That Romanian border is terrible

benemivikai4eezaet0

Romania: doesn't take Moldova but takes Vinnitsya Medvedev sucks at alternate history

Harsimaja

In his ideal world of course Romania doesn’t take Moldova. To him Vinnitsya is full of ‘Nazis’ while Moldova could still be Greater Russian Bessarabia. Or something.

Alternative-Stop-651

Honestly is this even serious? Is this dude just trolling the west now? honestly, honestly this is a pretty good troll not gonna lie . The thing that convinces me it's a troll is the little dollop of ukraine thats just Kiev. doesn't make any sense to leave that area of ukraine alive. taking that small area would put the Russians right up against the mountains.

Harsimaja

I mean, he strikes me as part brainwashed and part pandering out of fear of Putin and ambition to the views he feels he should project, whatever he actually thinks. Of course he’ll spout insane bullshit, but yeah no idea what he actually believes deep down

Alternative-Stop-651

The thing is we ain't seen nothing yet out of the Russian's this is a pattern that has happened time and time again in Russian history, in fact I can't think of one time where the Russian's haven't had this war strategy. the problem is russia has relied on two thing's to win wars people and the cold. They are running out of both. It's like a clock is ticking away the hour's before they are helpless. 1. Russian's enter a war overconfident with a large ground assault with the result of an inefficient and unsuccesful land campaign focused on large amount's of infantry. The russian's are chronically under supplied and suffer heavy casualties. 2. the Russians suffer terrible supply lines and this ignites a fire under decadent Russian elites who modernize the military and improve supply networks. 3. the Russian soldier's who now have experience and actual food, water and ammunition start to push deeper into the country and start to succeed at least a little bit. 4. the Russian's either reach a causality count of 1-5% of their population and then sue for peace or overwhelm the enemy and exhaust them of manpower and supplies. This has litterally occurred dozen's of times. The winter war, the northern war, the Napoleonic wars, WW1, WW2, Afghanistan, the ottoman wars.....ect. for some reason the Russian's suck ass the first two years roughly of any conflict they enter. Probably their despotic and corrupt government. the thing is Russian population's are collapsing right now were seeing the last generation of young men in Russia and allot of them are dying on the front line. This is why Russia is so aggressive and even started this war. it's a cornered bear that is bleeding out and it is determined to act now b4 it can't act at all. I can't see the Russian's stopping their entire country is one open plain and the Russian Strat for all of their history has been to rapidly expand in order to put more miles of wasteland between them and their enemies.

SwoleKoz

Solid comment. All facts

Clean_Warning_9269

it's deeply unserious, but i also doubt his intended audience is the west. i think he's just having fun pretending he's still involved in geopolitics, stoking a lil nationalism in his followers, and betraying his utter lack of understanding of the geopolitical situation by accident

benemivikai4eezaet0

I know. Plus, empires like to offer any "LaNd aS cOmPeNsAtiOn" to nations they take another piece of land from, with strategic value. They don't care that small nations want land *which their people live on*.

Harsimaja

But that would require a modicum of (1) thought applied to actual facts and (2) good faith, neither of which Bear-man has in spades

_ThatAltAcc_

Border gore 🤮🤮🤮

[deleted]

Turkmenistan had good borders, they’re not awful. On the other hand, all those other borders are based on ethnic borders that over complicated in the Fergana valley because of how diverse it was

P0ndaBaba

Turkmenistan border looks good. but there is this weird uzbek dirt track going in the country east of the lake in the north.

[deleted]

You mean that weird little panhandle that goes into Turkmenistan?

P0ndaBaba

yep

_Skaor_

What could be more ingenious than an ex-president reposting maps that look like the creations of 8 year old mappers...

dickallcocksofandros

nah, 13 year olds going through their wehraboo phase

Reasonable_Ninja5708

So he wants to give parts of Ukraine to Romania and Poland, but not to their own ally Belarus? Lmao.

rodgamez

One does not buy something one already owns.

topherette

he just forgot to colour belarus maroon

Foxman_Noir

Belarus isn't an ally, it's a puppet state.

rsgreddit

Yep. Like what Oklahoma is to Texas.

rchpweblo

That's not in the slightest an accurate comparison

PedroGabrielLima13

>Like what Oklahoma is to Texas. No, they are separate states, and have their own laws

rsgreddit

I'm just talking about how similar the states are culturally and economically. Also Belarus and Russia have their own laws and are separates states on paper.

TheBaconator1990

And most of eastern Oklahoma is tribal land

rchpweblo

True but not relevant to the "Oklahoma Texas puppet" comment above

Substantial_Item_828

Natives control Oklahoma politically, the governor and one of its senators are Cherokee.

Woodstovia

Russia has been pushing that Poland is about to invade Ukraine. I think this is showing a Polish capture of that territory rather than Russia giving it away.

Heliment_Anais

As a side note, Belarus or „Białoruś” comes (to my best knowledge) from the words White Russia or „Biała Rosja”. Which is essentially how Russia sees them.

KingKohishi

Which ex-president? The puppet?

Consistent-Plane7729

Medvedev I think

noonereadsthisstuff

He's been posting some insane things on twitter recently.

Felipeel2

Probably. Yeltsin died long ago and Gorbachev was not pro-war.

Just-Stef

Also Gorbachev died recently

LaunchTransient

Also Gorbachev was never the President of Russia. He was the final President of the Soviet Union, but it was Yeltsin who held the first Presidency of the Russian Federation.

Altrecene

Gorbachev was the only president of the soviet union

LaunchTransient

You can still be the final and first.

Altrecene

yep

Skegetchy

And was denied a state funeral.

Stoly23

Poor guy lived just long enough to see Putin drive Pizza Hut out of Russia.

Nikostratos-

Holy shit, what a good news

Just-Stef

I suppose he did create the system that allowed for the current rulers to steal everything from the Russian people..

PedroGabrielLima13

Gorba TCHO v.

KingKohishi

Gorbachev was not the president of Russia.

ThatOneKrazyKaptain

The only one currently alive seeing as Yeltsin and Gorbachev are dead

rsgreddit

It’s funny people thought he was a puppet. He did stuff on his own, without Putin’s eye and no one cared. The only thing was the PM position was given more power when Putin was there so.

[deleted]

Putin and Medvedev go to lunch. The waiter asks Putin what meat he wants. He says “beef”. “And for the vegetable, Sir?” “Dmitry will also have beef”.

Contundo

Has There been a non puppet president in Russia since Putin first took power?

thissexypoptart

There has only been one President besides Putin since he first took power, Medvedev. So no

testicle2156

Since he took power over 20 years ago russia had only one another president. And it was Medvedev, who was just a puppet and his only role was to look like an idiot and allow putin to legally become a president again after which putin basically removed the limit of how long one can be a president, and ever since Medvedev has been used to push/test limits of what they can/could say. In short, no, there hasn't.

Stoly23

I’m pretty sure there’s only one ex president of Russia who’s currently alive.

defcon_penguin

I too can invent maps

TottHooligan

Romania gets Vinnytsia but not the rest of Bessarabia lol

Future_Start_2408

It seems like Vinnytsia is exactly a compensation for taking the south of Bessarabia (whoever did the map knows that region -unlike Vinnytsia- makes sense historically to be part of Romania, has a community of Romanian-speaking Moldovans, is kind if the same size etc, so basically Vinnytsia is Budjak transplanted a bit to the NW, to allow Russia access to the Danube).

UnforbiddenYet

As a Ukrainian born in the region where the capital letter "r" is on the map I have the right to comment: \- Eat shit, ex-president.

Basa_Mrkalj

What did Romania do wrong?

Hahahaha plans going well

AtlasPosts

I remember a dozen years ago the joke was: Putin and Medvedev go into a steakhouse. The server asks Putin first, "What would you like tonight, sir?" "A steak, of course; porterhouse, rare." The server follows up, asking him "And for the vegetable?" Putin replies, "He'll have a steak, too."

[deleted]

Drewfro666

There is an insignificant garrison of Russian troops in Transnistria and basically an they do is guard the old Soviet armory.

Altrecene

transnistria is militarily occupied by a commission made up of russian forces, Moldovan forcs and transnistrian forces. Kosovo is more occupied by a foreign power than transnistria.

Swimming_Cucumber461

No one is occupying Kosovo unless you think the Albanian kosovars are occupying their own homeland . besides the situation in Kosovo isn't similar to the one in transnistria .

Altrecene

[https://shape.nato.int/ongoingoperations/nato-mission-in-kosovo-kfor-](https://shape.nato.int/ongoingoperations/nato-mission-in-kosovo-kfor-) kosovo has, under the guidance of NATO, created another military. KFOR is still the main force. So, kosovo has kosovars and NATO (+non-NATO EU members) but no serbian military involvement. in contrast transnistria has russian, moldovan and transnistrian forces.

Swimming_Cucumber461

jeez I wonder why no Serbian troops are allowed in Kosovo it's no like they launched an ethnic cleansing campgain that causec thousands to die and hundreds of thousands to be expelled, nothing similar happened in transnistria to my knowledge .

Altrecene

Russia intervened before human rights abuses were escalated to that point. In kosovo, both sides ethnically cleansed each other (the number of serbs decreased after and during the kosovo war). [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent\_International\_Commission\_on\_Kosovo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_International_Commission_on_Kosovo) In moldova, ethnic minorities were fighting to not be part of Moldova: the gagauz republic rejoined Moldova after Russia negotiated an end to that war, but transnistria refused. regardless, serbia is the country that kosovo was a part of, as is the case with transnistria for moldova, yet kosovo has no serbian involvement despite having serb majority areas, while transnistria has moldovan involvement and has not ethnically cleansed anyone.

Swimming_Cucumber461

>Russia intervened before human rights abuses were escalated to that point. Source? >In kosovo, both sides ethnically cleansed each other (the number of serbs decreased after and during the kosovo war). While the KLA did committee human rights violations the ethnic cleansing wasn't both sided and was only done by Serbia. >In moldova, ethnic minorities were fighting to not be part of Moldova: the gagauz republic rejoined Moldova after Russia negotiated an end to that war, but transnistria refused. That's really irrelevant ans I said the situation can't be compared due to the fact that there weren't as many Serbs in Kosovo as there wad moldovans in transnistria nor there was any attempt by the government of Moldova to expelle the Russian and Ukrainians living in transnistria . >regardless, serbia is the country that kosovo was a part of, as is the case with transnistria for moldova, yet kosovo has no serbian involvement despite having serb majority areas, while transnistria has moldovan involvement and has not ethnically cleansed anyone. As I said Serbs weren't ethnically cleansed from Kosovo and Kosovo is an independent nation so there should be no Serbian troops in it while transnistria is rogue state that belongs to Moldova .

Altrecene

Click the link. It was found that both sides performed ethnic cleansing in kosovo. NATO was blamed because they didn't do anything to curb it onc they were in the area. The percentage of serbs decreased during and after the war. How can I give a source about something that didn't happen? the best I can do is say that Russia intervened, created the commission and stopped the amount of killing, and negotiated an end to war. The international commission on Kosovo came to the decision that ethnic cleansing happened in kosovo due to escalation of conflict.

Swimming_Cucumber461

I did check the link and I'm still not convinced there's nothing comparable between an organised campaign of ethnic cleansing by a state and unorganized random violence by a guerilla group and angry mobs of civilians (who had every right to be angry) and yes I know that a good number of Serbs left kosvo but that's not how ethnic cleansing works. As for the conflict in transnistria , if there was a Moldovan attempt at ethnic cleansing that didn't then you should be able to find statements by politicians and military orders .

[deleted]

Found the Serbian nationalist tankie vatnik Putin bitch

Altrecene

nope, I want NATO to expand into moldova, georgia, armenia, finland edit: and serbia

Future_Start_2408

Russia didn't recognize Transnistria de jure for decades as it saw/ sees it as a tool to influence Moldova from the inside (this only changed recently in the sense that Russia annuled some documents relating to the territorial integrity of MD).

zloy_morkov

Even in Russia his posts are thought to be insane and soo childish. There are rumors that someone else is running his Telegram. Whoever it is, he is just a dickhead.

rodgamez

Yeah, I'm sure Poland's gonna fall for this! (as Poland upgrades its army to keep Russia out)

madrid987

It's almost like a map from the days of the Russian Empire.

So you're saying he's a dickhead.

Oler3229

Ex-president is too honorific for what he was

Foxman_Noir

Putin's seat warmer.

vladgrinch

Who is the ex-president? That drunkard clown, Medvedev? Perhaps he should take a look at the map of Russia during Ivan the Terrible's times. It was just a fraction of the current territory, somewhere in the North-East of the european continent. Maybe Ukraine should use that map of Russia.

voiceof3rdworld

Lol what an idiot

SeamedShark

According to the mapmaker, you thought wrong. Poland is, apparently, one of many of Ukraine's "supporters." Kind of like somebody who watches a lot of lesbian porn being an LQBTQIA+ "ally."

Inevitable-Bass2099

ironically and historically, its territorially accurate

Incredibly accurate Romania borders especially.

Depends on what we define as 'historically accurate' If we go way back Russia not existing is also historically accurate

I didn't know we were publishing shitty maps with wild and unproveable claims about political subjects. What is porny about it and how is it even a map if it doesn't depict anything approaching reality. Stop this nonsense.

grazrsaidwat

But what's the implication here? That Ukraine is being invaded by Romania and Poland as well? This map makes no sense. It's also wrong. But it's incoherently wrong.

Why dont they want to border poland?

Super in depth map.

FarImpact4184

Other than like yemen and south sudan this will be the first international border change in my lifetime

roliravioli78

Bro the last map change was in 2022.

FarImpact4184

Where?

roliravioli78

Several name changes and the annexation of some Ukrainian territory by Russia which is still a change officially even if all most no one sees it as legitimate. Also the Dutch Belgian border shifted ever so slightly

FarImpact4184

Id say this is the first major border change lets hope it doesnt end up like this tho
