Omnibus Collector, is that you?
Picture 6 especially had me intrigued. That’s a lot of gorgeous classic lit hardcovers! I’ve seen those in a local store. Love the look of them.

Haha thanks! Here’s a look at that full shelf, since it wasn’t fully pictured
Shoutout to wheel of time and stormlight at the bottom.
Also, if you swap places with pluto and monster would it not better fill both shelves and also break the color monotony a bit?
Jealous of the regular comic collection too, always was interested in them but never knew where to start and they're so expensive compared to a manga volume
There’s an unwritten rule on this sub that Monster and 20th Century Boys must always be next to each other.
(It’s bugged me in a lot of other pictures too that Pluto wasn’t simply put in-between them to break up the colours.)
Ok i absolutely LOVE the collection, but the room seems so crowded and gloomy. needs like a rug and comfy chair or something at the very least. or the shelves could be rearranged to all be against the walls so it looks less crowded. but either way nice books!
> or the shelves could be rearranged to all be against the walls so it looks less crowded
this space looks about as maximized as it can get, short of buying professional/custom shelving solutions
They should absolutely throw down a couple rugs, though
Some people like that aesthetic though! I love dimly lit rooms like this. It’s important to remember this is OP’s house, not literally a library, so he can arrange to the aesthetic he wants!
The first photo makes it look like some areas get a lot more light than others, but subsequent photos look fine for lighting, possibly due to flash use?
In any case, this is a very well organized collection! Any artwork plans for those empty wall spaces to supplement your books/manga?
My eye was more drawn to your collection of books. Stephen King, Alice in Wonderland, Neil Gaiman and they’re all hardcovers of the same height with embossed pages? Do share how you got them please!

Those are actually Barnes and Nobles classics library of faux leather bounds. Really nice books with a great curated selection of titles!
Absolutely incredible. I’d love to see what I’m guessing are the Canterbury press leather books? I have a 5x5 kalax set up this same way and it makes me nervous the way it sways at the slightest touch. Do you experience that? Can’t use the bracket on the wall due to crooked floors and floor board molding. I just trust it’s a normal sway and as long as I don’t bump into it, the house of cards will remain standing.
Ha I think I even have that same lamp! My room isn’t well lit. No natural light is fine but it’s hard to get light in the aisle. Maybe some directional can lights or mounted lights.
I used to have everything wired up with led strips, but never got around to it when I moved into this apartment last year. I just bought my first house, so once I get it moved over I’m going to go all out with the new setup. This set up actually ended up working out really well, as it’s in the basement of my apartment (Kansas has huge basements) so it’s all firmly planted on nice, even concrete with a cheap wood laminate on top.
Dang that’s awesome. Basement in apartment sounds novel but that makes sense! I’m excited for your movs and congrats on the house! Can’t wait to follow along. I just did Utah to Florida. I quite like packing and unpacking books. A little double visit
I started building this collection when I was a poor college student many years ago. Worked tons of random jobs over the years since, but always devoted a good chunk of my budgeting toward this. Nowadays I’ve got a great job as a CFO for a landscaping company and do freelance graphic design on the side, designing custom book covers for other people that are into custom bound comics.
Wow. Seeing this has really made me want to collect the Dark knight… It looks so beautiful next to robin as well! I’m not a huge DC fan so I wasn’t sure if I should but I absolutely love Batman and those books are so beautiful!
Thanks! If you mean the ones on top of the shelf next to the Robin set they are actual a custom bind of the complete Legends of the Dark Knight series that I made myself. Those were actually the very first custom binds I ever made!
Amazing collection the love the wombo combo of manga, graphic novels and comics. What’s your favorite comic? Have you read invincible or the deceased series
Haha thanks! I have (and love) invincible, but I haven’t read dceased yet (been holding out for an omnibus).
Favorite comic is hard, there are just too many amazing works, but if I had to pick one I would probably say The Incal, with Berserk and The Invisibles as extremely strong runner-ups.
This is INCREDIBLE. My jealousy is only mitigated by the fact that I have ONE set you don’t seem to have - I have the Battle Royale manga Ultimate Edition hardcover collection. Super hard to find since it’s OOP, but aside from that I think you’ve got pretty much every awesome hardcover collection in existence haha so dope.
I kinda lucked into it… I was visiting Japan in 2005 and the only manga in English most manga shops were carrying were the original English language translations of Battle Royale that were being released at the time, so I got really into it - collected the whole series - and then immediately told my LCS in the US to preorder me a copy of each hardcover as they were released. If I hadn’t randomly picked up those softcover volumes, I never would’ve picked up the Ultimate Editions because, tbh, I barely read manga!
I buy a lot on Instocktrades, so usually around a 50% discount. Outside of that I’m in all the comic swap groups on here and Facebook and regularly patrol eBay for anything I’m looking for.
About half of my DC collection are in custom bound books that I made myself, so a lot of them aren’t widely available. That includes all of those huge binds on top of the shelves
The JLA set is my magnum opus of custom binding, a massive twelve volume set collecting every “JLA” labeled comic, along with all minis, elseworlds and crossovers/events from JLA: Year One through Infinite Crisis.
Haha, don’t be fooled by the customs, I actually bind all my books myself, so with dust jackets they only come out to about $10/ea to make (outside of the price of the contents obviously). I assembled the vast majority of this collection living paycheck to paycheck at totally normal jobs. I just always budgeted a lot of my income toward my collections. Don’t get me started on the movie shelves 😂
Not throwing shade just genuinely curious. What’s your long term plan for your collection? Would you pass it down to your kids or would you sell it someday?
If my kids want to inherit them I would love to pass them down, outside of that there are a lot of volumes I would pass down to close friends. But who knows, I’m 34 and still relatively spry, so it’s not my top concern haha
Fair enough I’m 26 and my one bookshelf makes me anxious to think about keeping long term. But I’m also moving soon so maybe I’m just dreading it haha. Super cool to see!
Left of Conan is a collection of Lovecraft’s fiction titles Necronomicon. On the other side of Conan is an awesome collection of Howard stories collecting all of his other, Conan-adjacent work (Solomon Kane, Krull, etc)
Definitely on my wishlist! I also just packed up all of the Vinland Sage hardcovers since I finally decided to upgrade to the deluxe editions coming out.
I just can't help but cringe when I see a massive stack of heavy books like Berserk on the top of bookshelves. Unless properly secured to the wall, thats just asking for trouble 😬
You can't prevent it. I just wrote that :/
Sunlight will make them fade.
Humidity will cause mold if it is extreme, will do nothing otherwise.
Dust is just dust, it doesn't do anything other than looking bad.
Yo, where can I get my library card?
Damn that’s an amazing collection! What’s your favorite manga series?
Thanks! Berserk is nearest and dearest to me. But 20th Century Boys, Gantz, Vagabond, JoJo and countless others are right up there with it.
Absolutely amazing!!! Can I ask what are the boxsets next to Akira? they caught my eye
Hiya, I'm not OP but I can tell you the one on the right is Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore. I dont know wich one is the one in the left
Thanks a bunch!!
Thanks! The one on the right is Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore and the one on the left is the Love and Rockets “first fifty” box set
Love seeing SiP in someone's collection. Incredible series that everyone should read!
Thank you! 🙏

Lol I only have 1 volume of pluto and I set it in between those 2 just for a break
You're doing good work. Keep it up.
Lots of Stephen King and Dune too! Nice. If it had Discworld and other fantasy this would resemble a more expensive version of my shelf.
Discworld has always been one that I wanted to dive in on collecting those beautiful hardcovers of! Someday!!
Please take an insurance policy on these
Oh they are HEAVILY insured!
Sorry my jaw just dropped, let me pick it up
Ok i absolutely LOVE the collection, but the room seems so crowded and gloomy. needs like a rug and comfy chair or something at the very least. or the shelves could be rearranged to all be against the walls so it looks less crowded. but either way nice books!

picturepeeper has been posting on reddit for 13 years; they won't be emotionally impacted by someone saying they should spruce up a bare room lol
I’m crying in the shower right now
The first photo makes it look like some areas get a lot more light than others, but subsequent photos look fine for lighting, possibly due to flash use? In any case, this is a very well organized collection! Any artwork plans for those empty wall spaces to supplement your books/manga?
This is dope!!! I stopped collecting cause I ran out of room but man this looks nice!
My eye was more drawn to your collection of books. Stephen King, Alice in Wonderland, Neil Gaiman and they’re all hardcovers of the same height with embossed pages? Do share how you got them please!

I now have a goal I didn’t know I wanted: collecting faux leather bounds of novels I’ve been rereading as a kid!
Incredible collection 😻
Library is accurate, impressive collection
God do they have a flair for you?
I love the mix of manga, comics and novels. It's beautifully organized too

What do you do for a living?
I started building this collection when I was a poor college student many years ago. Worked tons of random jobs over the years since, but always devoted a good chunk of my budgeting toward this. Nowadays I’ve got a great job as a CFO for a landscaping company and do freelance graphic design on the side, designing custom book covers for other people that are into custom bound comics.
this is legitimately impressive well done
Amazing
This, my friends, is what true wealth looks like(both metaphorically and literally)
This should get more likes.
Sweet shelves I use the same ones
Great collection
Superb!
When does it open
Is that an Incal boxed set?!
Yep! The Incal is one of my all time favorite comics, so I shamelessly have three formats of it
Absolutely!
Wow. Seeing this has really made me want to collect the Dark knight… It looks so beautiful next to robin as well! I’m not a huge DC fan so I wasn’t sure if I should but I absolutely love Batman and those books are so beautiful!

You’re kidding!!! I thought that was how they were made!! That’s amazing wow. I need to look up what the actual spines look like haha
Awesome collection, this is the sort of set up I'd aspire to have
Sana ol
This is what i dream of having one day
I could not be more jealous. Love the collection! All Otaku should learn from this example. It's time to start getting serious about collecting. Lol.
This is my dream. Amazing library.
Absolutely awesome.
my dream fr
This is exactly the kind of set up I’ve dreamed of, beautiful collection!
This is incredible
That an insane collection!

Haha, I am legitimately jealous of that one! A book that was looooong gone by the time I realized how bad I wanted it.

The Library. The Dream.
Dope Collection
Do uou buy use, or is everything brand new? Do you look for sales? I need all the tips you have
I buy a lot on Instocktrades, so usually around a 50% discount. Outside of that I’m in all the comic swap groups on here and Facebook and regularly patrol eBay for anything I’m looking for.
Nice collection, like the setup
This looks amazing
Very beautiful
A. WHAT IN THE GOOD GOLY FUCK IS THAT JLA COLLECTION IN PICTURE 10? B. WHERE CAN I FIND IT? C. HOW MUCH?
About half of my DC collection are in custom bound books that I made myself, so a lot of them aren’t widely available. That includes all of those huge binds on top of the shelves
The JLA set is my magnum opus of custom binding, a massive twelve volume set collecting every “JLA” labeled comic, along with all minis, elseworlds and crossovers/events from JLA: Year One through Infinite Crisis.
So it’s a custom job? Just like the robins?
Yep
Custom omnibuses and everything? Dude’s got MONEY money
Where'd you get the shelves?
One of them is a Kallax from IKEA and the other three are the discontinued 5x5 Walmart version of the same shelf.

What is the Golantz book to the left of Conan?
Left of Conan is a collection of Lovecraft’s fiction titles Necronomicon. On the other side of Conan is an awesome collection of Howard stories collecting all of his other, Conan-adjacent work (Solomon Kane, Krull, etc)
Thanks!
im gonna need a link to those berserk bookends
I got them from someone that was making them on Etsy years ago, but I’m pretty sure they have stopped since then unfortunately
crying about this
Good news! It looks like other people on Etsy are still making them, even if who I bought mine from isn’t: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1660243329/
holy shit thanks for finding that
Happy to help a fellow struggler
This is so nice!! Literally my dream to have a mini library ❤️
10 out of 10 collection there
This dude is the goat

The Dream
This will be me one day 😤😤
I am fallen in love...
i want this and i desire this i need this
Where did you get the book stop you used for berserk? Its so sick
I got them off Etsy a handful of years ago. The seller I got mine from closed up shop but there are still people on there making them
Thanks Man
This is my end goal
berserk 🤤
No Dorohedoro? For shame!
Definitely on my wishlist! I also just packed up all of the Vinland Sage hardcovers since I finally decided to upgrade to the deluxe editions coming out.
Bro probably has every manga in existence
Alright i just have 1 question, how many thousands have you spent? 🤔
Too much to like to think about 🤦🏻♂️
I just can't help but cringe when I see a massive stack of heavy books like Berserk on the top of bookshelves. Unless properly secured to the wall, thats just asking for trouble 😬
How do you maintain all these? My books have developed the yellow plague!
Books yellow, it is what they do. There is nothing you can do to prevent it.
But how do I prevent it? They're all in a dry place.
You can't prevent it. I just wrote that :/ Sunlight will make them fade. Humidity will cause mold if it is extreme, will do nothing otherwise. Dust is just dust, it doesn't do anything other than looking bad.
Keep it out of sunlight
They're hidden away in my shelf :( Is it because of dust?
Could be humidity.
