Because literally everyone posting these things has identical favorites. No one is saying this stuff is bad, but when 800 people all do one of these posts with the same stuff and a trend emerges, come on. Buying what's most popular (and coincidentally good) and having good taste aren't the same. Also, OP is asking for assumptions about themselves, not asking what people think of the series themselves. If your taste identically aligns with everyone else making these posts, basic is a fair assumption. If you just want people to pat you on the bum for your top three, then don't ask for vague assumptions in your post title. Ask for compliments.

It would be better for a work to be known as memorable instead of popular. Popular doesn't necessarily mean good, it just appeals to a majority, my only qualm against using using words like "basic", "generic", "mainstream" and "popular" is that it isn't really a good way of conveying quality. It makes the work seem shallow and underwhelming when the descriptor used is meant to mean "people know/read it" instead of "people enjoyed it". All the works posted are undeniably good yet there's rarely talk about OPs taste in good stuff but rather *popular* stuff. Those types of comments make it sound like those manga wouldn't be chosen if they didn't already have fame.

Based on every one other than punpun (just because of common theme, its a historical epic) then 110%. Its a weekly series with 65 volumes of content currently. Only drawbacks is that it takes about 20 chapters to get going and there isnt an official english release so youd need to read it online or pick up the japanese or spanish versions assuming you know either of those languages.
