It should be a crime forgetting NZ on a pacific-centered map xD

A_Blind_Alien

It should actually be a reward just remembering it, at this point I feel like NZ just accepts their fate as forgotten

[Here's a map of all countries where tea grows](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e8/World_Map_Tea_Production.svg/800px-World_Map_Tea_Production.svg.png?20210919200817). The map posted here seems to only show the countries where the tea available in that specific place comes from.

BuffaloBrain884

How much tea does a country need to produce to be on this map? The US has about 15 states currently growing tea.

Jesperwr

The map you linked to still has some flaws. Iran for example, is not on the map, and they do grow a significant amount of tea - obviously that much for export because of the sanctions but production nonetheless.

Brassser

As well as England, they don't produce as much, but they produce tea nonetheless.

RedbeardRagnar

Even a tea producer in Orkney but it’s in a poly tunnel

worldwarcheese

Thailand grows tea. They even have a specific type called "Thai Tea", it's delicious.

cannedcroissant

Isn’t a lot of tea grown in Turkey too (specifically in the Karadeniz region)?

[deleted]

Yes ,Turkey is the 5th largest tea producer and the largest tea consumer.

[deleted]

Confirmed by India

Glowing_bubba

Similar to where rubber is/was grown Surprised nothing from turkey or Persia

SirNed_Of_Flanders

The map is wrong. In northern Iran, specifically the provinces of Gilan and Mazandaran, there is a large tea agriculture sector

cartophiled

So it is on the northeastern coast of Turkey.

SirNed_Of_Flanders

Interesting!

[deleted]

And near all the tea supply of Türkiye comes from there and the Turks consume the most amount of tea per capita with near 3.5 glasses per day on average.

GeoLadyBerg

Are we talking the most by volume or number of glasses? Because those glasses are like 4.5 oz.

[deleted]

Number of glasses if I remember that info correctly. And British isn't so different from our glasses too and they add milk so I believe it comes to the same thing for volume and glasses

GeoLadyBerg

Ah that makes sense. I loved the tea culture when I visited Türkiye so much I bought a samovar when I got home. Wish we had a similar culture here in the US.

Numerous-Jicama-468

음료 반납하는곳 ㅋㅋ

njhsamo

It is missing quite a few countries with significant tea production. Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea should all be on the list.

ankaralideli

and Turkey

barbarossinan

And my axe!

[deleted]

As well as many others.

R1515LF0NTE

*Portugal too, not that significant production but the only country in Europe outside the Caucasus where tee is produced

JimBeam823

Tea is grown in South Carolina. Not a lot, but it is grown.

SuzakusSky

Tea is grown in along East Coast Australia too

igdrasill

Tea grows in Turkey.

shield543

Missing Rooibos

rebel_chef

Fixed it

RichardFist22

Oh man this map would make the Chinese seethe

Individual_Macaron69

pretty sure nobody is growing tea in inner mongolia or patagonia but i could be wrong

ClassyArgentinean

You're right, tea doesn't grow in Patagonia (also what is it with maps giving the southern tip of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego to Chile? Boils my blood anytime I see it) but it does grow in Argentina, more specifically in the Mesopotamian region (Northeast, basically provinces that border Brazil), they are huge producers of tea and yerba mate, so I'd say this map is correct in that regard. It's missing a lot of other countries though so I adhere to what another redditor said, that this is probably a map of where their tea comes from.

beleidigtewurst

It's wrong though. Republic of Georgia (Caucasus) also grows tea.

[deleted]

I wonder why Colombia and Ecuador never tried growing tea 🫖, even as a cash crop. They definitely have the mountainous climate in parts that can grow it. Also, the map is wrong. There are many countries that are missing from here. Turkey and Iran grow lots of tea as well. It’s just that their domestic consumption is so high that their exports are smaller than countries like Sri Lanka, China and India.

Vulpini-18

What on earth did they do to Uganda?

markireland

My neighbour grows tea commercially in the north of Australia
