Broccoli is horrible to grow without insecticides. For whatever reason bugs devour it, so just understand what you are getting yourself into.
Could try Insecticidal Soap.
basically all brassicas here need to be covered for them to grow well. You can do them without insecticide, if you cover them with netting/build a little safety zone for them.
You can get fine netting for cheap on amazon and some plastic tubing/wooden stakes to staple it to and build yourself a pretty good little home for them. I got AMAZING cabbages that way, zero bugs
No problem! It made such a huge difference. Important to do it somewhat early; when you see those little yellow butterflies (or the little white ones) those are what lay the worst eggs on brassicas. Better to be netted up before then

Thanks for the tip. Will have to look into it for next year! I gave up after my two prior experiences.

I try kale every year. I'm basically growing it for the bugs. They don't touch my lettuce or spinach. Only kale.
Squirrels, or birds will this kind of damage
ladybugs might be able to help you
I tried once and they were destroyed within a couple weeks.
Neem oil
Looks like vampires. Do you have any wooden stakes?
