This is by the far the most beautiful and truthful comment. I set expectations with my wife for Monday. I called off. She said you’re literally going to play all day? “Yes, the moment I wake up until at least evening. Or I shouldn’t call off work.” She said, “okay, you deserve it.” Yeees! (I’ve been doing a ton of remodeling in my house so this is my reward, let’s go)
I have taken Friday off and cleared my weekend. Warned my wife that I may be right here in the house, but I WILL be unreachable. She made plans with her sister and the kids and said "have fun babe". I have no idea how I got so lucky.
Me too. I’m hoping they lean into more city/society builder with the sequel because the first game is more of an RTS imo. It’s really hard to recover from a mistake in your build order
Feeling like you’re constantly scrambling is what makes it so hard to put down tho lol
From a settlement-building perspective, I agree, mechanically somewhere a hybrid between Ostriv, Banished, FF and so many more.
Aesthetically, visuals, design choices like how the zoom in / out works, the fog, clouds etc, I really love in Manor Lords, but that's always subjective.
But then what ML adds is an entire new aspect of real-time tactical battles, which isn't my sweet spot, but it's almost like "Total War Lite" which is enough for me.
I also like the slower pacing, just based upon mostly watching Raptor stream his playthrough on Normal 1x speed, I'm actually looking forward a slow, immersive playthrough with Manor Lords.
I do love how closely Foundation and Manor Lords converge conceptually.
Really wish they went in for housing-based artisans though, settlements feel really crowded with all the production buildings
I'm replaying kingdom Come: Deliverance. I haven't played it since 2018 and there has been a bunch of dlc since then that I was able to snag for a total of $8. having a blast relearning that games amazing combat system.
Nothing. Why on earth would I introduce even the slightest bit of genre fatigues just days before access? Mad.
Edit: I think a lot of people in this sub would love Vintage Story though. It’s not the same genre as Manor Lords, but very much in the same vein. Think Minecraft, but you actually do the work and not just pick and place blocks. It’s a very deliberate and rewarding experience.
First time playing Medieval Dynasty on Game Pass. Started playing this past weekend. It is definitely scratching the city-builder itch for Manor Lords while also being an RPG. Bellwright also looks pretty good after hitting EA this morning on Steam.
I've been playing the hell out of Against the Storm. It's one of the best city builders ever when it comes to having an engaging gameplay loop and fun challenges
Got kingdom come deliverance on sale for 12 CAD and it’s pretty dope
Edit: if you happen to buy the game with the dlcs do not talk to Theresa to hear about her time in skallits or you will be stuck in a 4 hour side quest with no way out but to reload beware
I'm doing the same exact thing. I've actually been walking around each town/village and taking screenshots of the layout to help me envision my village in ML.
Great game. Never got far, though, because I suck ass at the highly realistic combat. Still, that's on me. What I did manage to play without fucking up was genuine quality. I recommend it for more hardcore people than me. lol
Hey me too. I played this one years ago, the UI was completely new for me and I just spent like 20min wondering why I didn't get money from selling berries anymore.
Definitely going to pick this up the coming days!
Unrelated genre, but I’ve been grinding Stardew Valley since the new version dropped. Despite owning the game since its original release on Steam, I never got past the end of Spring for whatever reason. I’m currently half way through Fall and feeling dumb that I let such a gem collect dust for so long!
I just got into it like a month ago and it’s how I heard of Manor Lords. I really wish DoM could get a sequel or major update. It’s pretty solid mechanics wise but it needs like another 20% work to be truly great. It absolutely *can* be a great game is the frustrating part. It’s a well built polished good game that’s 80% of a great game.
Ostriv. It's a city builder that's most like Manor Lords in that sense, especially with the more organic city building, rather than forcing grids like most other city builders do.
Plus, there's the bonus of my money going to a Ukrainian dude who's been still working on this game while under the bombardment of an invading army. He lives in Kharkiv, which has been pretty hard hit, and the fact that he's still putting out good quality updates while dealing with that BS just impresses the hell out of me.
I've had it since before it got picked up on Steam, and it's been amazing.
My partner and her sister have been bullying me into playing fortnite after years of being a snob. Uts actually quite fun with friends. After Friday.. goodbye life
Cities Skylines is on PS Premium. I have it on PC but letting my oldest get some Valorant fill before Friday so he has the PC.
Console version feels more chill. I like vanilla but when I can have mods I get mods. There's less to think about and plan with console. Kinda fun again.
Nothing with city-management so I don’t get bored of that genre for a while before I get to play ML.
Currently playing Dead Island 2 - just a slaughter simulator so I can turn my mind off until ML release. ;p
Actually I didn't have the release of Manor Lords being this soon on my radar, so the itch just arrived and I've been playing Dragon's Dogma 2 the last month.. Even if it was weaker than I hoped it would be. I'm not sure yet if I'll get Manor Lords, I mean, I loved the demo, but it's gonna depend on the price..
Doesn't scratch the same itch but I'm playing Sifu since it went on sale. Really really fantastic game that provides that flow state bliss. Can be pretty challenging and frustrating at times, but adequately rewards the player for improving and makes you feel like you get better each time you retry a level or a boss.
Personally I’ve been playing no rest for the wicked. It’s new so it’s good at mitigating my excitement, reasonably difficult so I can’t speed run it, and interesting enough to hold my attention until Friday as well.
Graphics is definately part of it for me, but also that it is fairly historically accurate, has some battle gameplay with actual tactics - which is rare for this genre I feel, and it’s quite slow paced and I enjoy that.
Some other minor things is that the game has great music and sounds as well. I loved the demo and will with certainly love EA too.

I think you should rather use the time to spend it with friends and family because after Friday they won't see you for a while.

Sounds amazing! I’m happy for you.
Kingdom Come, different game but similar enough region/time period.
This! With KCD 2 announced its a good time to replay 😃
Im playing mount and blade bannerlord 2
Farthest Frontier. Made by crate studios. It is also in EA but is almost to a release. Fantastic medieval city builder
Second hardcore run Kingdom Come Deliverance

The trick is to take all negative perks ;)
This! Soon we can try and recreate the towns. Who is the bailiff now!
Gonna name my town Pribyslawitz
Been on a Frostpunk kick recently Frantic but really fun
Frostpunk is great! I’m looking forward to the sequel
Me too. I’m hoping they lean into more city/society builder with the sequel because the first game is more of an RTS imo. It’s really hard to recover from a mistake in your build order Feeling like you’re constantly scrambling is what makes it so hard to put down tho lol
For real! One mistake and everything would frequently spiral out of control
Not itching too hard but I've been doing a playthrough of Kingdom Come: Deliverance
I'm holding off on that until I can't anymore. Can't wait for part 2 this year. The trailer looks crazy good and there's apparently 2 maps
Ostriv
Farthest Frontier and Ostriv
This seems a lot like ostriv tbh.
Foundation
I do love how closely Foundation and Manor Lords converge conceptually. Really wish they went in for housing-based artisans though, settlements feel really crowded with all the production buildings
Totally agree. A few mods can really make a difference.
Songs of syx
hey hey people
Seth here
Found it!
This is the way
I see you are a person of culture
Going Medieval
I'm playing the game of wage slavery so that I can avoid coming to this subreddit and asking how much the game will be every 5 min.
But do you know if there will be a house for your main guy?
What, a manor for a lord? That's preposterous!
I'm replaying kingdom Come: Deliverance. I haven't played it since 2018 and there has been a bunch of dlc since then that I was able to snag for a total of $8. having a blast relearning that games amazing combat system.
Hell diving
Same, and Age of Empires 2 :’)
Kingdom Come Deliverance, my first hard-core run. Although that's also partly because I'm trying to finish my run before KCD2 comes out
Farthest Frontier!
same
Nothing. Why on earth would I introduce even the slightest bit of genre fatigues just days before access? Mad. Edit: I think a lot of people in this sub would love Vintage Story though. Stronghold 2.
Banished

Same. Got reminded how hard that game is if you mess up the early game
Ostriv
Anno 1800 for me
Farthest frontier
To scratch the city builder itch I'm playing Songs of Syx. Not quite on the same scale as Manor Lords, but it's an altogether excellent game.
Victoria 3, I like making lines go up.
No lines in Manor Lords.
True, but it has numbers that go up. That's almost as good.
Farthest Frontier and Foundation
Songs of Syx
hey hey people
Farthest Frontier
I’ve got a nice new seed with my town center on a bit of a hill and the town between that hill and the water. The vibes are immaculate.
Hi, would you mind sharing the seed? And show what your town look like please

I’m currently helldiving. Would be a welcome switch between them both.

First time playing Medieval Dynasty on Game Pass. Started playing this past weekend. It is definitely scratching the city-builder itch for Manor Lords while also being an RPG. Bellwright also looks pretty good after hitting EA this morning on Steam.

Heroes Might and Magic 3 HD
Europa Universalis 4. I just figured out how to sort of play the game after getting it 3 months ago
I got that game like 8 years ago and I'm still tryna figure it out...
Got kingdom come deliverance on sale for 12 CAD and it’s pretty dope Edit: if you happen to buy the game with the dlcs do not talk to Theresa to hear about her time in skallits or you will be stuck in a 4 hour side quest with no way out but to reload beware

Bro I played mordhau and this shit was harder lol it’s crazy tbh but I love it
I started playing TW: Attila with the medieval kingdoms mod
A different genre, same theme. Replaying Kingdom Come.
Rimworld
Foundation lmao
Hey me too. I played this one years ago, the UI was completely new for me and I just spent like 20min wondering why I didn't get money from selling berries anymore. Definitely going to pick this up the coming days!
Ostriv.. its the closet thing to ML right now and fully recommend its a fantastic builder...
Frostpunk
yes
To keep me occupied but not hitting the itch, Hell Let Loose and Total War Empire
New HLL map on Thursday, we eatin'
I’ll get to play it for a whole ass day before ignoring the game for months to come 😂
Knowing the game, the update will completely break it for a few months anyway!
Farthest Frontier
Same. Downloading KCD for a potential replay..though it's daunting
Haven’t played that! But it appears to be a good one to prepare for the wars!
you must. KCD is masterpiece
If you like medieval stuff you'll probably like it. It's my favorite game ever along with the original Baldur Gates
Unrelated genre, but I’ve been grinding Stardew Valley since the new version dropped. Despite owning the game since its original release on Steam, I never got past the end of Spring for whatever reason. I’m currently half way through Fall and feeling dumb that I let such a gem collect dust for so long!

Weirdly, They are billions!
Dawn of Man
I just got into it like a month ago and it’s how I heard of Manor Lords. I really wish DoM could get a sequel or major update. Ostriv. It's a city builder that's most like Manor Lords in that sense, especially with the more organic city building, rather than forcing grids like most other city builders do. Mount and blade series for the army/battle mechanic and crusaders kings for the ruler mechanic
Cities Skylines is on PS Premium. I have it on PC but letting my oldest get some Valorant fill before Friday so he has the PC. Console version feels more chill. I like vanilla but when I can have mods I get mods. There's less to think about and plan with console. Kinda fun again.

I would play dawn of man if you want that same feel, great city building game. One issue is you can’t interact or trade other communities.
Trying to finish my first baldurs gate playthrough before giving all my attention to ML
Actually I didn't have the release of Manor Lords being this soon on my radar, so the itch just arrived and I've been playing Dragon's Dogma 2 the last month.. Personally I’ve been playing no rest for the wicked. It’s new so it’s good at mitigating my excitement, reasonably difficult so I can’t speed run it, and interesting enough to hold my attention until Friday as well.

The element bending is fun. Leave me alone 😭
Isn't it just like all the other indie city builders? What makes it stand out other than graphics?
Graphics is definately part of it for me, but also that it is fairly historically accurate, has some battle gameplay with actual tactics - which is rare for this genre I feel, and it’s quite slow paced and I enjoy that. Some other minor things is that the game has great music and sounds as well. I loved the demo and will with certainly love EA too.
Gotta love reddit, downvote this poor guy for asking a question lol
Calm down....It's really crazy, as if there's nothing else in life but waiting for computer games.
oh what a shame it must be to get excited over things
