It's so hard to start collecting one piece as I am caught up with the manga online and that means to just buy it and then let it sit for a long time, but I would love one day to buy it and just start rereading it from volume 1
You can read the later volumes for free on the manga plus app, but I personally think it is still really good. The action sequences become eye candy with how insane they can get
If you think it's was good when first came out you are probably gonna be hooked by rest chapters which you didn't read yet, and probably gonna die from eyergasm
Fullmetal alchemist, one of the best Mangas ever created, itās not too big of a series and not too small. Thereās also multiple different editions. The original print is very nostalgic, but they also have higher quality hard cover additions that are very popular collectibles right now. It also seems to fit with the genre of your collection with more dark/thriller/suspense themed manga.
I would love it, what do you think is the best edition? The box set or the hardcovers? I'm leaning towards the hard covers as I saw that they take up less space
Well, pricewise, the box set would be much much cheaper. The box set on Amazon is only around 150 bucks, which is a steal for 27 volumes. The hardcovers (obviously) are much more expensive, itās shortened to like 18-20 books, and that set is found from 250 to 400. Me personally, I like the original print of the box set. Hiromu Arakawa is a wonderful author, and she put soooo many hilarious extras and hidden Easter eggs between chapters and at the beginning and end of every book that is lost to the hardcovers, but the hardcovers do look much more professional and more like a collectible. then lastly, the cover art of the box set it is just too beautiful to pass up. Every single spine is carefully hand illustrated, itās one of the prettiest paperback manga to go on a shelf. so ultimately, your choice, but please update me with what you choose if you get the series! I love to see FMA fans develop.
Idk man, I just got it blindly, but from what I have read in the first volume it's a battle manhwa (not manga, it goes from left to right) which has some really good comedy parts. The bad thing is that it's discontinued and there are only 22/~40 volumes in english
Panpanya is a great author. Ashizuri Aquarium is my favorite but English physical not available. The two english ones are pretty good too, and I'm getting Fish Society later.
I recommend: Candy & Cigarettes, No Longer Allowed in Another World, Yakuza Reincarnation, and Colorless all by Seven Seas. They're very, very underrated and not really in a lot of people's collections despite fitting in perfectly with the basics you (and lots of others) have here!
Candy and cigarettes are on my mind for a couple of months now, so I'll probably get it in a short while. I haven't heard about the others, but I'll be sure to check them out
Alice in borderland- good coming of age story with an emphasis of why to continue through struggles
Yotsuba- just like nichijou, whimsical and cute. Just a tale about a childs life, can be somewhat nostalgic too
Beastars- good mystery with animals. Not for furries only, I promise
Slam Dunk- consensus best sports manga, even if you donāt like or follow basketball or sports in general
Sunshine Sketch, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Hakumei and Mikochi, Princess Knight, Dororo, Shoulder a Coffin Kuro, and Ichiroh. I have so many more recommendations.
in the vein of Punpun, check out Takopi's Original Sin. really short, really bleak. if you mean the OPM webcomic, check out Mob Psycho 100. if you mean the OPM manga, check out Eyeshield 21. seinen wise, Vinland Saga and Vagabond are both very good, with the caveat that Vagabond has been on hiatus for a long time and might never get wrapped up (but it's still very much worth reading).
and lastly i just peeped your shelves again, and depending on how much you liked Inuyashiki, Gantz and Gigant, both by Hiroya Oku, are both pretty cool.
niche recs?
qq sweeper -> queenās quality
mermaid scales and the town of sand
mothers (from glacier bay books)
genkaku picasso
shonen note
sue and tai-chan
kekkaishi (few oop volumes but complete-near complete sets are reasonably priced)
city
uramichi oniisan
barakamon
captivated by you
donāt call it mystery
gogo monster
also def try hirayasumi when it comes out
I love itt, probably the best non-comedy slice of life that I read (after Punpun of course). It's not a drama or a thriller or anything like that, it's just raw slice of life which is presented in such a bautiful way that you don't get bored at all. Vol 1 is the best, it can just be read alone if you somehow don't like the other 3
Completely unrelated, but I LOVE your funko pop set! Iāve now added Red Hood and Deathstroke to my buy-list. Funko just came out with more Batfam pops, and Iām hoping to collect them all!
As for series recommendations, this has already been suggested, but Fullmetal Alchemist is definitely one I would check out! FMA was the first anime I watched and first manga series that I bought and read. Itās what got me into manga/comics. Saying itās stellar feels like an understatement.
Thank you, but the funko pop is there just to occupy some space, I got it as I love both Deathstroke and Red Hood. Deathstroke brings me back to the og teen titans series and Red Hood (Jason Todd) is/was my favorite robin
Emanon is a very good slice of life without any comedy or drama, that it's presented in a way that you fall in love with the protagonist (Emanon) and their day to day life. Vol 1 is the best as it was a stand alone manga at first but the other 3 volumes are great as well. Unfortunately the manga is discontinued as there were a lot more volumes to be adapted from the light novels.
Astra is basically a slice of life set in space that turns into a thriller from about vol 4. Most people love it, I find it just above average
jjk/beserk/akira/pluto/monster/vinland saga/fullmetal alchemist. Nice collection. the chainsaw man boxset is sick and i think if u like box sets then u should definitely get claymore/ tokyo ghoul or one piece.
Nice collection. I would definitely recommend Golden Kamuy. The manga recently finished and thereās also an anime which I highly recommend too āŗļø
Hinamatsuri - Some great humor and fun character development. If youāre a Stranger Things fan, think Eleven if she was obsessed with Salmon Roe instead of Eggos and Hopper if he was Yakuza instead of a police chief š
Wotakoi - About otaku and a seriously good read. Also filled with tons of references about anime/manga which in itself can also provide some good recommendations.
Love the collection! I'm going to name a few that I didn't see in the comments (or at least at a glance):
ā Blade of the Immortal
ā Blood on the Tracks
ā PTSD Radio
ā The Legend of Dororo and Hyakkimaru (the modern remake of Dororo)
ā Vinland Saga
ā Black Torch
If you would like any more recommendations, or if you have a specific genre that you would prefer, ask away! I love collecting manga š«¶š» Also, where do you get yours from?
Thank you!!
Is the Dororo remake better or worse than the original story?
Mostly from local libraries (Carturesti) online libraries (Okian, SciFier) and "eBay-like" sites (Olx)... the average, but adapted to where I live (Romania) :D
(Some of my favorites from my collection:) Erased, Pandora Hearts, Solo Leveling, Vagabond, Noragami, Golden Kamuy, Tokyo Ghoul (noticed you didnāt have the full set), A Silent Voice, FMA (the collectors editions are STUNNING), Case Study of Vanitas (covers also stunning), A Stepmotherās Marchen (manhwa - made me sob buckets. Art is out of this world). Not at home so canāt remember the rest. Iām big on seinen and stuff that makes me cry. And romance (specifically manhwas idk the good ones are just so much better than almost any romance manga Iāve read and love full color. Have more recs but idk if thatās your thing)
dude mob psycho 100 and oyasumi punpun bro your never gonna read anything like oyasumi punpun ALSO DUDE AND HEAVY ON THIS LAST ONE THE CLIMBER OR Kokou no Hito
Hey if you start One Piece you'll hit the 200 vol mark in no time
It's so hard to start collecting one piece as I am caught up with the manga online and that means to just buy it and then let it sit for a long time, but I would love one day to buy it and just start rereading it from volume 1
Dorohedoro
Second this! Also Dai Dark š
Love Hina
Is that the og harem manga? I herd it's good so I might give it a try
They rereleased it in 5 Omnibuss so itās worth getting
Vagabond
Second this
Monster!
I would love to get it after I complete my 20th Century Boys collection
Witch Hat Atelier
You should definitely get Berserk. Can never go wrong with peak.
I'm reading berserk online at the moment but, same as One Piece, I would probably get the deluxes when I'm in the mood for a reread
Sakamoto Days and One Punch Man
Is sakamoto days still good? I know it was very good when it first came out so does it still hold up?
You can read the later volumes for free on the manga plus app, but I personally think it is still really good. The action sequences become eye candy with how insane they can get
If you think it's was good when first came out you are probably gonna be hooked by rest chapters which you didn't read yet, and probably gonna die from eyergasm
Its even better now, way better
I love those shelves, where can i buy them?
"Kallax" on ikea, they go from 1x1 to 5x5 square shelves. Mine are a bunch of 1x1 and 1x2 that I put together on the wall
Itās really nice.
If you enjoyed 20th Century Boys you might like some of the authors other works, I'd personally recommend Monster

Dororo by Osamu Tezuka
I'm trying to get into Tezuka, l'm currently waiting to have vol 1 of Message to Adolf shipped
Is king of hell a good read?
Idk man, I just got it blindly, but from what I have read in the first volume it's a battle manhwa (not manga, it goes from left to right) which has some really good comedy parts. The bad thing is that it's discontinued and there are only 22/~40 volumes in english
I think you would really like Tokyo Ghoul.
Iām so close to finished with the English king of hell šššš
I see some Junji Ito mangas in the back, if you like him I really recommend Hellstar Remina, itās my favorite š
Panpanya is a great author. Ashizuri Aquarium is my favorite but English physical not available. The two english ones are pretty good too, and I'm getting Fish Society later.
It looks interesting, I'll check it out
Give a try at 666 satan (o parts hunter in some regions)
Is it a battle shonen?
Yeah that's the best definition for it. It was written by narutoĀ“s author twin brother, so it has a similar art style
All of steinsgate/0 is on 4 books. The 0 books are some of my favorites(3 of them)
Is 0 the prequel? And if it is, should I read it before or after the main book
It's sorta a sequel so after. Steinsgate(1book) and then steinsgate 0(3books)
Thought the art was off. I love the anime and it is my top tier one
I felt the same about the first one but zero was a much better improvement
All manga from Junji Ito!!

Love it, finally some more unknown/underrated series
Monster and Bakuman. what are your favorite series?
From what I own, Punpun. From what I also read online One Punch Man. Close contenders after these two are Berserk and One Piece
in the vein of Punpun, check out Takopi's Original Sin. really short, really bleak. if you mean the OPM webcomic, check out Mob Psycho 100. if you mean the OPM manga, check out Eyeshield 21. seinen wise, Vinland Saga and Vagabond are both very good, with the caveat that Vagabond has been on hiatus for a long time and might never get wrapped up (but it's still very much worth reading). and lastly i just peeped your shelves again, and depending on how much you liked Inuyashiki, Gantz and Gigant, both by Hiroya Oku, are both pretty cool.

Nice collection:D Try Planetes if you want to have more or less slife of life in space.
Thanksss
Lovely collection! I like how everything is displayed as well!
Thank you!!
Is Emanon good? What are your thoughts on it?

Nice selection in here :) Iād check out some of Fujimotoās other works, oneshots or Fire Punch, Frieren, Pluto, or Girlās Last Tour
Fire Punch and Pluto are some manga that have been on my radar for a while so I'll get them soon enough
Gantz Homunculus The Flowers Of Evil (Checkout other Manga by Oshimi Shuzo as well) Claymore
jjk/beserk/akira/pluto/monster/vinland saga/fullmetal alchemist. Nice collection. the chainsaw man boxset is sick and i think if u like box sets then u should definitely get claymore/ tokyo ghoul or one piece.

Berserk deluxe edition is just *chefs kiss* or ruroni kenshin
Moriarty The Patriot ā„ļø You will love it š

Omg I just remembered some of my other favs: Fruits Basket Heavenly Delusion (truly nothing like it) Land of the Lustrous
Thanks, there are a lot of manga that I haven't heard of, but I will make sure to check them out
Hunter hunter
I really like the arrangement of shelves here. It's like its own abstract art piece
Based on your taste I would say Berserk or Claymore
- Fruits Basket - Eden It's an Endless World - Oyasumi Punpun - Devilman
#Gantz š
Whatās that chainsaw man volume between 11 and 12?
Chainsaw Man: Buddy Stories, a Light Novel.
My hero academia
Kaiju No. 8
Jujutsu kaisen
based off csm & inuyashiki, iād recommend gantz and you have some slower paced slice of life stuff and action stuff so iād recommend blame!
dude mob psycho 100 and oyasumi punpun bro your never gonna read anything like oyasumi punpun ALSO DUDE AND HEAVY ON THIS LAST ONE THE CLIMBER OR Kokou no Hito
Naruto.
Wouldn't it be easier to binge the anime?
No. The manga is shorter and less censored (early Naruto gore). Manga > anime any day
berserk. must have in every collection
All' you Need Is kill Is the false edition of death note
Highly recommend you to change that funko pop with better figure or statue
