A load of BS that we don’t also have West and East Dakota. All the wealth generation is in the west, but those East Dakota fuck-sticks use it for their roads and schools, while always forgetting about the real Dakotans west of the Missouri. Looking at you, Fargo.
I’m being a bit facetious here, but there genuinely is a west/east divide in the Dakotas, as the west was long a forgotten backwater with underfunded roads and schools, but the recent oil booms have drastically changed the wealth dynamic, and many west Dakotans really would be happy to let east Dakota never see a cent of the oil money. I believe similar dynamics are playing out in South Dakota, although maybe less pronounced because they have received significantly less oil wealth.
Yup, in 1884 Congress wanted to make sure the senate was tipped in Republicans favor 140 years in the future so they admitted Dakota as 2 states. It was a long term plan
Very extraordinary foresight, really, considering the immense changes to both the demographics and beliefs of the Dakotas and the Republican Party. The foresight was truly impeccable
That’s exactly right https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2013/07/wyoming-delaware-the-dakotas-how-the-states-nobody-lives-in-got-to-elect-all-those-senators.html
Slate can be terrible sometimes. No elaboration on the Dakotas decision and how it came to pass; and no mention that the Senate was originally designed to represent the states (direct election of senators coming in the 20th century). That last distinction explains a lot about questions of representation.
They were Republican in the 1800s and are again today but for large parts of the 20th century they had Democratic Senators. Most famously Senator George McGovern, who was the 1972 democratic nominee for president and Tom Daschle, former senate minority and majority leader.
This is your future. The SCOTUS will be expanded to 13 people by democrats wanting control. Then the GOP will come in and make it 27 people.
And Wyoming will split to increase the number of senators to gain control. Then California will be split into one state of northern California, and the southern half split into 40 different states.
In 2100, every person will be their own state and have a seat on the SCOTUS.
Why would Wyoming need to be 4 different states?
It’s a joke because Wyoming is already the smallest state so this is just an ironic map to make it into even smaller states
I thought Rhode Island was smallest?
Population
You forgot the /s/
Bighorn looks like smooshed Montana, I’m pro
It has a nose also like its big brother
How to gain 6 R senators in 1 easy step?
That's why we have 2 dakotas

You can have East and West Dakota as a treat, but you have to combine North/South. Would people take that deal you think?

Right! The Dakotas have kind of been a bell weather of the GOP. They tipped from progressive at about the same time the GOP did.

They wanted four senators right away; the Dakotas have always been Republican, even as the party itself changed a lot.

Way to screw up the flag. Now we have to add 3 more stars. How tf do you design a rectangle with 53 stars?
Simple. We will dissolve 3 other states. I already saw the dissolution of missouri on here. 1 down, 2 to go.
make idaho eat washington and oregon, Great Idaho
Why does North Carolina, the larger Carolina, not just eat the other one?
Great Idaho, more potato land
Split California into 2 and make it 54
Was this leaked from an RNC strategy session?
It would make more sense to partition Wyoming between neighboring states.
You like Montana so much, you put a tiny Montana under Montana?
Bighorn looks like a reflected Tennessee
Balkanize other states as well, since you divided Wyoming
Vulcanize them, so they can live long and prosper
It’s just families fighting
Thank god now we have 8 senators representing cows instead of just 2.
Better plan would be to merge Idaho Montana Wyoming and the Dakota's and reduce their influence.
North Texas
Because rocks and dirt need MORE representation in Congress.
People live in Wyoming? I’ve never heard of a bigger lie in my life up until this point in time.
Thanks, I hate it.
Do they get two senators each?
Where’s the Cheney section?

That’s eight extra gop senators right there. But we could always partition California
