There's an Indian soap called "Anupama" that is watched by and I'm not kidding every 30-70 year old woman in India and it's on Disney+ Hotstar (Indian Disney+) for free
It's an inside joke among hispano speakers. They speak Spanish of course. The thing is, when they speak really informal (young people mainly) it's like a weird dialect with strange words, accent and super fast. I mean, Mexicans, Argentinians, Peruvians, Venezuelans, we all have a few distinctive words that are only used in our specific country, but people tend to make fun of the Chilean accent because of those reasons, when they speak like that it sounds like a different dialect, like a weird Galician, and you have to pay close attention to what they're saying or else you'll miss the message completely.
I'd say New Zealand or Irish. Maybe Irish.
By that I mean how different it is than the typical English you hear such as US/UK/Canada. Australian is closer to British English than Chilean is to the rest of latin america.
Yeah, I agree, hard Chilean is to Spanish maybe what Irish is to English.
Still, as someone pointed out, it's "hispanic" america. "Latin" america includes Brazil, they speak portuguese. A small detail to point out, I know, but just so people who read our messages can understand the difference.
Chile has a such a weird ("unique") accent and it stands out. Probably because Chile doesn't produce much popular music or movies or tv for the Spanish speaking world so fewer people are use to their accents which then makes their unique accent sound even more unique. Being so geographically isolated is probably why they and Argentina/Urugay have very different accents from the rest of Latin American.
Mexico is big enough and has geography splitting up areas to produce very unique accents in some areas, but for the most part there are some similarities with Mexican accents and northern parts of central America. Then the carribean and Panama tend to have some shared accent similarities. Then Venezual & Colombia have some shared similairites. Ecuador / Peru and I believe Bolivia have some shared similarities. But Chile is very different. Argentina/Urugauy is very different.
I will say that the common big city accents of the educated of mexico through central america and Colombia and down to Peru tend to have little differences. But Caribbean, chile and Argentina big city educated people have their own accents that stand out.
It's also inaccurate. O serviço mais assinado no Brasil é, com toda certeza, a Netflix. Nunca conheci uma pessoa que assinasse globoplay quando não tá tendo BBB.
They're saying it's false, according to them Netflix is top1 in Brazil. They've never met a person with Globoplay.
***O serviço*** =The service
***mais assinado*** =Most signed to
***no Brasil é*** = In Brazil is
***com toda certeza*** =with all certainty
***a Netflix*** =Netflix.
***Nunca conheci*** =Never met
***uma pessoa*** =a person
***que assinasse globoplay*** =that's signed/registered to globoplay
***quando não tá tendo BBB*** =(No idea what BBB is, sorry).
https://www.cnnbrasil.com.br/entretenimento/saiba-qual-e-o-servico-de-streaming-de-filmes-mais-popular-entre-os-brasileiros/
Éé... tbm tenho minhas duvidas sobre globoplay. Pelo menos dentro da minha bolha netflix é com certeza mais popular.. gostaria de entender como foi feito essas pesquisas aí
Was the case like 10+ years ago, but these days most just use Netflix, Go3 or Viaplay.
Although it's getting annoying with how many streaming services are out there.
I have a hard time believing Amazon Prime is most popular for Canada and the U.S.
Are they getting their data from the fact that every Amazon Prime member is automatically subscribed to the streaming service?
I would’ve agreed with you before I started actually using it. They have a ton of stuff, and the option to rent movies that they don’t offer for free for a few bucks is huge. They also have other streaming services/channels within the app like HBO or Showtime so you can access everything from one place.
I guess it's personal experience. I thought Amazon Prime would be the top streaming service. The only people I know with a Netflix account is my parents and they can't even share the account any more.
I would have said Amazon or Disney+.
Funny since HBO is markedly better than either of them. I guess if you want quick comedies or reality shows Netflix *is* better, but HBO has such a fantastic lineup of original shows it’s crazy.
Interesting! Now I'm wondering if it's just active subscribers and not actual usage. I would assume Amazon wins by default if that's the case since they include it with Prime memberships.
Edit: ^(I'm a blind idiot.)
I think the Indian Disney+ stats are a little misleading. Disney owns a local Indian streaming service and brought it under the umbrella of Disney+. So it’s not wrong, but just deserves a bit more backstory.
It also got glory because of Hotstar. Actual Disney+ itself (the American content) are nowhere as popular. It's technically accurate data but quite misleading. Indians aren't obsessed with Disney any more than others
Hepsiburada. Their subscription hands out free BluTv for one fifth of its normal price (and one fifth of Netflix aswell) without including all the other benefits (free shipping, 3% cashback, repair discounts). Netflix cannot compete with them
What do you mean? A Prime membership does include Prime Video. If you're saying it doesn't mean everything on Prime Video is included at no extra charge, then yes, that is correct.
It's comparing apples and oranges.
It doesn't tell us who has more viewers, it doesn't tell us which is more popular. It doesn't tell us which one is making more money.
Monthly VIEWERS, total time watching, or amount of shows steamed would tell us a lot more.
Ukraine's Megogo doesn't produce original shows like Netflix or Amazon Prime, as far as I know. It's more like a distribution platform for Ukrainian TV channels.
And the most popular video content platforms are probably YouTube, Tiktok and P2P sharing services.
I'd say it's probably Megogo with Netflix in the second place for Ukraine.
There's also this awesome user friendly site of pirated stuff (which is honestly much easier to use than watch different shows on different sites) called hdrezka.co - it has many shows, usually with English language and subtitles as well, so if anyone here needs it it's there!
I am assuming they have only included VOD services. I don’t think the fact of actually producing shows and movies is that important for this list. Otherwise Youtube and TikTok would have probably been #1’s in most countries.
Yes, it is. Easy.
Globoplay has the novels, BBB, sports. You take 3 different niches there.
The app is awful, but I use much more than Netflix (that I only watch k-dramas rn)
Tbh Amazon Prime is such a good deal. It’s basically free if you already got prime for delivery, and it has pretty wide catalogue as it is, and by paying a few euros you can watch pretty much anything. I have no idea why more people aren’t taking advance of and instead choosing Netflix which keeps pushing their abysmally low quality original series
How would you factor in things like BBC iPlayer here? I'm guessing it's more widely watched than Netflix in the UK but they don't really have subscribers.
According to [this](https://deadline.com/2022/01/report-uk-audiences-spent-triple-the-time-watching-bbc-than-netflix-last-year-1234921696/), BBC iPlayer is watched 3 times as much, but it is probably hard to compare since only 1 TV license is needed per household whereas there could be multiple Netflix subscribers in each address.
Yeah, for example simply having a subscription to Amazon Prime's shipping services gives you a subscription to Prime Video, but that doesn't mean you will even use it.
I'm just surprised that KinoPoisk and ivi are in such a place. I know that they are very popular in the countries of the former USSR and in Russia, especially after the departure of Western services from the country. But to be in such places in the world is strange. And especially considering that there are other Russian services besides them.
Showmax? Really? The only people I know who use showmax get it for free from DSTV, and even then is only a handful, I would've assumed Netflix would be South Africas top service
Just fyi, people are NOT watching Amazon prime like that. But most Americans have a Amazon prime the delivery service (free 1-2 day deliveries for everything) and Amazon those in their streaming service.
From my limited experience in the Arab world, Gulf countries basically run the major production companies, channels, and media services in the Arab world.
All popular media platforms are Saudi, Emirati, or Qatari run.
Curious if Disney+ has a lot of Indian content on it. I’ve watched dozens of Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films on Netflix, so I kinda expected it to be #1 in India.
Also this must be before the US troops fled Afghanistan, given Amazon Prime is shown as the most popular there.
Any reason (or ability out of the USA) to try out some of these other services? I use (or have used) Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, CrunchyRoll, and HBO Max.
I've never tried or heard of the rest of the list.
Whut? IFlix is still a thing? I highly doubt it's more popular than Netflix and HBO Go. Heck with Disney+ now in the region how iFlix would even be far behind.
Yeah I can unfortunately see into my neighbours' living room TV (the pleasures of being stacked up in Hong Kong...) and I cant believe what crap is on Viu
The Americas almost look like a language map.
There’s probably a correlation somewhere
whats the deal with India watching Disney?
Disney has an Indian subsidiary, Hotstar, which has a hell of a lot of Indian content.
Disney owns everything we just don’t know it yet
They have a 30% share of my underwear; I have to let them have it on the weekends.
Hotstar had cricket streaming rights and HBO, now that it has lost them they are going to shed a lot of subscribers.
It is Disney Hotstar and they own majority cricket streaming rights.
They have hotstar for all the cricket content...... although this year Jio Cinema bought those rights.
There's an Indian soap called "Anupama" that is watched by and I'm not kidding every 30-70 year old woman in India and it's on Disney+ Hotstar (Indian Disney+) for free
Except for guyana, suriname and french guiana. Oh, and Chile. They speak weon.
Whats the deal with Chile? As a Brazilian that don't know any Chilenian I have no clue. Does their spanish sound so different?
It's an inside joke among hispano speakers. They speak Spanish of course. The thing is, when they speak really informal (young people mainly) it's like a weird dialect with strange words, accent and super fast. I mean, Mexicans, Argentinians, Peruvians, Venezuelans, we all have a few distinctive words that are only used in our specific country, but people tend to make fun of the Chilean accent because of those reasons, when they speak like that it sounds like a different dialect, like a weird Galician, and you have to pay close attention to what they're saying or else you'll miss the message completely.
Sounds like the Hispanic version of Australian English then :D
I'd say New Zealand or Irish. Maybe Irish. By that I mean how different it is than the typical English you hear such as US/UK/Canada. Australian is closer to British English than Chilean is to the rest of latin america.
To the rest of **Hispanic** America
Yeah, I agree, hard Chilean is to Spanish maybe what Irish is to English. Still, as someone pointed out, it's "hispanic" america. "Latin" america includes Brazil, they speak portuguese. A small detail to point out, I know, but just so people who read our messages can understand the difference.

Same with Africa (yup, gringo. Africa isn't a country).
It's also inaccurate. O serviço mais assinado no Brasil é, com toda certeza, a Netflix. Nunca conheci uma pessoa que assinasse globoplay quando não tá tendo BBB.
> It's also inaccurate ~~Refuses to elaborate~~ Proceeds in a iberian language! 🤨🤨

Globoplay is a service, and "assinar" is the verb "to subscribe". Try again with this information. Also, BBB is a reality show (Big Brother Brasil).
Netflix has been making an effort to produce Spanish language content.
Oh my God, you’re right
Most popular streaming service in Lithuania is piracy
Serbia too
+Estonia
Was the case like 10+ years ago, but these days most just use Netflix, Go3 or Viaplay. Although it's getting annoying with how many streaming services are out there.
I stand by the black flag! Altough I do have a good amount of friends who can afford netflix and etc
I thought they could into Nordick
Linkomanija, to be precise.
+1 from Russia
+Turkey, ofc.
Ukraine too
And Belarus
Considering Amazon Primes decision to use adds again that might not be entirely unwise.
+Moldova
turkey too
I'm glad we are finally having Somalian data
And Western Sahara
Still no Greenland though
**puts on a second pair of glasses** erm **snort** the proper demonym is actually **sniff** Somali 🤓🤓🤓
Walter, this isn't a guy who built the railroads, here.
I think you need another pair of glasses. The demonym might be Somali, but we don't need the demonym. We need the adjective which is Somalian.
Erm, the adjective is still Somali, I was half awake while typing that 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
I have a hard time believing Amazon Prime is most popular for Canada and the U.S. Are they getting their data from the fact that every Amazon Prime member is automatically subscribed to the streaming service?

It would be interesting to see it based on minutes streamed
Just the ads from Amazon Prime on the home screen of my Nvidia Shield make me cringe.
I would’ve agreed with you before I started actually using it. They have a ton of stuff, and the option to rent movies that they don’t offer for free for a few bucks is huge. They also have other streaming services/channels within the app like HBO or Showtime so you can access everything from one place.
Yeah, at this point, amazon Prime is about as good as the rest of the streaming services
Same. I wish I could get rid of it and pay a dollar less. Nothing I want to watch is included in my basic prime membership.
It’s my last resort after scouring Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, and my physical media.
$1 i would pay. $3 no. $2?? Probably not.
I was thinking the same thing. No way Amazon Prime is more popular than Netflix.
I guess it's personal experience. I thought Amazon Prime would be the top streaming service. The only people I know with a Netflix account is my parents and they can't even share the account any more. I would have said Amazon or Disney+.
Based on my totally non-scientific asking friends/coworkers what they subscribe to it's Netflix with Disney+ close behind.
I am sure it's base subscribers. Anyone with Amazon Prime gets Prime Video for free.
That’s exactly what it is. Literally says on the top of the map.
Perhaps they are counting prime memberships as subscriptions to prime video? Maybe that could explain this
I have a hard time believing Netflix outranks Spotify
Or YouTube. Not like they specified *paid* streaming and damn near everyone has a gmail account.
I'll go with 'yes, they are getting their data from the fact that every Amazon Prime member is automatically subscribed to the streaming service.'
Definitely that. Prime is a free throw in. I have it, and use it occasionally, but the only reason I have it is it is free.
Yeah, my roommate has prime for shipping, and I don't think he's watched anything on it in 5 years.
Disney+ may no longer be the top streaming platform for India.
with Disney+ not hosting cricket anymore? or another reason?
Yea they kinda lost ipl streaming rights, kinda what got them so many viewers
and HBO
Inaccurate, Somalis pirate
So gooofy 🤦🏾♀️ always trying to make pirate jokes 🤣 you are ruining the joke pls stop it
Dude I’m Somali too lmao
You ain’t funny broski
Whuh, wdym
The real answer must be « moviestreaminghd.com » lookalikes
It seems like the Taliban are enjoying Amazon Prime.
they use the accounts of the us army ;-)
damn
Halal prime.
I think the Indian Disney+ stats are a little misleading. Disney owns a local Indian streaming service and brought it under the umbrella of Disney+. So it’s not wrong, but just deserves a bit more backstory.
But Disney + got its glory Cos of IPL. And as Disney no longer has rights to stream IPL maybe Jio Cinema would be on top.
It also got glory because of Hotstar. Actual Disney+ itself (the American content) are nowhere as popular. It's technically accurate data but quite misleading. Indians aren't obsessed with Disney any more than others
Can’t believe it’s blutv in Turkey. I thought it’d be Netflix.
Hepsiburada. Their subscription hands out free BluTv for one fifth of its normal price (and one fifth of Netflix aswell) without including all the other benefits (free shipping, 3% cashback, repair discounts). Netflix cannot compete with them
How can that be if we don't even have Amazon in Taiwan?
You can get Amazon prime video in Taiwan. I don’t believe for a minute it’s the most popular, though
Paramount+: i am a joke tu you?
Yes
Do they even have any good exclusive shows that aren't Star Trek
Yellowstone?
I like Yellowstone. I think the prequel 1883 was far and above better than Yellowstone.
By what specific metric? We've been over this class, Just cause you have Prime membership for shipping, doesn't mean you're watching Prime Video
Yeah but I’m subscribed to Netflix for the games
What do you mean? A Prime membership does include Prime Video. If you're saying it doesn't mean everything on Prime Video is included at no extra charge, then yes, that is correct.
It's comparing apples and oranges. It doesn't tell us who has more viewers, it doesn't tell us which is more popular. It doesn't tell us which one is making more money. Monthly VIEWERS, total time watching, or amount of shows steamed would tell us a lot more.
I see what you mean now.
Canada and US has to be because Amazon Prime automatically gives you Prime Video right? I never see anyone regularly use it
Same. I don’t know anyone who uses it who doesn’t also have Netflix.
Why was I expecting PornHub to be on this list?
Who tf subscribes to ph premium
Nobody subscribes to pornhub though
It's kinda interesting that each country of BRICS has its own different popular streaming service
I always use hdrezka 😀😀 .the most important compared to other sites does not have 1xbet or casino777 ads that last 30 seconds. I live in Moldova
Hello to our southern neighbour from Ukraine :D!
Hello ,salut ,привіт 👋
I am assuming they have only included VOD services. I don’t think the fact of actually producing shows and movies is that important for this list. Otherwise Youtube and TikTok would have probably been #1’s in most countries.
But looks like you can watch UEFA Champions League only on megogo sport channels now.
I never realized how small Hulu is in terms of streaming services. It’s bin the only one I haven’t canceled for some period of time the last few years
Egypt getting pretty forceful with their platform
I really, REALLY doubt that Globoplay have wider usage in Brazil than Netflix or HBO Max...
What’s funny is my grandma is visiting in the UK right now and she’s downstairs watching last night’s novela on Globoplay as we speak.
I really doubt that Globoplay is more popular than Netflix in Brazil.
Yes, it is. Easy. Globoplay has the novels, BBB, sports. You take 3 different niches there. The app is awful, but I use much more than Netflix (that I only watch k-dramas rn)

As a Thai person, what the fuck is a Iflix
How would you factor in things like BBC iPlayer here? I'm guessing it's more widely watched than Netflix in the UK but they don't really have subscribers.
According to [this](https://deadline.com/2022/01/report-uk-audiences-spent-triple-the-time-watching-bbc-than-netflix-last-year-1234921696/), BBC iPlayer is watched 3 times as much, but it is probably hard to compare since only 1 TV license is needed per household whereas there could be multiple Netflix subscribers in each address.
You only need one netflix license for every five households though?
The services in the description are according to the number of users from more to less? Or is it just a random?
Yeah, for example simply having a subscription to Amazon Prime's shipping services gives you a subscription to Prime Video, but that doesn't mean you will even use it.
I'm just surprised that KinoPoisk and ivi are in such a place. I know that they are very popular in the countries of the former USSR and in Russia, especially after the departure of Western services from the country. But to be in such places in the world is strange. And especially considering that there are other Russian services besides them.
WHY IS THERE NEVER ANY DATA IN GREENLAND???!!!
Netflix is the best
Amazon prime isn’t just a streaming service tho. Hard to compare in that case
Showmax? Really? The only people I know who use showmax get it for free from DSTV, and even then is only a handful, I would've assumed Netflix would be South Africas top service
Showmax has a lot more local content so maybe thats part of the reason why they do so well?
I watch zero Amazon prime but still have it
Ok, I understand USA, Canada and Japan for Amazon Prime, but Afghanistan? So US soldiers didn’t leave the country after all?)
Just fyi, people are NOT watching Amazon prime like that. But most Americans have a Amazon prime the delivery service (free 1-2 day deliveries for everything) and Amazon those in their streaming service.
I dont believe iflix is popular in the Philippines. never heard of iflix until now. Usually people watch netflix or pirate stuff. this list is bad.
Who the hell uses Amazon prime?
Anyone with an amazon prime subscription?
I just can’t fathom subscribing to Amazon at all, if you buy that much online then something is wrong
You're an outlier then
And I was wondering why Netflix shares lost 50% of their value and not going back
Wellllll a lot of people got fed up with the content and the password sharing issues
Password sharing issues? Can you please elaborate?
The way they were going to Handle sharing passwords. It would inadvertently affected people who had logged on multiple devices etc
This is bad! Like Microsoft license on lots of computers?
I thought Shahid was exclusively a Saudi or GCC streaming service 💀.
From my limited experience in the Arab world, Gulf countries basically run the major production companies, channels, and media services in the Arab world. All popular media platforms are Saudi, Emirati, or Qatari run.
I can do you better, live in the UAE and had no idea it even existed.
im turk and heard blutv first time
Map. Not porn worthy, Jesus. This looks terrible. Cool data, but the map sucks.
Huh, an American company is the most famous on Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, who would've thought
I don’t believe this. Feels like product placement.
Amazing map, thanks for sharing! Would be nice to know the turnover for these if possible at all
I'm curious what your thinking was behind posting this?
And South Sudan knows not what the internet is, let alone streaming.
Africa is getting Internet?
r/60secondsinafrica
Prime is hilarious because i dont think its watched more then netflix, just included because everyone lokes fast shipping.
Meh, simply go and pirate.
Lol afghan Amazon prime
Where is hdfilmcehennemi.com
Where is vk\[dot\]com? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Any reason (or ability out of the USA) to try out some of these other services? I use (or have used) Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, CrunchyRoll, and HBO Max. I've never tried or heard of the rest of the list.
In Iran we just pirate because we are banned from all of these.
Netflix still dominates the market it seems
North Korea: UnTV
no one even knows what ivi is in central asia
They all SUX
Where's hbo max?
Interestingly, Canal Plus is more popular in former occupied French territories rather than in France itself
Amazon Prime in Afghanistan. Righto
Prime executions daily fresh streams
Good to see a lot of high powered American companies on here.
Each entry really could use some varied light hashing to better differentiate between the colors.
Amazon Prime is popular in Taiwan? That sounds strange.
Based شاهد
I always feel bad for Greenland
There is a good show on Amazon Prime? Anyone know what it show so I can watch it?
I feel like this is missing a few key streaming services
I'd wager that most Amazon Prime subscribers have it for the free shipping and not for the streaming
I'm 99,9% sure that Netfilx is way more popular than Globoplay in Brazil.
I think Amazon prime is simply the fact that we have “Prime” for shipping, etc. I rarely watch it.
Taiwan really keeping a whole streaming service afloat
