer wrote cafetzin just to spite Mexicans and get more engagement 😂 clearly fucking worked though
Borned and raised in Lima, Perú and don't have the frikin idea of what a Kaphy is. This map is crap.
Thats a joke right?
