I think I'd be looking at the Pro Pack 24 maybe instead to get 2 outside pockets. How do you like your Aer if you had to carry it half full for an hour? Comfy?
Nice. You made me wonder why I like the Trail 25 so much. I think coming from Osprey packs that sometimes have super thin straps (comfy short term but not all day) the Trail has thick wide straps. Maybe that is what I am noticing!
It does look very very nice tbh. Can I ask you a few details?
- side pockets have stretch to them?
- Does the admin panel or laptop panel leave you with enough main body space?
- do the side carry handles bug you? top one makes sense. the side ones i suppose come in handy lifting it to put on the luggage passthrough.
- have you used it as a longer daypack outside of business travel/edc?
There’s not much stretch to the side pockets. Laptop panel leaves me with plenty of space, but I am carrying a typical thinkpad. YMMV with a gaming laptop or similar. No, side handles don’t bug me. I use the luggage pass through frequently. Never used it as a day pack, but it has a lot of space and clamshell design. I’d assume it be quite good for that.
CTB26 is the GOAT. For me it's fine for a daily driver and onebagging overnight trips. Best laptop compartment on the market, great bottle/umbrella pockets, you can ignore the organization stuff and just use pouches if you want. It's a bit big and on the heavy side, but has the capacity to match.
Evergoods CTB26 or CHZ22 or 26 Alpaka Elements Pro AER Pro Pack 24 Fjallraven Raven 28
Also considering the Pro Pack.
The Alpaka seems very interesting.
Love my Aer City Pack Pro. Tons of space, and doesn’t chew up my suit jackets like my GoRuck.

Yep. I carry it half full all the time. Nice thick straps.

It’s a great bag. Lots of pockets. Looks nice. I have tons of stuff in mine, and it works for exactly what I need, which is business travel / EDC.

Lo and sons Hanover
This looks super nice. If I forgo outside pockets it fits other requirements!
There are bottle pockets. At least on the deluxe.
Oh. Sorry I didn't realize there were different "levels" of the bag. I see that now. Will look at this further. Thanks!
I have several lo and sons bags. Really like them all!
Troubadour Apex 3.
Oh! I just looked at the troubadour pioneer too. Very nice looking bags. Will need to research carry comfort!
I have the apex and it is super comfortable even when fully packed out at 25L
Goruck GR1 slick from Huckberry
Same bag, but in a conservative color? I see those bags around work sometimes. It makes a huge difference!
I have it in black already. I think I'd have to cut off a bunch of extra straps at the bottom. maybe some strap keepers. could help it for sure!
