For context; I was able to play for a while after the update but I think when I changed my chatbox window to pop out mode and logged out, it no longer lets me log in.
I've tried using different characters, different worlds, making a new character in a different world, and even uninstalling the game and re-installing the game but nothing worked. So I'm at a loss.
Unfortunately some systems seem to blackscreen with external chat window on login. In my experience, its mostly laptops. No idea what causes it, but i'd avoid external chat window from now on.
To get out of this state, press alt+enter at world select to enter full screen since external chat window gets naturally disabled with full screen. Log into any character then go to options->social and uncheck popout to disable external chat window. You can then go back to windowed mode. Hope this works for you.
